INTRODUCTION Human resources can be elaborated as the people working within an organization and those activities that are concerned with managing the people so that their performance can be enhanced effectively and efficiently. In this report I will be providing information and explaining about the profession of human resource. Human resource profession holds a great importance within an organization because it supports the selection of the best people for a particular job and their management so that effectiveness and efficiency at the workplace can be achieved. I am willing to pursue my profession in human resources because my ability to manage people is effective and efficient and that could help me to perform HR profession in better ways. I am eager to build a career in the human resource profession as a human resource associate after completing my graduation. This report will be demonstrating various trends that affect the HR profession and enhancetheopportunitiesforgrowthinabusiness.Moreoveritdemonstratescertain experiences, knowledge and skills that are required by a graduate to build a career in the human resource field. Along with it, I have gathered insight from various sources of data that are primary and secondary so that in death research and understanding can be performed. For collecting the secondary data I relied on using books, general, magazines, articles, online and many other sources to get insight about the HR profession. In order to collect primary data I interviewed people in the HR field and gathered information about the HR profession. Therefore this research report on the HR profession is very useful to provide insights to the graduates for their career development in the HR field. ANALYSIS AND APPLICATION General trends impacting the Human Resource Profession (Secondary Research) There are many trends in every form of profession which makes it different from the others and helps to select and enhance the skill development for that profession. The companies, employees as well as the candidates who want to show up within an organization identify and follow these trends which enhance their overall growth. The trends affect all businesses and people irrespective of their industry throughout the world because it provides better chances for growth. In the highly dynamic world there are many trends that affect HR activities and human resource profession within an organization that are elaborated below. 1
Innovation of 4G spectrum and internet: With the development and innovation in spectrum or internet during 1999-2003 and till now the businesses have changed significantly. The human resource is affected due to the advancement of the internet over the last 2 decades which has changed the view point of organizations and their new graduates for requirements in the HR profession. The various activities of human resource like screening of candidates, selection test, training and development, employee engagement etc. has taken a digitalized form due to the advancement of spectrum technology. This trend has also impacted the overall screening and selection process of the graduates who want to pursue their career in the HR field. The graduates in today's world should possess a sound knowledge of online platforms, use of the internet, digital technology etc. in order to enhance their opportunities for getting selected as HR within an organization. Workplace diversity and culture: It is among one of the consequences of a rapidly developing world which is bringing the people together and has combined the people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to work together. The human resource professionals are required to enhance and develop collaborative work among these employees from different locations so that effectiveness and efficiency in the work can be obtained. It is the expectation of the organization that a human resource professional must understand the workplace culture and diversity to enhance the working of people along with each other. The workplace diversity and diverse culture has also influenced the activities of graduates to become a HR professional who could comprehend and understand diversified cultures and people from all communities to handle them effectively and efficiently. The companies seek for those people who can enhance the work performance of others as well as themselves by developing better working conditions for all the people within an organization. Use of artificial intelligence, artificial reality and machine learning: the concept of AI and AR is very new but it has affected the activities of the human resource profession. The human resource profession consists of using artificial intelligence to evaluate the performance and keep the record of activities of people working within an organization. Artificial intelligence and machine learning has enhanced the automation of processes within an organization and help to manage the people effectively. General trends that affects the Human Resource Profession (Primary research) For collecting the primary data about various trends that affect the human resource profession an interview was conducted which provided insight about various trends and changes that are prevailing in today's world. From the information collected by interviewing the various human resource professionals and the people in the HR field valuable data about the various trends in the HR profession were discovered. With the help of this primary research data it has been understood and discovered that the rapid advancements in the technology such as internet, artificial intelligence, machine learning etc. are among the major causes that are affecting and changing the human resource profession activities within an organization. It was identified that artificial intelligence is very necessary for focusing on various human resource functions and helping the human resource professionals to enhance their management activities. It is also elaborated that the use of the internet is very common in today's world and the growth of pandemic has made it a compulsion for the human resource professionals to get knowledge and skills for using them in the organizational activities. With the help of the internet the activities such as screening of candidates, selection test and training and development activities are carried out by human resource professionals. With the assistants of artificial intelligence and machine learning the human resource can easily have the performance of people within an organization as 3
well as on board new skills that can help in the growth of organization. Along with it, in the interview it was discovered that the diversified culture at the workplace is among the common trends within all the industries that affects the human resource profession and requires an individual to possess certain skills and abilities to handle people from different backgrounds. Therefore, it is mandatory for an organization and the new graduates to consider the latest trends and fashions within the changing world so that they get better chancesfor growth and development. Skills experiences and knowledge required by an Individual in HR Profession Skills, knowledge and experience determine the success of an individual within their respective fields. Some of the skills and knowledge that are required by a human resource professional are elaborated below. Important skills: Communicationskillsrefertotheabilitytointeractwithpeopleeffectivelyand efficiently to derive some purpose. Human resource activity is the main link between an organization and its employees because they convey the information from one to another. Problem solving skills: The problems solving skills in the profession of human resource helps to spot the challenges and prepare certain solutions in advance so that escalations can be avoided. Coaching skills: Within the human resource profession the coaching skills are considered as a very important part to enhance the growth of employees. With the help of this skill the human resource professionals are able to make their subordinates learn new things and develop processes at work. Administrative skills: These skills are also known as management skills which must be within an individual to become an effective human resource professional. This skill helps to manage the human resource so that their experience can be enhanced, performance improvement, employee engagement etc. Important knowledge: 4
Conceptual knowledge: Human resource professionals should have the knowledge about the various models, theories, strategies and practices of human resource that could enhance their performance at the workplace. The learning of concepts help the human resource professionals to enhance the performance of people working at the workplace. Technical knowledge: The human resource professionals must have technical knowledge about the field of work and various departments so they can manage the activities of people within every process. A human resource executive should have the knowledge of the latest technology, software, computer systems, etc. to increase their efficiency and effectiveness to manage people. EVALUATION It is evaluated from the above report that the job role of human resource is of high importance and I believe that the skills and knowledge that are required to become a human resource professional are already developed by me. I understood that I have all necessary skills and abilities to perform the functions and responsibilities of a human resource executive within an organization.
