CE 2.2 Background of the Project
CE 2.2.1 Basic Project’s Characteristics
An effective designing and construction of the earthquake resistant structures
comprise of higher importance in the entire world and hence structural engineers utilize
various materials to view the most unique and noteworthy properties of every material being
structurally robust in nature. In this project work, I have structurally designed and analyzed a
13 storied building with Etabs software. Since, I was the engineering technologist, I even had
to provide technical support as well as services to the engineers and other professionals,
working in this project. Post analysis of the subsequent structure, maximum story
displacements, bending moments as well as maximum shear forces are being eventually
computed or compared in this project work. The material property that I undertook for this
project was linear static and hence it was possible for me to perform dynamic analysis. Such
nonlinear analyses were being carried out after proper consideration of distinctive seismic
zones, before the behavior with type II soil conditions. I even had to plot various response
such as base shear and displacements. Hence, in the project work, we had to provide a

compact designing for G + 13 storied building project for the core purpose of making it more
improvised in comparison to other similar buildings.
CE 2.2.2 Developed Objectives for the project work
I had to eventually ensure that my design of the building is absolutely correct in terms
of safety and security and even is quite efficient and effective in nature. I also had to analyze
the design for making this particular building exceptionally advanced as well as modernized.
Thus, to execute the project with utmost efficiency and efficacy, few major objectives were
eventually developed and these are as follows:
 To give a safe and structured design for the project of Structural Designing of 13
Storied Residential Building.
 To develop engineering drawings and designs from the preliminary sketches and
concepts.
 To complete the project within given deadline and resources so that I do not overrun
the budget and time.
 To utilize Etabs software for proper analysis and structural design of the building to
be constructed.
 To utilize software of AutoCAD regarding reinforcing and drawing of the details for
project.
 To contrast the results, obtained from Etabs software with my manual calculations.
 To conduct or supervise inspection as well as testing of the construction materials.
CE 2.2.3 My working area in the project work
Being one of the most experienced engineering technologist as well as expert in Etabs
software, I have not faced any type of complexity while giving the completed designing of
this residential building complex with 13 stories. In my previous projects, I have provided

assistance and technical support to several engineers and technicians, I did not face any issue
I completing this particular project work. My project supervisor had full confidence upon me
and provided me with the essential duty to design 13 storied building.

CE 2.2.5 My main responsibilities and duties throughout this work
My first and the most important responsibility was proposing an accurate and proper
design for the 13 storied residential building. I have learned about calculations for several
bills and quantities and then ensured that I have got full understanding of structural and
architectural drawings. I had to prepare construction specifications, material and cost
estimates, reports and project schedules. I even conducted or supervised field surveys,
technical investigations of topography for making the project outcome even more effective. I
