Introducti
on To the
Nursing
Profession
 The profession as a nurse always seek for the
care of those in need.
 The primary focus of nursing lies as providing
care for speed recovery of health.
 The duties in a nursing profession can vary
from taking decision in short medication or
acute treatments to provision of inoculations
when needed.
 The nurses opting the profession may have to
perform as several roles such as
(nursingworld.org, 2020):
• Specialists in prescribning medicines
• Specialist in performing the role as a midwives
• Specialist in providing anesthesia
• Specialist in taking care of variety of problems
regarding the psychological and mental health.

Short Term Nursing Goals
 Passing the Bachelors of Nursing from
registered Nursing School with high grades
 Get posted at any well paying position or
any governmental Institution
 Get to practice at reputed Institutions as a
registered Nurse during my internship
phases.

Long Term Nursing Goals
 Gain experience as a registered Nurse
under any reputed institution.
 Undertaking of Masters in Nursing in
long run after gaining experience of five
years of Nursing profession.

Steps taken to meet professional
Goal
 I have tried being ethically modest during all my
nursing practices.
 Never tried to breach the policies of the
institute where I have graduated from.
 I have always tried maintaining my attendance
properly.
 I have always tried to be there whenever
my colleagues felt my need.
 Moreover I have sacrified my personal life in
order to serve for the needy.

Milestone of the Goal
 Further I would sincerely like to complete my
Masters of nursing.
 Followed by the completion of Masters I would
like to search for new theories, which can be
beneficial for others while serving as a
healthcare professional.
 Ultimately I would definitely like to opt for
opening an Organization where I can provide
help to those in need at lower cost.

Using of Strengths to meet
the Goal
 I feel that in order to achieve my goals my
strengths will play immense role, which are:
• Staying focused while performing my work.
• Having the ability to sacrifice my personal
lifestyle to serve for my profession.
• Have good interactive capabilities, which will
help in building good inter[personal relationship
with the clients.

Challenges in the Profession
 Understanding and coping with the religious
and spiritual beliefs of the client.
 Understanding the need of the client.
 Saying no to the unethical practices, even if
any supervisor forces to do so.
 Non implementation of unscholarly practices,
even if it had benefitted in our personal life.
 Prioritizing the policies of the Institution I will
be working in or the Provisions of Nursing.

Overcoming the Challenges
 In order to overcome the said challenges which I
had faced I took the following steps:
• Understood the spirituality of most religions.
• Learnt the client needs thoroughly.
• Staying away from those who usually force doing
unethical practices.
• Even if faced any unethical practice, I cutted
out my name of the project or have tried
informing the Boards of Nursing.
• Learnt the policies of nursing as well as the
policies of the organization in order to prioritize
them orderly.

Opportunities to enhance the
Portfolio or the ePortfolio
 Interning under reputed organization to
learn Nursing Practices.
 Tried following and implementing the
nursing provisions whenever got
the chance to do so.

Goals Achieved
 Worked as a health care professional.
 Completed my Bachelors with flying colours
 Got certified as a registered Nurse.
 Have gained premium working experiences
under highly specialized nursing supervisors.
 Learned special nursing skills of midwifery and
anesthesist as well.

Goals yet to Achieve
 Need to complete my Masters
 Need to research more on my nursing
practice to bring up with innovative choices
of restoring client health.

Self Evaluation
 At this phase of my practice I feel that I have
tried doing my best whenever it have been
possible for me to portray my skills. However, I
have always followed the path of law and have
never done any unethical practice.
 Moreover, following by the profession as a
nursing professional I have always tried folowing
the Provisions of nursing and had also shown
sacrifices at times of need.

Memorable Courses and
Assignments
 The assignments and courses best
remembered to my memory are:
• Assisting physicians during the surgeries.
• Assisting while providing anesthesia
• Helped patient with alzheimer and had
also helped them with medication at times.

Nursing Philosophy
I find nursing to be a sacrificial profession, which
takes anything other than a daily job and a
paycheck at the end of each month. Unselfish
services are required and patients need to be
handled more closely. In my view, nurses are the
guardians of the wellbeing of their patients' life. A
trustee of life involves supreme accountability and
responsibility. Effective nursing relies on several
principles, but I am characterized by compassion,
non-maleficence, sensitivity and teamwork.

Myself as a Nurse
 I as a nurse feel that:
• My primary focus should be staying aware of the duties and
serving for those who are in need rather thinking of the money
behind the profession.
• Secondly, saying 'NO' for helping an individual in need shall
never be a happening from my side even if I am unwilling to but
in a position to serve for them.
• Thirdly, I should be aware of my knowledge and
try implementing it properly based on the demad of the
situation.
• Lastly, as a nurse may call for challenges out of my expertise
but of my sound knowledge. At those positions I shall be
working ethically regardless of any pressure.

Conclusion
Henceforth it can be concluded that,
the profession of nursing needs
sacrifice and demands care towards
the client. However, if someone
choose the profession for the
paychecks they will be truly faking as
a nurse and also being morally
unethical towards their profession.
