CARING FOR GLOBAL
COMMUNITY
Overview of Organisation
CAPSA stands for Catholic Alliance for
People Seeking Asylum is an organization
based in Australia that delivers service
and empowerment to the refugees who
fell into hard times and have come to
Australia seeking asylum.
Pope Francis personally cared for the
asylum seeking people and took them into
the shade of Catholic community.
The pope visited various camps and
begged for the refugees so that they are
provided a home. He also prayed for them
who has suffered. CAPSA aspires to
concoct a Catholic community(Protection,
2017) that is symbolic of kindness and
compassion.
The organization offer a unifying network
that links and strengthen the
compassionate framework of caring that
is by sharing the resources, the ideas and
requirement for a daily living. They
connect in with and then guide those who
are more active through an advocacy.
Their actions include regular events, the
vigils, the forums and the workshops.
Contribution to the Common Good
In stressful and demanding conditions of a detention (Zwi et
al., 2018).– there had been incidents that reported abuse of
the children, the attempts of self-harm and sexual, physical
assaults. Children showed various signs of psychological,
physical distress that is consistent with elevated cases of
mental sickness in the detention centers. It was common is
children who suffered from any acute illness. As per the
Australian Human Rights Commission(Potter, Doran &
Mathews, 2016).– eighty five percent of parents and
children was aware of their disturbed emotional and a
stressed mental health had resulted from detention. In
many centers, children lack allowances and access to any
education as well.
CAPSA’s contribution – According to Catholic social teaching
principles- the core question about detaining of children
rises from the very conviction that every human being is
unique and precious. Human dignity and esteem needs of
each being should be respected. This respect guards them
from adverse treatments in conditions that are necessary to
their flourishing. For the children to flourish, they require
freedom to play, grow and learn in the environments that is
free from any physical constraints, occasion violence and
any abuse.
Often and certainly, asylum seekers and refugees undergo a
deep psychological trauma (Newnham et al., 2019) related
to torture, war and different abuses and handing the social
psychology of these ‘groups’ and ‘individuals’ can be
considered as a common good.
My Professional Contribution
In addition to the challenges – there exists various
facilitators for nursing professionals who provide primary
healthcare services to the refugees and the asylum seekers.
Having a sound healthcare encounter (communication,
trusting relationship, cultural understanding, social and
health conditions, time) – is important. A healthcare system
with proper training tools , professional guidance and
psychological support is pertinent to the situation. The
nurses work in close contact with other services, support
organizations who provide resources to people seeking
asylum for resettlement.
Nurses must focus on continuity of attending care, by taking
an interest in refugees background, culture, language and
helping them with broader needs. Having a kind,
empathetic disposition (Jeong, 2015). is an important
nursing demeanor in relationship building. Any transient,
aggressive or directive behaviors should be kept under
check while a person centered approach has to be taken.
The nurses should have a vivid cultural understanding in
addition to the understanding of health, wellness or illness.
Health literacy that is limited can cause problems for
different terms can mean different health conditions in
different countries. While caring for asylum seeking people –
a fundamental physical screening(Coyle et al., 2016) ,
followed by a mental health assessment is pertinent to a
nursing diagnosis. The nurses should have an
understanding of their host nation‘s healthcare systems
while strategizing a plan of care for these people.
Gaining a good knowledge and having a precise
understanding of the country cultures of asylum seekers is
an important facilitator in cross-cultural care.

Introduction
Cosmopolitans argued that moral universalism
in its core, is true. Therefore all the humans and
just not the mere fellow-citizens, is entitled to a
scope or spectrum of global justice. In addition
