for writing training materials and documenting the entire project work that was carried out.
Management of quality programs was my main area of responsibility.
CE 1.3 Distinctive Activity
CE 1.3.1 Detailed Technical Approach of project
I had to conduct fiber testing of samples on AFIS or Advanced Fiber Information System
for the purpose of lea strength and nap count. Testing of tensile strength of fabric samples was
carried out by using Strip Test. This test was in accordance with the American Society for
Testing and Materials or ASTM Standards. The fabric samples were also tested for shrinkage
and colourfastness by using Scorch Tester. I had even conducted various tests for determining
the effect of washing agents and different bleaching agents on colour contrast and brightness of
the fabric samples. Testing atmospheric effects on the fabric samples were carried out by using
UV Light Accelerated Weathering Tester that stimulated rain, dryness and sunlight. I had to send
samples of fabric to clients for getting their approvals. After carrying out all the tests and getting
client approvals, I had to provide technical specifications as well as approved samples to the
suppliers.
CE 1.3.2 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
I have utilized my textile engineering skills and knowledge for accomplishing this
project. The key skills that were required and utilized in this project were designing skills and
creativity. My excellent knowledge about materials and fabrics was useful in the successful
completion of this project. My critical thinking ability has helped in the selection of appropriate
fabrics and testing its quality. I have applied my knowledge for designing the quality plan as well
as quality parameters. I was able to utilize my excellent textile engineering skills to select

samples according to quality standards and plans. I have applied my technical skills to
effectively and efficiently prepare the Technical Product Detail Plan.
CE 1.3.3 Accomplishment: Results and Outcome
Proper planning had led to the successful completion of this project within the required
time period. The bedding fabric had met required characteristics and quality standards. Regular
meetings were held for modifying and improving existing plans and activities. Progress
monitoring was done on a regular basis for achieving high quality standards. The accurate
Technical Product Detail Plan was delivered to the TPM on time. Correct technical details and
specifications of the bedding fabric had helped in meeting the required quality standards. I had
applied my strong interpersonal skills to motivate the project team members and cooperate with
our TPM. My creativity and decision making ability had played a significant role in the
accomplishment of this project.
CE 1.3.4 Identified issues and their solutions
1.3.4.1 Issues
I had identified that the quality of final textile fabric was not as per quality standard due
to hairiness of yarn. It was seen that yarn hairiness was affecting the appearance of bedding
fabric. Yarn hairiness was causing difficult for TPM to make fine designs. Another issue was the
fault in the documentation design. The initial document was not in compliance with standard
quality of technical documents.
1.3.4.2 Solutions
I had suggested certain spinning techniques such as JetRing and Nozzle-Ring Spinning
for reducing the hairiness of yarns. Nozzle-Ring spinning utilizes the features of air-jet and ring

spinning techniques. In JetRing spinning an air nozzle is placed below spinning triangle on the
ring frame. I had mentioned these suggestions in the technical report for guiding our TPM. The
documentation issue was resolved by applying proper technical knowledge and utilizing
designing skills. I had undertaken relevant research study to find out appropriate documentation
templates for designing and preparing the Technical Product Detail Plan. I had utilized my
problem solving skills to find out the exact defect and rectify it in an effective manner.
