2.3 Types of CSR activities undertaken
Corporate social responsibility is a broad and wide concept which focuses on creating an
effective impact on the organizational growth and development. Various units undertake
different CSR tactics in order to create a wide impact on the society. The major types of CSR
activities adopted by the business units according to the Vanhamme and Grobben, (2009) include
the measures which have been discussed henceforth.
Economic responsibilities are one of the major responsibility that a business unit adopts
which aims at earning high profits to ensure suitability and business growth within the
competitive market. The growth of business is the sole ail of the companies however
management and investors has the responsibilities and associated people with the companies as
well (Lindgreen and Swaen, 2010). Business crises for the company may create an adverse
impact on employees, investors and shareholders. The downfall of the company results in similar
impact on them as well. Thus economic responsibilities of the business are considered as one of
the major aim of the business unit. For example continuous continuous loss in Nokia endangered
the economic growth of the company which resulted in the sustainability of the business
(Parguel, Benoît-Moreau and Larceneux, 2011). The company however merged with Microsoft
in order to ensure the growth of employees and shareholders associated with the business.

Legal responsibilities of the company is yet another significant responsibility under CSR
activities. The profitability and growth of business is inconsiderable if the organizations are
unable to adopt the legal laws and regulations for the growth and development of business units.
This in turn results in creating an adverse impact on the brand image of the company (Colleoni,
2013). Issues such as transparency of informations, Unlawful practices, frauds etc. are the
practices which are not right and businesses avoid such practices for mere economic benefits.
For example recent spring crises in Tesco due to over representation of organizational profit
created a huge impact on the brand image of the company. This resulted in losing huge
consumers and employees thus resulting in heavy losses for the unit.
Ethical responsibilities in the companies are demanded widely for developing global
brand image within the economy. These responsibilities of the companies include activities such

Clark, (2002) defines research methodology as a systematic approach of evaluating the
research problem and developing overall analysis around key research issues. It helps researcher
in developing an in-depth analysis of various research approach to create an in-depth
understanding of the topic and developing a well structured approach to deal with the issue as
well. Research onion is an effective measure in which research problem lies in the center and
thus several layers needs to peel away for resolving a single research problem (What is research
methodology? definition and meaning, 2015). The objective of the present report is to evaluate
the impact of CSR communication on an event venue. In order to attain the stated objective the
researcher will adopt research onion approach to attain the desired results for the study. It will

This is the outermost layer of the research onion. This layers focuses on developing the
effective approach for developing a research. Research philosophy is defined as a well developed
cluster of beliefs developing ideas about how to approach the research issue to attain desired
outcome (Johnson and Christensen, 2008). Research philosophy helps the researcher is
determining effective measures of resource allocation to utilize the limited constraints of time,
cost and resource efficiently. The major method adopted to carry out research philosophy is
interpretivism and positivism. Positivism concept deals with the objective concepts of the
research while interpretivism discusses the subjective issues of the research.
The current research focuses on analyzing the CSR communication strategies and its

The current research focuses on analyzing the CSR communication strategies and its
impact on event venue while referring Hyde Park of London as the case. In order to successfully
achieve the set objectives the researcher has adopted the mixed approach to develop an effective
result for the research problem. Positivism is a highly structured strategy which helps in
16
developing clear impact of set standards and universal concepts of the theories and philosophies.
For the current report this strategy helps in developing an in-depth idea about various measures
of CSR communication and the concepts which helps in developing an effective impact of the
same (The Selection of a Research Approach, 2014). This helps in developing a well structured
understanding of the concepts while developing the fundamental base for the subject.
Interpretivism on the other hand has been adopted in order to take a soft approach for the
research. It focuses on considering the social and environmental behaviors significantly for the
research. CSR activities are widely involved with social development and society upliftment.
Considering these factors current report has adopted Interpretivism philosophy (McMillan and
Schumacher, 2014). The application of this strategy helped researcher in gaining an effective
insight about consumer perception about various communication strategies Hyde Park uses for
CSR activities. Implementation of this strategy was of significant significance to the researcher
as it helped in minimizing the gap between research subject and researcher's knowledge.
Interpretivism helped the researcher in developing a clear understanding of the issues and
prospects of the research problem. Hence current research has adopted both the measures to
effectively analyze the research problem and attain the probable solution for the same.
3.3 Research approach
This layer of the process carries out an effective measures of analyzing research issues by
applying effective approach to deal with the given issue. Prior to setting research philosophy
researchers seeks to set a developed plan for research approach. This layer focuses on setting an
effective measure of developing measures to create effective analysis of the study. Researchers
focuses on implementing right measures of approaching the study (Zikmund and et.al., 2013).
Inductive research approach and deductive research approach are the two major ways of
approaching the research problems. Research design helps in choosing appropriate research
approach for the current investigation (Deduction & Induction, 2014). Deductive research design
is the in which uses various methods and studies to attain the conclusion of the research. This
approach develops an effective hypothesis and develops various strategies for testing hypothesis.
This method is a bit complex but highly effective to develop a clear analysis for the given
problem. Inductive research approach on the other hand is the one which use the collected data
and analyze the same in order to draw the effective conclusions. Here researcher uses data
analysis measure for a clear understanding.
17
For the current report this strategy helps in developing an in-depth idea about various measures
of CSR communication and the concepts which helps in developing an effective impact of the
same (The Selection of a Research Approach, 2014). This helps in developing a well structured
understanding of the concepts while developing the fundamental base for the subject.

and analyze the same in order to draw the effective conclusions. Here researcher uses data
analysis measure for a clear understanding.
17
Current research problem seeks to find out the impact of communication strategies on
CSR activities of the company. The research topic is vast and highly exploratory. In order to
create a successful research approach for the same inductive research study has been applied for
the same (Pantin-Sohier, 2009.). The researcher collected data from the consumers and
prospective consumers of events venue in order to get a clear and effective perception for the
topic. Moreover this measure significantly helps in saving time and developing different
understanding about the current issues. The inductive research seeks to create an effective and
clear impact of the theories and models for the current research. The researcher efficiently used
effective measures to attain the results in favour of the research problem. This approach develops
a deep and clear understanding about the specific concepts of the study and refers to all the
general concepts to validate the same.
3.4 Research strategy

3.5 Research choices
Research choices are the layer which seeks the appropriate and research method for the
given study. This deals with various choices the researcher have in order to carry out the research
effectively. Research choices for the researcher are accustomed to various constraints such as
time money and resources as well. Thus these measures are dependent on the availability of
resources and seek to make the best and maximum utilization of available resources (Sunil and
et.al, 2014). On the basis of current research Author attempts to evaluate the impact of various
communication strategies on CSR activities with reference to Hyde Park.
There are multiple research choices available with the researchers. In order to carry out
the research efficiently researcher adopts a a mixed method approach where both qualitative and
quantitative measures are applied for the study. Qualitative research measures helps the
researcher in developing an in depth analysis of research problem. This method helps in
understanding the subjective concepts of CSR activities of the organization. This measure
develops effective theoretical perspectives for the research issues. The method of data analysis
proves to be a significant factor of carrying out the qualitative research (Formulating the
research design, 2015). Consumers perception and theoretical knowledge is efficiently used and
applied here to gain an in depth knowledge of the given issue. Consumer’s perception is not
similar always, considering the same qualitative method helps in evaluating subjective theories
of research.
Quantitative measures on the other hand have been adopted in order to gain a clear and
concise information for the research. These are the numerical and quantitative data which helps
the researchers in gaining a valid information for the research (Golafshani, 2003). For the present
study the researchers collected the data and represented same in the qualitative measures using
