based on Federal express (Fed ex) which is an courier industry organisation founded in 1971 and
its founder is Freserick W. Smith. Respective organisation is offering variety of services such as
Post delivery, express mail, third party logistics and freight forwarding. This research is going to
identify business strategy while going global. Therefore the research is assist in creating a clear
aim and objective of the firm so that they can attain desired objectives. In order to identifying
view point and opinion of individual it is required to analyse appropriate methodology as for this
research primary approach will be best suitable that determiner views of different stakeholders.
All these aspects will denoting desired results of this research.

INTRODUCTION
Globalisation is the process though which an organisation spread of their products,
technology, information as well as job across the national boundaries. In simple term, through
globalisation organisation develop international influence or start operating on international scale
(Taylor, 2017). This assignment is based on Federal express which deals in courier delivery
services. Founded in 1971 and its founder is Freserick W. Smith as well as they are serving at
worldwide level. Product offering by respective organisation are Post delivery, express mail,
third party logistics and freight forwarding. Main of this research project is to identify the impact
of increasing trade across the boarders of goods and services.
In relation of the research, aim and objectives are framed by the researcher. Main motive
behind framing these is to provide guidance to overall research team in conducting an effectual
research for Waitrose within right direction. In addition to this, conducting research is beneficial
because it will also aware organisation about latest trends, challenges, benefits as well as issues
of globalisation which influences business growth and development in the economy (Salvioni
and Gennari, 2017). With reference to this, aims and objective for the research for Waitrose on
globalisation are as follows :-
Aim of the research -

To understand the concept of globalisation and its importance.
To identify the factors that influence the trade of goods and services across the boarders.
To access the effect of globalisation in terms to gain competitive advantage in Booths.
To provide suggestive measures to increase trade across the boarders of goods and

METHODOLOGY
This is important part of entire research project because it refers to the collection of
information and data with the motive of business decision. Research methodology is systematic
planning which help in conducting research within effective manner. Important part of this are
mention below :-
Research philosophy – It is related to the belief of researcher in which pattern are shown
for gathering information as well as conducting analysis for respective study (Surugiu and
Surugiu, 2015). There are mainly two type of research philosophies i.e., positivism and
interpretivism. Thus, for conducting this research interpretivism approach will be use by
researcher because it will assist in gathering finding out valuable data for the gathered
information.
Data Collection methods There are some data collection tools through which
information will be gathered for conducting research. Mainly there are only two type of data
collection method i.e., primary and secondary. Explanation of these are as follows :-
Primary method – In this method of data collection information gathered is first hand as
well as not been published in any books, journal or newspaper before. There are several
methods of primary data collection such as online survey, face to face interview,
observation, focusing on group, questionnaire and so on. Furthermore, these are most
important methods where data is collected from first hand as well as have accuracy which
result in easy framing of research project.
Secondary method – In this method of data collection information has been utilise which
already been published in any paper, books, journal and so on. Secondary data collection
method is cost effective as well as not time consuming.
In this following research, primary data collection method will be use by researcher for
collection data as well as information (Stark, 2015). Along with this, questionnaire will be utilise
for collecting primary data.
Quantitative Research – It is the research in which statistical and numerical data will be
uses for conducting research. Quantitative data gathering involve several methods which gain
outcomes in numerical form. There are few examples of quantitative data collection strategies
such as experiments as well as clinical trials, surveys, interviews, questionnaire and so on which

gather information through close ended questions. Benefit of using quantitative data is their
numerical outcomes in which data is statistically analysed.
Qualitative Research - It is the procedure in which in-depth knowledge of specific
phenomena will be gain. Qualitative research method is the primarily exploratory research as
well as it utilise for understanding different opinions, reasons and motivations (Stenning, 2016).
There are some common methods for qualitative research such as focus groups, individual
interviews, observations and so on.
In the following research, quantitative research method will be use by researcher for
determining quantitative research method. Motive behind adopting this method is to identify data
in correct manner and by correctly data analysis. The statistical analysis of data will assist in
getting more effective outcomes.
Sampling: In the present research, random sampling method has been selected by the
researcher for completing this research project. For this research, 30 respondents has been
chosen who are stakeholder of Federal express (Fed ex).
Time Horizon - It is related to the overall time that have been taken by researcher for
conducting the entire research in effective manner. In relation of the existing research,
investigator have used cross sectional studies as in this information is gathered at once for
answering framed research questions.
Ethical issues - It is important for investigator to follow all the core ethics of research in
for making it free from any type of obstacles or hindrance. Moreover, for conducting research in
effective manner it is important for an researcher to take permission from the respondent before
using their personal information shared by them (Hotho, Lyles and Easterby‐Smith, 2015).
Along with this, it is necessary or important for not to share gathered data as well as information
of respondent with any third party.
FINDINGS
For conducting this research primary source such as Questionnaire will be utilise for data
as well as information collection. This help in gaining view point of people related to the concept
of globalisation and its impact on Waitrose. Questionnaire for conducting entire research are as

concept of globalisation have both negative and positive aspects. There are several barriers faced
by the organisation while doing business at global level such as issues related to diverse culture,
legal barriers as well as tax and tariff plan. One of the major challenge faced by Waitrose it
related to diverse culture and out of 30 respondents 15 are in the favour of this. Apart from this
10 respondents are saying every nation have different laws as well as regulation so issues related
to legal barriers will be faced by respective organisation. Whereas, remaining 5 are in the favour
of tax and tariff plan.

DISCUSSION
Topic of this research project is “To identify the impact increasing trade across the
boarders of goods and service”. A study on Federal express (Fed ex). For conducting research
on this topic interpretivism approach has been used by investigator because it assist in gathering
valuable data and information. It is important to collect information in correct manner and
according to the requirement. In addition to this, primary method of data collection has been
utilise because investigator want to take reviews of people that what they understand with the
concept of globalisation and several more (Kumari and et. al., 2015). In primary method
questionnaire has been use, this is best source and help in gathering reviews of respondent. Apart
from this, random sampling method has been use by researcher and number of respondents are
30. from the entire research project it has been analysed that business expansion at worldwide
level is beneficial for organisation because it result in enhancing market share, profit
maximisation, increment in sales and so on. Along with these advantages there are several
challenges also faced by Waitrose while expanding business at global level such as different
culture, legal factors as well as tax and tariff plans. Moreover, their requirement of some ways
for business expansion like strategic alliances, joint venture and franchising.
CONCLUSIONS
After going through the above graphical presentation, it has been analysed that,
globalisation is the wide concept in which organisation offer their product as well as services at
worldwide level. This is beneficial for Waitrose because this result in increasing their market
share and higher business profitability. Along with this, advantages there are some challenges
also such as issues related to diverse culture, legal barriers, tax and tariff plan. Apart from this,
there are several ways which will use by respective organisation for business expansion such as
joint venture, franchising as well as strategic alliances. Thus, from this research project it has
been analysed that for Waitrose business expansion at global level will be beneficial because it
result in increasing customers as well as profit by sales maximisation.
REFLECTION
According to the overall analysis of research, it has been identified that globalisation is
wide concept which is cannot be understand by single topic. But this research is enough for
understanding the topic of globalisation in effective manner. On the basis of my experience

while conducting research I had gone through several areas which helped me in realising that I
am enough good in several areas and some require development.
In the present scenario, I have conducted research for Waitrose, which is retail sector
company offering product and services at global level. In the initial stage of conducting research
I though research is easy to conduct because of popular brand name and it is popular among
people. But when i have actually started this research I have realised that even though people are
aware about it but still they do not want to invest their time in providing relevant data to
complete this research in effective manner. Thus, overall process for conducting research is good
for me it enhance my skills and knowledge.
