CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTIONOverview of researchRecruitment refers to the procedure through which HR manager influences, shortlist,finalise and select best suitable applicant for specific job position within business organisation.This process helps company in influencing pool number of candidates who will further evaluatedand selected on the basis their skills, qualification, experience etc. With the changing time,Human resource department are using different recruitment strategies which helps them inattracting maximum number of applicant who could work with same company for longer periodof time. Along with this, business manager are also using different selection tool that helps HRmanager in selecting right candidate for right place (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014). Effectiverecruitment and selection methods also results enhancement of productivity of employees. Thispresent research is based on Barclays banks, a British multinational bank of UK which offersfinancial services to its customers. The company is working well at international scale but still itwants to enhance its knowledge on up graded recruitment strategies and selection tools whichhelps company in enhancing productivity of their employees. In this regard, top managementteam of Barclays bank have conducted research for grabbing satisfactory information on theirchosen topic.Background of company and studyBarclays bank is a financial institution which was incorporated in 1690 in London,United Kingdom. Barclays mainly offers its business in four core areas that is corporate banking,investment management, personal banking and wealth management (Bloom and Van Reenen,2012). The company is growing at fastest level which creates requirement for human resourcedepartment to adapt best recruitment strategy and selection tool that will help them in improveproductivity of employees in effective manner. With reference to this, management team ofBarclays bank have decided to conduct an effective research in order to enhance their knowledge1
