Task 1
Q 1. Legislations and sector skills standards that influence organisational policies and practices
This is the case study of Mr. Taz who has met an accident and after that, he has been
suffering from some physical disability and hearing impairment. The incident has affected him
so badly that he does not eat properly and don't want to talk with anyone. He has been referred to
a rehabilitation centre. He has been so disturbed by the accident and behaved aggressively with
staff members of the centre and also, had not participated in any activities of this centre by even
knowing that it will heal him and provide better health care.
There are many legislations in HSC sector that are implemented in organisation. These
are as follows:

Q 2. Analysis of factors that can affect the achievement of promoting and maximising rights for
Taz
There are various factors that could hinder the health care entities to promote and
maximise the rights of Mr. Taz and other patients like him. Here, there will be a brief discussion
on Mr. Taz's case and a rehabilitation centre in which is has been referred. This centre provides
amenities and health care to its patients. It always focuses to promote the rights of its users.
However, there are many factors that affect abilities to promote these rights of patients which are
as follows:
Levels of staffing: The members of staff need to have abilities to promote rights of their service
users. Lack of these capabilities generates various issues in this regard. Furthermore, some
workers of the centre are not dedicated enough to engage users and patients for health care

services. It affects provision of care and reduces the productivity of the staff members of this
centre.
Changing status of health of service users: Since there are times when health status of users
changes frequently. Due to this, services of care givers can also fluctuate and get affected as they
can get confused by the changed behaviours of patients like Mr. Taz and they could not be able
to take care these users. These changes affect the policies of rehabilitation centre to promote
rights of service users.
Q 3. Factors that contributes loss of independence, non-participation and social exclusion
Taz, who had been met a tragic accident that led him to hearing impairment and loss of
his physical ability. By this tragedy, he came into a serious mental state that made him to stop
speaking to others as well as less eating. There are some factors that contribute to loss of his
independence, non-participation and social exclusion as under:
Dependence: People like Taz become vulnerable after such incidents and they start to
depend on others for even small tasks. This creates fear in this kind of patients. In this
scenario, Taz has become dependent on others due to his physical disability. This made
him lost his capacity to solve things on his own. He also has been started to misbehave
with the workers of care centre.
Less participation in decision making: This is the factor that contributes to social
exclusion of vulnerable people. These patients can start to behave that are not
appropriate or can lead to lack of confidence in making decision so that they slowly get
inclined towards social exclusion.
Emotional state: It is a factor that contributes to make people vulnerable as in the case
of Taz. He lost his ability to treat with people of rehabilitation centre and behaved
aggressively towards them. This was due to his emotional state post-accident. Taz is a
young guy and might have various ambitions and desires to achieve in life but after
facing such tragic accident currently, he is not able to fulfil them.
Q 4. Analysis of communication between physiotherapy team and Taz that contribute to promote
and maximise rights of Taz
Communicating effectively is very important to build strong relationship between service
providers and users. For example, to communicate with Taz, the staff members of rehabilitation
centre needs to give proper care to him and being a manager of physiotherapy, one needs to

centre needs to give proper care to him and being a manager of physiotherapy, one needs to
3
discuss his issues why Taz is behaving like this. It requires an impressive language and gesture
to interact.with the patient so that he feels comfortable to discuss the problems he is facing now.
In addition, various medical professionals also need to improve their communication skills with
care users. These are the techniques to make communication effective:
Care workers are required to talk with users in second language to understand his
problems as well as to make him understand about services. This will minimize
miscommunication between them.
Other authorities in health care centres should take feedbacks in a periodic time with
users of service. It will lead them to overcome shortcomings and improve their working
efficiency.
By time to time inspection of medical professionals, the care centre can improve the
drawbacks and will increase the skills of staff members (Lamkanfi, 2016).
Involvement of each member in care home and taking suggestions from them is an
effective technique to communicate care users like Taz. This way, the care providers of
rehabilitation centre will get recommendations of senior medical professionals. It will
lead them to work in sink and also enhance their ability to interact with vulnerable
patients like Taz.

Q 5. Analysis on managing tension to enable Harry to cook his meal safely and responsibility to
ensure his safety and that of others
Mr. Harry has a disease of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and also he has been
diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. Due to which he has to meet with his psychiatrist on a regular
basis. He has been semi dependent on nurse for his mental condition. In current situation, he
raised a choice to visit to a local supermarket and for purchase the needed items to cook his
favourite meal rice and peas with jerk chicken (Ocloo and Matthews, 2016). Now, for support
his need of taking meals it is required to empower him in social, physical and intellectual
decision making. It will make him self dependent to fulfil his dietary needs. He should be trained
well so that he can understand his responsibilities and duties. However, he should be permitted
to cook his favourite meal in the guidance of a care worker. This will enable him to do his work
easily and efficiently. It would make him cook his meal securely and easily. The tension needs to
be managed by notifying and controlling whole processes. They should also monitor the action

plans of Harry. By this, he will be able to perform his tasks on his own as well as will be guided
by the care worker on the spot so that he would not indulge in any emergencies and he could not
harm other customers in supermarket. To provide long term solution, there should be a regular
care worker appointed to monitor, supervise and control Mr. Harry's activities and needs to be
with him at least till the time he starts recover from the bi-polar disease from which he is
suffering now.
Task 3
Q 6. Case study on Mr. Philip to identify the extent to which individuals are at risk of harm
Mr. Philip who is a patient of dementia and is living with two of his sons. Currently he
has referred to a residential home because he is a victim of domestic violence and social abuse.
His son had beaten him very badly as Mr. Philip used his towel for drying himself. He got lots of
stitches on the wounds. He was still earning and not dependent on his sons. He wanted to live
alone because if return to his sons, they might beat him again. Even he felt that he could be
killed by his sons some day. He thinks to attempt suicide before his sons kill him. So in this case
there are many harms and risks involved to Mr. Philip. He had beaten by his children just to use
their towels by mistake. By this incident he is in a state of dilemma so much that he thinks to die
himself before they make an attempt to kill their father (Roberts and Chapman, 2017). The risk
factor arises highly when loved ones of people beat them and even think of kill them. It
generates the shocking state of mind a great terror in patients like Mr. Philip. Instead of giving
proper care and support in this mental illness, the sons of Philip are trying to harm him badly and
might kill any other day. This is totally illegal. It led Mr. Philip to think at extent that he should
kill himself rather than killed by own children so that after his death, he and both his children
can live in peace thereafter.
Q 7. Management of organisational systems and processes to promote participation and
independence of Mr. Philip in care home
It is known that Mr. Philip has been suffering from Psychological disease that is
dementia. He has been beaten several times by his sons and also they could try to kill him
anytime if can get an opportunity. So he has sent to a residential home care centre for his safety
and security. Now it has become their duty to provide proper emotional and health care to Philip.
Also, the members of care centre should prevent him to beaten by his sons as they can try this
even at the health care centre by giving excuse to meet their father (Rolls and et. al. 2016). The

Effectiveness of policies and procedures
within a health and social care for
administering medication:
There are various health and social care
policies that different residential and health
care centres use. Some of them are:
Standardised delivery of care with
inter professional team: Each and
every service provider needs to work in
sync and should maintain the
coordination in between all members.
They are also required to give the best
health care to their users (Stewart and
Wild, 2017). This way the patients and
care users can recover in a much better
and effective manner. The service users
can improve very fast by this. If the
staff members of such health care or
any rehabilitation centre maintain a
coordination, they can treat every
patient in a good way.
Focus of patients: All policies and
every procedure needs to focus on the
user of that service and not on service
providers. This should be the main goal
of care givers on service users like Taz.
All the patients have to be given
importance and also their needs should
be on top of all workers' priority. They
need to work in such a manner that
every care user can improve its health
and any kind of physical or mental
disability.
Management of performance: The
performance of various service givers
should be measured now and then in a
certain time gap. They are required to
be analysed regularly so that
improvements in them can be noted
and if there is any need of change that
will also be measured effectively.
The proper guidance should be given to
care givers to handle small tolls and
machine equipments. Even they are to
be guided on their first day itself on
how to utilize the machinery in a
proper way. This way, it will be very
easy to make correct use of such tools
and will be beneficial for both the
