Project
Part 1
For this assessment task, you are required to plan a learning experience that
encourages contributions by all cultural groups represented at your workplace
and provide opportunities for all children and families who use the service to
share cultural information and support diversity.
The experience you develop must promote participation by all cultural groups
represented at your workplace and meet the objectives of the National Quality
Framework, National Quality Standards, and Early Years Learning Framework or
another relevant approved learning framework used at your workplace.
You must document your experience using the following
Learning Experiences
Development Activity Sheet, making sure that your experience includes
opportunities for:
Families to share their cultural heritage, knowledge, and experiences,
including customs, celebrations, and beliefs
Promoting linguistic diversity
Children and their families to experience and appreciate cultural diversity
Developing positive attitudes to inclusion and cross-cultural understanding
Developing secure and respectful relationships between children, families,
and other adults

Learning Experiences Development Activity Sheet
Provide an outline of the group learning experience
In this learning experience targeted towards building strong inter cultural bonds,
the participants are engaged in an activity that I would call the “do or tell ball”.
The objective behind the activity is simple, the participants are allowed to either
tell a story (that they relate the most to their cultural background), or narrate a
life experience (that hold high significance for them). Alternately, they can also
showcase something, either art or song or dance or any form of traditional art
form that they have learnt or known.
The activity is developed keeping in mind that young children will be involved
who would or would not have any form of cultural knowledge or understanding.
Thus, instead of the cultural richness of the narratives or the act being the
primary focus, the highlight of this task is put on building a strong
communication and bonding.
The participant would first be made to sit in a circle and they would be assigned
random spots to increase inclusion and mixing of individuals from culturally
diverse backgrounds. There are two differently coloured balls, a blue and a
green that would be put in a bag. The participant would randomly pick up a ball
from inside the bag. The ball signifies that the participant would have to tell a
story or a life experience. The green ball entails that the participant must
perform something for the group.
In order to efficiently improve the children’s performance, they will be allowed to
accompany their performance or the narrative with the help of an adult. Here
the idea is not to gather a culturally rich narrative or performance from the child
but to enhance their participation and experience.
In order to release performance related anxiety issues, a small warm up/ice-
breaker game would be played initially.
Learning experience requirements
List the learning materials you require.
The group is inclusive of individuals from all cultures and communities in Australia as
represented in my workplace. The environment can be a classroom or a hall or even
an outdoor open area as seen fit during the activity.
The materials required for the activity would be an opaque bag, a small green
coloured and a small blue coloured ball. There can be storybooks or small props like
sticks or coloured clothes and papers that can also be kept so that the performer
can chose to use any of them as s/he finds fitting.
Outline the set-up requirements of the physical learning environment.
It is required that the set up of the learning environment should be fit to include
inter cultural diversity. The environment can be a hall where everyone can be
accommodated. However the most preferred environment would be a well lit
outdoor environment where everyone can experience the freedom and the serenity
of nature while they partake in the learning experience.
The learning environment will be uncluttered and spacious to provide more
opportunity to the participants to engage in activities and tasks. There will be minor
props for the participants to use while performing. A provision for a portable music
system and some musical instruments can also be made. The participants will also
be encouraged to bring their own musical instruments if they wish to.
In case of an indoor environment, there will be a provision for a small media system,
preferably a projector and a screen.
Lastly, I would be an optional addition, but a camera / handy cam can be used to
record the experience and develop a small video based story out of it.

Project v1.1 (2018/01/19)
Outline how the learning experience promotes participation by all cultural
groups.
The learning experience is inclusive of all the individuals as participants irrespective
of their socio – cultural background. That also includes the Indigenous Australian
communities, the Aboriginals and the Torres Strait islanders. Partaking in the ‘do or
tell’ activity while passing the bag around ensures that all the participants get an
equal opportunity at showcasing their talent or sharing their stories.
Outline how the learning experience encourages all families who use the
service to share their cultural knowledge, background, customs, and
traditions.
The core of the experience is a performance or narrative with the focus on culture
and tradition. Besides, the activity is designed to include all participants irrespective
of cultural diversity. It also includes the families from my workplace including their
children. By actively encouraging the families to participate in the experience, it
allows them to share their cultural knowledge, background, customs, and
traditions.
Outline how the learning experience provides the opportunity for children
and families who use the service to broaden their cultural diversity
experiences.
Through inclusivity in the experience, the children and the families using the service
are provided the opportunity to broaden their cultural diversity and experiences. All
the participants get an opportunity to either share a story or showcase a
performative art. This provides an opportunity for exposure to the participants of the
activity to different kinds of culturally diverse traditions and practices, thereby
enhancing their experience.
Outline how the learning experience promotes positive attitudes to
inclusion and cross-cultural understanding.
Firstly, the arrangement of the participants is made in such a way that they are
seated randomly (young children will not be separated from their parents unless
they wish to sit with their friends). This increases the opportunity for cultural
equality and communication.
Secondly, the activity is designed to engage, entertain and enhance the cultural
experience of the participants thereby promoting positive attitudes to inclusion
and cross-cultural understanding.
Outline how the learning experience promotes secure and respectful
relationships between children, families, and other adults.
By actively involving the families as well as their children in the experience, it is
ensured that a secure and respectful relationship between the children, adults and
the families are established and nurtured.
Explain how your learning experience is consistent according to the Early
Years Learning Framework, in particular Outcome 2.
The outcome 2 of the EYLF, (CHILDREN ARE CONNECTED WITH AND
CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR WORLD) States that the children are expected to foster
an understanding of the rights and responsibilities pertaining active community
participation, respect diversity and become socially responsible towards
environment 1. In that regard, the experience is fruitful as it promotes the children to
engage actively in community activities as well as through sharing their own and
experiencing the stories of others (many stories of Indigenous Australian
communities would involve love, reverence and respect towards the nature and
environment) while also taking part in performative activities, they grow a cultural
understanding, develop a respect and understanding towards diversity as well as
become socially and environmentally aware and responsible.
