1. The living style of aboriginal people is based on their specific culture and values which
are the major factors leading to various health problems and do not allow anyone to
provide them medication. Accordingto beliefs to aborginal peopleifperson is not well
than the individual is struggling with some possession of some special powers (Rush,
Healy and Arunachalam,2015). Apart from this, there is lack of communication which is
the major factor that is impacting the health of indigenous people because Australian
health organisation do not take effective measures to interact with the indigenous society
and if in case, some aboriginal patients comes to health organisation, then the person
faces discrimination. Thus, it has been determined that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait
Islander clients in Australian health sector are suffering from malnutrition.
2. In order to facilitate effective participation of Torres islander in Australian society, it is
important for the society to consider and change the cultural realities like, the people
should not face discrimination due to their different living style and culture, creating
awareness about the indigenous people and improvement measures, increasing
participation in work activities, allowing people to mingle with Australian society,
encouraging education and knowledge. Further, advising on ant racism and determining
the respect for culture, value and beliefs, equal mentoring to indigenous people in order
to make them aware about the norms of society. Thus, providing equal health care
facilities, education, employment and place to live are other realities which can promote
full participation of Torres Strait Islander (Smith and et.al.,2014).
3. Communicating with the indigenous people about improving their lifestyle, employment
opportunities, stable working and safe working conditions, equal access of living can
assist government and social workers in eliminating disparity and discrimination from
society. Apart from this, providing them space to stay with Australian society is the
factor which will assist in establishing stable environment for these people which will
assist them in growth. Thus, interacting with gestures and communicating about health
issues and proper diet special to women is the major strategy which can be implemented
to address cultural factors and can influence service delivery pattern.

4. There are various issues which are influencing workplace and professional relationship of
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The most common critical issue which have
been faced by indigenous people when working with Australian society is discrimination
which is based on culture, values and beliefs. Due to increasing discrimination, it has
been analysed that there are various female employees who suffer from sexual
harassment (Museus and Jayakumar, eds., 2012). Apart from this, the aboriginal people
get paid very less in comparison to their work. Moreover, the work of these people is not
offered according to skills instead, it is offered as per their living styles.
5. It is important for the health service workers to develop strong relationship with
aboriginal people because it is the major factor which will assist in improving status of
people by providing the knowledge about the healthy routines and practice of life.
Communicating about the hygienic practices, providing free health care services specially
to women, supplying food which can assist them in over coming malnutrition, creating
awareness about the healthy dietary routines, providing education, supplying basic food
and developing effective relationship are some strategies which can help the service
workers in improving relationship with indigenous communities.
6. Cultural safety is the factor which ensures equal respect and access to equal opportunities
to all the individuals of society regardless of their difference. Therefore, it is important to
implement cultural safety for aboriginal people which will assist the Australian society in
considering indigenous the equal part of society. Communicating with indigenous coo
workers will assist the society in analysing various problems and issue which needs to be
addressed. Thus, it is important to establish relationship between service providers and
indigenous communities because it will assist in developing trust, respect and help the
society in understanding cultural difference.
7. Communication is the best way to make people aware about the norms and societal
values which are important to establish cultural safe environment (Condon, Garvey,
Whop and Cunningham, 2013). The best way of interacting with aboriginal people is by
demonstrating them understanding about the importance of living under hygienic
standards, personally communicating about enhancing living patterns, making decision
for the society, providing equal access to opportunities, enabling employment

distance with Torres Strait Islander.
8. Cultural competence is the individual ability to understand which helps the person in
establishing change. The best way to enable cultural competence with aboriginal society
is by interacting with people about the changes. Further, enabling cultural competence
with cultural safety for Torres strait islander is to promote the lifestyle of people by
convincing them about the cultural safety measures which are focused on ensuring equal
respect and access to equal opportunities to all the individuals of society regardless of
their difference (Tang and et.al.,2015). Therefore, integrating both concept are based on
equal access to knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours to indigenous society.
9. It is important for the service providers to demonstrate the diversity of aboriginal people
with regard to caste, culture, values, believes, colour, skin etc. because it will assist in
creating awareness about the people and on the basis society discriminate them.
Educating people about the diversity will help the health care staff in managing change
and eliminating the concept of discrimination for Torres strait islander which will aid in
reducing the chances of cultural biases. Thus, involving Aboriginal people to oversee and
guide service delivery is the effective measure to enable knowledge about the diversity
(Hollinsworth, 2013).
10. It is important for the Australian health care organisation to organise regular cross
cultural training and assist in developing knowledge and creating awareness among
services providers about the diversity of society. In cross cultural training of health acre
community service staff, the management aims at making service providers aware about
cultural differences between nations, society and people. In this training, the staff

Torres strait islander (Bhui, Ascoli and Nuamh, 2012). Discrimination at workplace and
disparity in enabling opportunities to indigenous people is the clear cut situation which
demonstrates there is very less interaction among Australian society which needs to be
addressed. The unhygienic living condition, malnutrition, lack of knowledge among
females is the reason behind increasing health problems which needs to addressed by

participation of indigenous people because it is focused on development and promoting

information within same gender, this is their old ritual. Cultural awareness generates
cultural sensitivity, respect and consideration for different types of cultures present in the
entire universe (Smith and et.al.,2014). In general cultural safety is a measure for
ensuring that proper health and education services are provided to socially discriminated
people. In the given case, it involves proper medical and sanitation facilities for both
male and female for keeping them healthy and free from infections, Government should
organize free monthly checkups specially for women's.
2. Aborigines Protection Act 1869 : Powers related to marriage, employment and residence
are given to the government's Board for the Protection of Aborigines.
Half – Caste Act 1886 : This act was continuation and evolution of the Aboriginal
Protection Act.
Aboriginal Orphans Act 1844: It was enacted in 1844 for the people who are orphans.
Aborigines Act 1923 : In this act it is implemented that all the children who are below the
age of 18 should get proper training and education.
Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1976 : It is the basis on which Aboriginal people can claim
land in the Northern Territory.
3. In Australian society, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people acquires exceptional
position. Their traditions are considered as the scared cultures on earth and they are

from the last few years training and development services are conducted by the

should be inclusively designed for them for ensuring their growth and development in the

not have proper medical and health care facilities due to lack of information about it.
These people have to suffer a lot due to improper medical treatment.

for them to acquire skills in some particular area, which create major issue for establishing in the
society.
Psychological Issues, beggary, racism, social discrimination, orthodox, poor health are some
factors that forbid indigenous people to establish in the society (Van Dyne, Ang and Livermore,
2010).
5. Improper Nutrition : Due to lack of nutrition and immunity, Indigenous people have to
suffer a lot from various type of diseases.
Environment: The habitat in which they are living is very unhygienic and due to lack of proper
sanitation facilities.
Immunity, food adulteration are some other factors (Meara, Richards and Cutler,2017).
For proper body, healthy food is very important and it is very hard for indigenous people to
arrange high quality food which results into improper digestion and food poisoning.
6. Proper involvement of both public and private organizations can ensure healthy nation. It
is important for government to regulate measures for health and well being of all the
people of their country and specially the one who are socially discriminated (Rush, Healy
and Arunachalam,2015). This kind of services can be encouraged by generating
awareness among each and every individual regarding the problems and issues
discriminated people are facing (Museus and Jayakumar, eds., 2012). Their are various
factors which can increase the participation of Australian society by providing them the
resources like education, sanitation etc.

Torres strait Islander are people who have different beliefs and values with regard to
Australian society due to which these people goes of through various problems like health,
discrimination, unequal distribution of work and opportunities. These people goes off through
various problems such as malnutrition, low income, lack of place and food to eat, lack of
education, unemployment etc. Therefore in accordance to increasing health problems in Torres
strait Islander, it has been analsyed that it is important for the society to create awareness among
people about the healthy and safe practices. Therefore, to promote effectiveness living of
aboriginal people the health acre communities are focused on creating self determination among
people in which the communities are focus on creating awareness among people about the

healthy living practices in which the service providers are supplying basic healthy living
resource like, sanitary to females, protein and nutritional food etc. the fulfilment of basic needs
of these people is the example which demonstrate the effective engagement of health care
communities in developing living of Torres strait Islander. Further, to interact with aboriginal
people the best way is to Communication to make people aware about the norms and societal
values which are important to establish cultural safe environment. This strategy of creating
awareness will assist the care providers in developing the sense of hygienic practices among
indigenous people. In addition, this strategy will increase the service provider involvement and
participation with aboriginal method which will assist in establishing cultural safety. The best
way of interacting with aboriginal people is by demonstrating them understanding about the
importance of living under hygienic standards, personally communicating about enhancing living
patterns. Making people friendly with the environment of Australian society will assist in
representing improvement measures which will aid in development of societal values and
enhance cultural competence (Van Dyne, Ang and Livermore, 2010). Apart from this, according
to analysis, it has been determined that providing equal access to opportunities, enabling
employment work and earn opportunities are factors which aims at development increasing

ethical values and beliefs which promote equality as human being among people. It is the most

of knowledge and health care services. Working with the aboriginal people and communities is
the strategy which assist in determining the areas of improvement needs to change. This strategy
has it own pros and cons because in this the health care communities needs to enhance their
values of services and service providers in order to make their working process effective.
Collaborating efforts of both the sides needs a clear awareness about the living style, cultural
beliefs, health practices and eating habits of people (Thai and et.al., 2017). Cooperating and
coordinating efforts with these people will assist the health care communities in analysing
problems and issue of aboriginal society which needs to be addressed like, malnutrition, healthy
dietary routines, providing education, supplying basic food. In contrast, government has
regulated various act and legislation to protect the interest of Torres strait islander like,
Aborigines Protection Act 1886, Aboriginal Protection Act 1869, Aborigines (Training of
Children) Act 1923, National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 (NSW), Aboriginal Heritage Act
2006. This act by Australian government ensures that right of no indigenous people is exploited
and everyone working under healthy and safe working conditions. Apart from this these are
various regulates which aims at protecting the rights of people with regard to race, caste, beliefs,

It is the major role of the Australian government, to take necessary measures and provide
funds for the health management of the deprived category people of the society. A provision
should be made for the development of such people.
MEDICAL CAMPAIGNS:
Free medical campaigns can be set up by the health communities in order to improve the
health of the people belonging to such category.
MEDICAL FACILITIES:
In these campaigns, People belonging to this category should be provided with free
medical facilities such as medicines, free check ups,etc.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:
They should be given financial assistance related to any kind of medical emergency that
becomes a concern for those people.
SANITATION FACILITIES
Proper sanitation facilities, especially, to the women belonging to this category, should be
provided in respect that it should affect their health inversely.

 ASSESSING THE NEEDS:
The health community should assess various medical needs of the people in this group
and plan to fulfill most of the needs.
 INFORMATION CHANNELS:
Proper informating channels should be developed so that the Aboriginal people can
inform about their needs to the health communities and those communities can prosper upon
their needs.
 APPOINTING PHYSICIAN:
A full time physician should be appointed in such areas, where these people stay, so that
he/ she can help them in case of some emergencies. The physician should not have the attitude of
discrimination among those people.
 REGULATORY BODIES:
Proper regulatory bodies should be set up to look after all these activities. Whether the
Aboriginal people are getting the timely services as prescribed or not.
Hence, due to increasing health problems and discrimination in society due to cultural
diversity the government has set various protect rights for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
in which every individual has right to get employed and take health care services regardless of
their difference. Besides, Cross cultural training helps in developing knowledge and creating
awareness among services providers about the diversity of society. Further, to ensure for clinical
services the health care communities are responsible for organising regular cross cultural training
in which service providers are trained to deliver quality and safe health care facilities and
services to these people safety. Moreover, to support the growth of aboriginal sector the
government regulated flow of funds which is to help the society with basic nutritional diet and
health care services.
