INTRODUCTION
Leadership refers to the individual capacity to lead a group or a team. There are different
types of leadership style that are used by the organization in managing its employees as per the
requirement. Its objective is to provide direction to the group to achieve business objectives. This
report focusses on the leadership case study based on which some questions are required to be
answered.
MAIN BODY
1. Compare and contrast the leadership style of Michael, Rosie, and Leyla
The leadership style used by Michael, Rosie and Leyla are different from each other. A
detailed analysis is given below.
Michael
The leadership style used by Michael is visionary leadership style. This form of
leadership style involves the leaders who recognizes the methods and processes through people.
The leader involves its employees while taking decisions not directly but indirectly. The leader
has the ability to initiate the change along with the ability of others. The visionary leader has
three main characteristics (Zavotsky and Easter, 2018). First is risk taking, all about change and
change means risk taking. Michael was very excited to the challenge to expand its business
outside Southern Califonia and also he took the risk to make someone else takes his position and
look after the business operation (Joshi, 2019). Second is listening, Michael used to talk to its
workers and takes interest their personal life and well being and considers them as his family.
Third is taking responsibility, Michael took the responsibility to make his workers happy by
organising barbecue and sports events where they can enjoy a day with the family. All this
reasons makes CW the place where people liked to work.
Rosie
Rosie used autocratic leadership style where she used give instructions to the workers on
how to perform the work and her own rules which are required to be followed. In this leadership
style, the leaders holds the power of authority and takes decision without consulting anyone.
They only communicate the final decision or change and requires prompt implementation with
little or no flexibility. The same in the case of Rosie, she has made her own rules and delegates
responsibility irrespective of the fact employees are willing to take it or not. Like in the case of
trainer, Rosie started giving additional responsibility to the trainer which made him frustrated

trainer, Rosie started giving additional responsibility to the trainer which made him frustrated
and also the trainer was not provided with the necessary stuff. Rosie was also not interested in
small talks.
Leyla
Leyla uses democratic leadership style for leading her team. In this form of leadership,
leader brings together the team with some responsibility (Rifaldi, Ramadhini and Usman, 2019).
This leadership style helps in creating and developing an effective team and also provides
support to the team as and when required. It assists individuals in identifying their strengths and
how they complement each other. Leader also helps in resolving conflicts if arises (Fiaz, Su, and
Saqib, 2017). The same is in the case of Leyla, she followed the same legacy as followed by
Michael in some form not exactly. Being a production worker made easy for her to manage the
team. She used to interact with the employees frequently, also implemented open door policy and
has also set her work station near to her team so that a proper communication can be established
between them. Leyla consults with her team members before taking any decision about the new
design. She sometimes even process until all the workers are on-board with the decision. Her
team is happy with her leadership style.
As compared to Rosie, the Michael's leadership style is completely different as for
Michael workers were like family and for Rosie worker were nothing more than an employee.
Both the style has the common objective but the way to achieve it was different. Rosie a separate
work station where she spends her time and occasionally come by to check the performance of
the workers (Al Khajeh, 2018). On the other hand, the leadership style used by Michael and
Leyla were similar in respect to taking into consideration the well being of the employees. But
the dissimilarity between the two is that visionary leadership style providing motivation to the
employees whereas the democratic style was motivating but in a negative way that the workers
are losing focus from their work resulting lack of desired result. Like Leyla used to take
decisions taking into consideration the views and opinion of each employee and she even stops
the production before everyone is onboard with the new idea or design. On comparing the Rosie
and Leyla's leadership style both are completely different in terms of application like Rosie has
less interaction with the workers as compared to Leyla who frequently has communication with
the workers.

2. Challenges faced by Rosie and Leyla in leading their team and the danger in having Marc in a
leadership role
Even though Rosie and Leyla thought their leadership style is good, they had to face
some major challenges in managing its team. A detailed description is given below.
Challenges faced by Rosie
Firstly, the trainer started feeling frustrated because of the additional work assigned with
necessary resources and also new recruits were not having required skills which created a major
challenge for her. Being a good designer she came up with her own designs and dictated it to the
workers and she was not malleable to accept any changes or amendments in her design. Thus,
workers stopped giving input report to her. Another challenge was under her leadership, there
were several mistakes in the production. The worker were very unhappy with her and were not
able to attain the desired results which prompted a challenge for her. Also, there were several
other things that were bothering her. These challenges arise because of the leadership approach
used by Rosie. The style completely ignored workers and their well-being which caused
dissatisfaction.
Challenges faced by Leyla
Leyla was good in her leadership style as compared to Rosie and the team was happy and
satisfied with her. The one of the challenge she is facing is the reduction in the production
process and also the several complaints have being received for her team. Also, when she was on
leave Marc handled her task and in order to show his efficiency which has lead to the change in
the working environment and pressure on the workers. Also, Marc stolen her design and
presented it as his own and despite the confrontation with the worker. Leyla's leadership style
was good but which was too lenient on worker used take every decision after consulting each
worker which caused disruption in the production otherwise workers were happy and satisfied
from her.
Possible danger in having Marc in the leadership role
Even for sometime, Marc leads the team which made it clear what will happen if he is
provided with this responsibility earlier itself. His on the mission to prove Michael that
production could be increased and improved. It set the deadline and reduced the lunch and break
time of the workers and started shouting at the workers in order to drive production process

workers.
To understand it properly, Dark Triad model is used. It refers to the three negative
personality traits which includes narcissism, psychopathy and machiavellianism.
Narcissism: It is characterized by ego, vanity, superiority, dominance, gratification in a person.
Machiavellianism: It refers to the manipulation, focussed on self interest, calculative and
personal gain.
Psychopathy: It includes insecurity, callousness, impulsivity, bold behaviour.
All these traits creates a personality that can be damaging and toxic (Vize and et.al,
2019). Dark Triad has analysed all the three personalities and all these acts aggressively out of
empathy and are skilled at manipulation and deceives others. Such people usually violates the
social norms, lie, cheat and steal. Psychopathy and Machiavellianism are more closely and
related because of their malicious behaviour while narcissism are more fragile. All these three
traits lack honest and integrity, faithfulness and sincerity.
Thus, it can be said from the above points that Marc is a psychopathy as he posses all the
characteristics of it which includes aggression, lack of empathy, depression, stress, insecurity and
interpersonal problems, lying, cheating etc. Marc has stolen the design of Leyla and implemented
it even though workers were confronting it and also he was shouting on the workers.
3. Recommendation to develop leadership that would help Michael to be better leader
As disused above Michael is a good leader as they use visionary leadership style which is
quite beneficial for them. But he need to improve it more in order to guide other people as well
for performing much better than before (Bhaduri, 2019).
By developing discipline in its professional life Michael can make themselves a effective
leader. He recommended to practice discipline because it helps them to inspire other to be
disciplined such as Leyla and Rosie.
To improve and develop leadership Michael must take on more accountabilities, he
should step out of their comfort zone as it is the best way to learn anything new and
doing, so will obtain them noticed by executives as someone who take initiative.
Michael is a good leader, he does not need to focus on its leadership skills, but he must
develop it more than before. He never threatened when some other person are disagreed
with him, puts forth ideas of their own and questions his thinking. He must be open mind
workers.

with him, puts forth ideas of their own and questions his thinking. He must be open mind
and provide merit where merit is due, it will be easy, but when they learn to value others
on its team, workers will be more likely to set up to plate for him.
Michael should recognize that his job is getting workers to want to do what they ought to
do. He always grew his competencies and develop current skills which make him a good
leader (Maurer, Hartnell and Lippstreu, 2017).
He must recognize that although his team may be very able, he were placed in that job for
a reason. Michael brings a perspective that worker may lack, known what it is and make
assure he known what it is too.
Michael develop his leadership by inspiring other people in their team, being a leaders
means that he is a part of team, and as a senior he always able to inspire and motivate
other such as Leyla.
Rosie with the good leadership style manage their work, but they do not be able to
become a good leader, she followed her own rules and set up without consultation.
Michael must give training to Rosie, he guided her how to encourage team member and
treat them in order to build strong relationship with them. Training is the best way to
enhance leadership style of Rosie and Leyla.
Michael should direct Rosie how to treat employees and provide information about the
benefits of employee participation in decision-making process.
Leyla as discussed above was good in her leadership style, but still some complaints
about her team performance impact on its leadership, she need more improvement and
developing with it. Michael will help her out of this situation, he gave training that
develop and improve the way she led her team at workplace while working in CW
company.
The suggestion for Michael for training Leyla is based on her work, he direct her to focus
on team building skills which is very important to increase productivity of team, without
working together and collaborative practices team performance cannot be improved. As it
help to achieve organization objectives and aims effectively.

management of the organization and its employees. It has a direct link with the performance and
productivity of the employees of the organization which means if employees are happy and
on its team, workers will be more likely to set up to plate for him.
