Therefore it is important for a Leader and Manager within an organization as by making the appropriate use of these skills the attainment of the goals and objectives can be made without facing problems and issues. INTRODUCTION Leadership and Management skills are quite important skills for a person so that the attainment of higher-level of leadership and management goals and objectives can be made within an organization(Azad and et.al., 2017). In this report, a detailed analysis will be made on assessment of leadership and management capabilities. Additionally, development and planning of a range of leadership and management development activities will be considered as a part of this project. MAIN BODY Assessment of leadership and management capabilities Scenario- I am working as a Senior Supervisor in a store at Sainsbury's. As a part of my duty and responsibility I have to ensure that I am able to analyse the different aspects of the store an to ensure that it is able to function in a proper manner. I am a leader who believes in democracy and therefore I believe in taking the views and opinions of my team members so that they are able to provide the base for taking of different types of important decisions in a highly effective manner. Therefore in this way I can make sure that I am able to achieve my goals and objectives without facing problems and issues. I believe in making the use of Leadership which is Task-Oriented model. By making the use of such a model I can make sure that I am able to assign different types of tasks to different people according to their skills and capabilities(Bush, 2018). This has helped me a lot in ensuring that the goals and objectives which are set in the front of my team can be attained. This is also helpful in the enhancement of their overall level of efficiency and effectiveness without problems and issues. Thus on the basis of making the use of task-oriented approach I can say that I have the following strengths and weaknesses as a leader- Strengths- I am able to assign tasks according to capabilities and skills of the different team members and therefore make sure that they are able to achieve the specific goals and objectives of the organization. I am able to ensure that I can trust upon the strengths of my teammates and thus make sure that the goals and objectives of the firm can be attained. 1

Weaknesses- When the time of taking decisions quickly comes I am weak in this aspect. This is due to the reason that I strongly believe in consulting different people in my organization before taking a decision which therefore consumes my time in taking a decision. I do not believe in taking strong actions quickly. Therefore this hurts my organizations as sometimes these type of actions are required quickly because the time which is available for the taking of decisions is quite low and thus it has to be quickly decided on the action which needs to be taken. Development and planning of a range of leadership and management development activities As a Senior Supervisor in Sainsbury's I am thinking of the way I can adopt the different types of activities so that the different types of goals and objectives are attained. The following activities will be considered for the development of leadership and management skills in the company- Immersive team experiences- A part of the duty of the leader is to interact regularly with the team(Pihlainen, Kivinen and Lammintakanen, 2016). Thus the immersive team experiences are required for interacting effectively and efficiently with the teammates. I will indulge in this activity to develop my leadership and management skills and thus this will be quite helpful for me to ensure that I develop my strength of assigning tasks as by interacting more with the team I can learn more about the members of the team and thus accordingly assign the different types of tasks to them. Your favourite manager- In this activity the employees give their own perspective on the manager who is their most favourite one(Willis, Clarke and O'Connor, 2017). Therefore the use of this activity will ensure that the favourite manager of the employees can be identified. This will help me in enhancing the strength of trusting the teammates. Thus I think that my teammates will strongly vote in my favour because they like me as their Team Leader who is able to trust their strengths and allows them to mushroom in their respective roles without facing problems and issues. One-On-One Impact Coaching with a Pro- This activity is quite useful for the leaders in identifying their different weaknesses and taking their coaching with a Pro Leader so that the development of leadership skills can be done highly effectively and efficiently. Therefore the use of this activity is helpful for me in removing my weakness of not taking 2
decisions quickly as personalized coaching can be used by me so that I am able to identify the way the leaders are able to take decisions quickly and effectively. Be Creative- This activity will involve being creative and taking strong leadership decisions thereby helping the leaders in taking effective decisions. Therefore by making the use of this activity I will be able to remove my weakness of not taking strong actions quickly as the development of a creative approach will be helpful for me in identifying the nature of the situation and therefore taking a desired action effectively thereby helping in the attainment of the different types of goals and objectives without problems and issues and development of leadership skills and abilities. CONCLUSION From the above report, it can be concluded that leadership and management skills are helpful for leaders in taking the desired actions without facing problems and issues. These skills are needed in the management of an organization so that it is able to function properly to attain the different types of goals and objectives in the future. Thus the use of these skills is important. Self-reflection can be made to identify own strengths and weaknesses of a leader. Also, the use of various types of leadership development activities can be done so that the leadership abilities are effectively developed. 3
