INTRODUCTION
Computing and business are two different broad terms that are involved in the
industry of computers. They are used together to achieve the specified goal. Computing
is being used in the business industry in order to improve the performance of the
business (Aliev and et.al., 2012). The examples of computer businesses involves the
manufacturing and retailing of hardware and software, the repairing of the personal
computers,Institute providing training, business related to the computer networking, etc.
The present report is based on the concepts of information system as well as the
business information system(BIS).The report is explaining the performance of the HSBC
Bank in regard of using the IS.
TASKS
1 Basic concepts of – understanding information
Information is nothing but the relevant data that are processing to meet the
specific purpose. The basic concepts are mentioned below:
 The information can be viewed as real if it is satisfying the certain aspects of the
researcher.
 Information must posses the following features:
i. It should be transfer to the recipient.
ii. It must be user friendly i.e. understandable to the users.
iii. It have to be in appropriate format.
iv. Information should be relevant that explains the certain terms.
v. Computer can be defined as the programmable device that are being used for
the purpose of processing and computing the information.
2 An introduction of business information system
Business information system(BIS) is an area of the study of business that relates
the deployment of the Information and communication technologies( ICT) in the
improvement of the business processing and the enhancement of the value chain

networking of the organisations (Chang, 2015). BIS is playing a vital role in the HSBC
Bank in setting the new economy policies in order to develop the turnover of the
company by using the information system to do the different processes like global
outsourcing, establishing the business alliances world wide, etc. The corporation has
been using the ICT in acquiring , producing and delivering the goods and services
through all over the globe.
3 Hard ware and software used for the chosen organisation
The HSBC Bank uses different types of hardware and software devices in order
to perform their regular work. Some of the used hardware and software in the
corporation are below listed:
 personal computers having the core I processors( i3,i5,i7), 2GB of RAM and
using the Windows operating system as per finding the hardware information
(Tao and et.al., 2011).
 Laptops and Mac desktops using the Intel core 2 processors.
 Fax machine
 Desktop and laptops having the OS like windows7 Home, Ultimate SP2, 64-bit,
32 -bit
 Office 2013( windows), 2011(Mac)
 spreadsheets, word processors
 Browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer 11 (windows), chrome
 Google mail, Mozilla Thunderbird world
 Antivirus , windows defender
4 Databases and Business Intelligence systems or processes
Business intelligence systems can be defined as the software applications being
used in the analysing the raw data of the corporation. This process of analysing is done
by using the different activities like data mining, online analytical processing, method of
querying and reporting. The HSBC Bank uses the BI in order to improve the decision
making process, minimizing the extra costing as well as in identifying the more new
business opportunities (Yousfi and et.al., 2016). The applications of the BI are
OLAP( Online Analytical Processing) and data ware housing.

The company uses databases like MySQL Server, Oracle, DB2 ( fromIBM),
SAP, etc. to store the informations related to their clients like their name, address,
password, bank account details.
5 Determine the Network, Telecommunication, etc.
The HSBC is a British multinational bank having the company headquartered in
the London, UK. It is among world 6th largest bank the size is obviously so vast. As per
the size the enterprise needs services like networking, telecommunication and internet
so that they can fulfil their working criteria (Zissis and Lekkas, 2012). The company
demands of the telecommunication increases in order to achieve the economic growth.
The venture uses its own intranet services and 3G or 4G internet services so that the
speed of the browsing enhances. BIAN ( Banking Industry Architecture Network) is
used in order to support various facilities like net-banking, online transfer or online
shopping, etc.
6 Enterprise and functional BIS structures and processes
The BIS structure of the enterprise are nothing but the processes or methods involved
in its processing. Some methods are below listed:
 OLAP( Online Analytical Processing)
 Making data warehouses (Kim and et.al., 2013)
 managing database
 making data-marts
 quality analyst of the collected data
7 Develop BIS solutions to the organisation
The company created the Business intelligence system solutions in order to
resolve the issues occurred in this context . The data are collected or gathered on the
clouds so that it may persist for a long duration of time. With the help of internet the end
users and the employees can receive the relevant information as per the need of the
organisation.
8 company practice Initiated system development
Yes the HSBC uses the system development process in order to develop the
best system for doing the accurate functioning. The system development task is initiated

by examining the present problem domain of the system as well as what requirement or
the changes in this existed system should done is also achieved. So that the company
can easily develop the turn over per year.
9 BIS looked as a solution of Project management
The BIS can been seen as a solution of the project management by aiding the
managers in developing any project. The applications like data mining, OLAP, data
marts, data warehousing, maintaining the quality of the data ,etc. The data or the
information which are being collected are proved to be very helpful for the in
maintaining the project.
10 How can you do system analysis?
System analysis can be defined as the act of study any activity like a business
procedure, physiological functioning by the means of mathematics so that the
operations related to that process can be discovered and one can easily define the goal
of the business. It is used to analyse and design the system (Lin and Chen, 2012). The
bank uses the structured analysis that involves the database designing and dealing with
the user interface issues. They uses a series of steps which is called as system
development life cycle(SDLC) in order to do planning, designing, analysing,
implementing as well as supporting the information system. The company performs the
profiting analysis by using the performance indicators like ROA(Return on assets),
ROE(Return on equity), EM(Equility multiplier) and AU(Asset utilisation).
11 what system design do they follow?
System design can be defined as the specification of any solution which is
computer based. The HSBC follows many approaches to perform the system design
processing. Some of them are listed below:
 Modern- driven approaches: It includes to draw the pictorial system models for
documenting the technical aspects of the system. For example information
engineering, object oriented design, etc.
 RAD( Rapid Application Development): This approach is that deals with system
development. It involves development methods and different software tools. It is
used when the team of development has programmers and analyst who have
experience of such techniques (Sahu and Pateriya, 2013).

 JAD( Joint Application Development): This is used to design a system which is
computer based. The JAD is used in defining the projects, designing a solution
of that product as well as monitoring the processes of projects until it reach its
end.
12 Change management strategies in the organisation
Change management strategies are those strategies which are applied in an
organisation to maintain the different day to day changes. It involves the processes of
moving, unfreezing or freezing the method again. The methodologies involved are listed
below:
 System building: The system which is to change is determined first. Then the
methods are examined to build those changes in the existed system in order to
improve the performance of the corporation (Rader, D., 2012).
 Implementation: After discovering the changes and building the system the
employees of the enterprise need to implement those alteration.
 Maintenance: As the implementation is successfully done the work of
maintenance is performed by the skilled workers so that there no errors will occur
in future.
13 what information system strategies do the organisation use?
The HSBC uses different information system strategies in order to gather the
different information of the operations of the corporation (Böhm and et.al., 2011).
Information strategies planning is nothing but the structure based on the information
system created in order to fulfil the business objectives. Some of the methodologies are
discussed below:
 All the functioning of the bank is determined first. This method includes the
explanation of each functional processes by conforming its accuracy.
 Then the task of recognition of all the created or gathered information is carried
on which is required by the different functions.
 Then the Business System Planning is done for defining the behaviour and
scope of the information system in order to the support the enterprise.

14 Is any information system management in place?
Yes the corporation have the information system management. The company
uses this to manage and use the information system to improve the performance and
the decision making regarding business. The HSBC Bank perform seven stages of the
MIS(Management information system) that are following;
1. The information that is to use is identified first.
2. Then gathering of information is performed.
3. Classification is done of the gathered information.
4. Data collected is stored in the warehouse or the database or in the data marts
5. Retrieval is done as per the need of the information.
6. After then analysis is done in order to check the quality
7. Then decision making is performed by the employees of the organisation.
15 Managing information security strategies for the chosen organisation
The security of the information become the most important task in the
corporation. As the risk of leaking the relevant information has been increases the head
of the company are using different approaches to protect the information. Some of them
are discussed below:
 Digital signatures: In order to check the authentication of the users, the
corporation uses a scheme of digital signatures where a digital code is being
generate and the user is providing the access by creating the public key
encryption (Aliev and et.al., 2012).
 Password: The ventures created password to make the system secure.
Unauthorized users cannot use the pc or system of authorized one.
 Pattern matching: Certain pattern are created in the system or website or portal
of the clients or the users in order to protect the relevant data of the organisation.
16 End user computing- providing end user services of the company
End User computing (EUC) is nothing but an approach through which the non
programmers can also create the working applications (Chang, 2015). The HSBC bank
provide the end user computing so that the end users can effectively integrate with the
environment of computers. This is done to realize or reflect the strong potential of the
ender user services to solve the problems of the organisation in a trust fully manner.

The applications of EUC are not accidentally involved but are defined by the strategies
of the end user computing. The company are focussing on the end services too. It is
defined as the services that can easily be done the user also without the help of the
corporation. For e.g. Balance transfer, payment of bills, etc.
17 Ethical, legal and moral constraints on information system
The HSBC bank also focuses on the ethical, legal, and moral constraints of the
information system in order to perform the tasks in discipline as well as smoothly
manner. The corporation take care of the ethical values like well behaviour among the
workers are maintained. The wages are given as per the work of the employees. The
fraud works like t hefting of the money is strictly prohibited by the company. The legal
norms are made in order to protect the end users as well as workers from the cyber
crime like hacking.
CONCLUSION
From the above mentioned report it has been conclude that the information
system and technology has been positively affected the performance of the HSBC bank
by applying different methodologies like BIS. The project managers can easily manages
the task of developing the quality product by using different internet based technologies.
The different strategies like information management, risk handling, management
problem-solving, etc. are applied in order to manage the works accurately.
