a) How would you describe your cultural
perspectives and/or biases and why?

a) Working as a nurse in an acute care setup, I
often faced a number of challenges in interacting
with the patients as well as my peers. I often
have to come across people from different
nationalities, who has difficulty in understanding
the local languages. Additionally, the lack of
delivery of culturally aware nursing care
practices often results in high rates of discharge
against medical advice.
b)the limitations in the self and social awareness
could be attributed to a number of reasons such
as :
i. communication gaps
ii. lack of effective in-house training sessions
c ) the self and social awareness in the nursing
professional can be improved though a number
of ways such as:
i. provision of teamwork sessions which will
help in the development of an understanding
bond with the team members
ii. the nursing professionals need to be trained
around the cultural and social norms affluent
