CHALLENGES WITH GENDER VARIANCE AT WORKPLACE1
Introduction
Diversity within a workplace id indicated by the recruitment of a
variety of individuals in the organization where each individual differs from
the others in terms of caste, religion, background culture, complexion,
gender and many other aspects. Incorporating a diverse workforce in the
organization by the recruiting professionals not only allows for tangible
benefits such as creativity and innovation, but also enhances the business
value to leave behind the competitors in the market (Sakdiyakorn and
Wattanacharoensil 2018). However, this phenomenon incorporates various
challenges that the new-age management systems are trying to
overcome. This paper highlights one such diversity issue and discusses the
solutions demonstrated by the approaches of management.
Diversity Issues
Accepting a fellow worker in the job environment and respecting the
individual in spite of cultural differences is a major issue that occurs due to
the existence of people from diverse cultural backgrounds. If the
employees are not able to accept their co-workers who belong from
different culture or religion and respect them for who they are, it is bound
to destroy the harmony in the atmosphere of the office (Nielsen and
Madsen 2017). Sometimes, the employees tend to impose their own
beliefs regarding any matter on other members at the workplace leading
to spats and scenarios of violence, which is undesirable from the
management of any organization.
Some organizations alludes physically or mentally challenged human
beings a chance to serve in spite of their shortcomings. However, the
other employees who do not have such issues often misbehave these
disabled people. This leads to the discouragement of the disabled
members and they tend to feel left out from the organizational culture.
Diversity issues are also common between people belonging to different
genders where the males tend to dominate the females in spite of their
talent (Khan et al. 2019). Both the young and old generation face issues in

diversity due to the generation gap that exist between them.
Communication and language diversification is another major issue in a
workplace.
Gender Diversity Issues
Gender Diversity is referred to the segregation of the male
employees from the female in an organization in terms of facilities, salary
structure, responsibility, workload, flexible shift timings and many other
aspects. Firstly, due to this categorization in various organizations, the
recruiting managers does not provide equal chances to women as they do
to men in the interview process (Zahid et al. 2020). According to their
perception, women might not be able to manage multiple tasks while
serving their job roles as responsibly as men will do so and thereby fail to
provide equal opportunities to them as men. In this way, many skilled and
talented women experts do not even get a chance to prove themselves in
the work sphere.
Even though there are advancements in every professional field,
many organizations feel that only men can perform certain tasks
efficiently and they do not allow the women to be recruited in such job
profiles. For instance, many film directors feel that women cannot do
action stunts in movies that requires immense fight sequences or jumping
from high cliffs (Krivkovich et al. 2017). According to them, only strong
men are suitable for such roles. Again, in the hotel industry, a woman is
given the role of a receptionist even though she has the talent of cooking
because many hoteliers hold this perception that a woman will not be able
to withstand the immense heat generated in the kitchen for long hours.
Even in other industries too, a male leader has high chances of leading the
organization than a female (Morehead Dworkin and Schipani 2018).
Furthermore, if a female leader fails in any venture, they are hold
responsible for failure just because of their gender.
Women are quite dominated in the professional sector because it is
the predominant belief of the society that they are meant to manage the
