Beginning with the classical approach, we have the bureaucracy theory of management.
This approach is characterized by a hierarchical organization. This means that every action is
taken on the basis of bureaucratic officials and written rules. It focuses on the theme of expertise,
rules and rationalization of an organization as a whole. In the workplace, this approach promotes
few managerial levels as possible so as to ensure specialization. On the other hand, on the
contemporary approach, we have the contingency theory of management. This theory argues that
organizations are unique and different since they face various situations that require unique ways
of managing. Therefore, management approaches should be applied on the basis of the situation
at hand. For instance, incase an organization produces quality goods on large volumes, a minor
technical issue may prompt the management to apply a contemporary approach to handle the
issue at the moment.
Question 2.
Beginning with classical approach, the role of a manager in an organization has changed
in different ways. One, managers must now evaluate their employees for career advancement on
the basis of technical qualifications. Two, managers have to follow a specific written guideline
on how to act on different situations or run various processes. On the other hand, the
contemporary approach has influenced the role of managers differently. One, the cooperation
between managers and employees has increased hence ensuring positive performance. Two,
managers have begun adopting authority based on rewarding behavior rather than punishing
behavior. This has increased the level of commitment and motivation of employees.

To begin with, we have the challenge of globalization. Globalization is considered a
significant challenge since it requires the careful analysis and consideration of various branding
strategies and tastes. In addition, the issue of culture has influenced how managers localize
products so as to respect cultural identities. Therefore, managers need to understand various
cultures so as to establish their businesses. Secondly, we have the challenge of ethics and
governance. As ethical implications become more subtle, complexities arise. In addition, ethical
implications affect the community at large. Therefore, organizations have established means to
ensure that ethics supersedes profitability and workers rights are protected.
Question 4.
To begin with, organizational theory is crucial for managers in the 21st century since it
helps identify negligent or malicious corporate practices. By identifying such practices, the
managers can be able to develop future precautionary measures. For instance, in the nuclear
accident that happened in Three Miles Islands, the managers were able to determine ways to
prevent such occurrences in the future. Secondly, managers are also able to identify windows for
expansion hence enabling an organization to grow by producing more. This catapults an
organization to a new environment of production. For instance, Henry Ford was able to modify
his factory production assembly hence making production easier.
Question 5.
To begin with, a manager must be accountable. Accountability is considered crucial since
it enhances the ethics of managers. In addition, since accountability is an aspect of governance,

managers assume the responsibility for various actions hence ensuring great results. Secondly,
managers should be able to leverage human capital. Since managers are responsible for
motivating, monitoring, directing, staffing, organizing and planning employees, being able to
create leverage systems that allow employees to achieve high levels of employee satisfaction and
efficiency is crucial to success. Lastly, a manager should have excellent communication skills.
Communication is regarded as the heart of any organization and therefore, overlooking aspects
such as cultural differences may result to various negative consequences.
Question 6.
Yes, I report to a manager in my place of work. To begin with, I believe the manager is
accountable in the work place since he is responsible for the actions of each employee as well as
performance of the company. For instance, the manager is responsible for the assuring programs
in the company are managed with integrity. Secondly, the manager is also skillful in leveraging
human capital. The organization has about five hundred employees with each having differences;
nonetheless, the manager ensures each is satisfied hence increasing output. Lastly, the manager
values communication since he understands managing such a diverse workforce may need
effective communication strategies.
Question 7.
To begin with, accountability can be instrumental in aiding me demonstrate a high level
of ethics across my employees. Therefore, their decisions and actions may be positively
impacted hence ensuring they increase performance to the organization as well as maintain a
positive company vision, culture and ethics. Secondly, leveraging of human capital may assist
me understand how to ensure I acquire the maximum output from the employees while ensuring

they are highly satisfied. This is crucial in building the culture and performance of the
organization. Lastly, I would employ simple and effective communication strategies to engage
the workforce hence ensuring effective information flow.
