Critical Analysis of Children's Health and Wellbeing Leaflets

This assignment critically analyses three different leaflets about children’s health and wellbeing, including emotional neglect and abuse, vaccination against flu, and asthma in children. The leaflets provide information on the importance of a positive foundation of health, factors that influence children’s health, and multidisciplinary partnerships and roles and responsibilities. The research studies show that emotional abuse or emotional neglect in pre-school children can lead to mental stress and negative social behaviour. Vaccination is the first step towards a better future and can protect infants against pneumonia and flu. Effective handling of asthma includes recognizing and eluding allergens those activate symptoms and consuming drug therapies and also development of an action plan against asthma attacks.

Ensuring best health services for infants and young kids is the mission of every school
and family. The community based services are working upon protective and risk factors for
long term healthcare of children (Sims, 2008). This is mandatory for the early growth and
healthy development of children. Emotional abuse and emotional negligence have a strong
impact over neural structures of the brain, leading to mental stress and negative social
behaviour. Emotional neglect and emotional abuse in infants-The research studies have
shown that out of 5 in every 20 children are undergoing through abandonment and desertion
in childhood. The acknowledgement of emotional abuse or emotional neglect in pre-school
children and providing important solutions for minimal harm is necessary (Drotar, 2002).
Although infants can experience child neglect or child abuse at any age, this is focused

towards 1-5 years old. What child behaviour is of greatest concerns to the parents? Infants are
less interactive with the other kids. The infants may act aggressive and hostile and irritated
while solving quizzes and complain that parents are unable to meet with needs. The kids may
show less imaginative work and become more publicly secluded, leading to less interaction
with other kids. The infants may show lesser attention towards parents and experience
problems in interpreting the emotions.
There are a few factors that make people fit and healthy. First is, social status, a
commonly observed facts is that people who have higher income tend to be happier than
others. And, the other one is education level, poor people do not have access to the education
and this leads to depression and lower-self-esteem (Sorsoli, 2004).
A critical awareness of multidisciplinary partnerships and roles and responsibilities-
Doctors suggest giving vitamin supplements to infants, for a healthy diet. Kids need to
exercise one hour at least in a day, or they may become unfit or over-weight. The parents can
play an ideal role model for the kids and this will be reflected in image of child. A common
problem observed during zero to three years- parents that are prone to excessive drugs or
alcohol, kids can be neglected. Most of the time, parents describe their kids as demanding
(Kennedy et al., 2007). In first few days of birth, the mothers may not be able to engage
emotionally with the kid. In first 2-3 years of the childhood, the parents may not be able to
involve emotionally with their kids. The parents are unable to understand the kid’s signals.
The parents mat get little aggressive and infants may start showing nervousness. A young
toddler will be quiet and they may become aggressive when they reach 2 to 3 years of age.
Most of the kids are occupied with their toys and less bothered when mothers are separated
from infant. The secured kids get upset on separation with mothers and greet with gestures
and smiles on return.

Emotionally abused infants may exhibit growing delay within the first two years
and this is especially visible in language and speech. This has a strong influence on
childhood behaviour, educational learning patterns and social performance. The
medical evidences suggest that fewer children are malleable to stress and have a
different behaviour in older ages. An emotional relationship should be developed
between a caregiver and infant.

Leaflet 2: 5 reasons to vaccinate your child against flue (Kingston hospital)
Health can be defined as-The state of complete mental and physical wellbeing and
non-existence of diseases in a body. Health is a vigorous state of mind resulting from
simultaneous adaptation to environmental changes and stress and the retention of equilibrium

in your body. One of the common problems reported today in kids is the flue. The symptoms
of flu in adults and babies are almost same. The kids may often report breathing issues and
can get infected with flu. Hundreds of infants are killed due to no longer paid attention by
the parents (Wright, 2007). There are hundreds of diseases that are extremely dangerous and
this has led to extinction of infants.
Following factors influence child’s health- Immunizing your child can save a life-
Today, the world has effective and safe vaccines and kids should be immunized to protect
from infectious diseases. Vaccination is the first step towards the better future. The vaccine
will protect your infant against pneumonia and flu.
Vaccinations are harmless and real. A movement is required to protect the
malnutrition of kids and vaccinating your kids is painless effort. All the vaccines used upon
kids, undergo strict testing and analysis by doctors and scientists (Green, 2006). Vaccinating
infants protects the others. The doctors suggest nasal spray, this can protect against the
harmful effects of flue. A medical record has proven successful results and has saved the life
of million kids.
There is adequate knowledge and alertness regarding Flue, not only in rural adults but
also in urban adults. Active involvement is required by the social groups. Immunization can
protect your child’s future-A child must be vaccinated after a watchful examination by a
doctor. Vaccination at the site of injection may cause redness or pain and few are prone to
allergic reactions as well. Vaccination can save your money and time. When an infant is
suffering with prolonged disease, the parents may have to spend longer time in hospitals and
this may end up in increasing to finance bills (Francis, 2017). An infant exist within a social
setting and it is the duty to support the optimum health and welfare of kids. The First five
years of every infant are very crucial and learning capacity is developed in this age itself. It
has been researched that more than 55 percent of kids are diagnosed with Asthma attacks and

Flue. The schools and families need to invest in very young ages and provide a positive and
growing environment. What leads to depression in later life? When a child is unable to
interact emotionally or express feeling or persistently ridiculed or denied or less of
opportunities are given. Out of every 10 infants, one is suffering from emotional abuse or
emotional neglect. The impassionate behaviour and stress is the result of carelessness and
desertion that happens to be during infancy. In order to solve this problem, the teachers and
family members continuously need to ‘urge’ the kids to speak out their emotions and interact
with peers.

The blockage of air in bronchial tubes or passageways leading to inflammation,
frequent experiences of breath shortness lead to a chronic disease called Asthma. The medical
sciences suggest that Asthma is most common in infants. Effective handling of asthma
includes recognizing and eluding allergens those activate symptoms and consuming drug
therapies and also development of an action plan against asthma attacks. Asthma has affected
more than 5 million people and this is one of the prime causes of abstinence from school,
colleges and work. Most of the asthma cases are reported due to inheritance problems and
few are susceptible to environmental causes. Apart from the advancement in medicine, there
is no remedy for asthma but effective therapies are available. In order to cope with asthma,
the young generation needs to meet with allergist. Medical sciences have stated two types of
asthma- Allergic Asthma- this is caused, when coming in contact with allergen. Non-allergic
Asthma- this is caused when exposed to flu or cold or strenuous exercise or pollutants in air
or stress and few allergic medications (Paulley, 2002).
The effective treatment of Asthma-Inhibition of symptoms is necessary. An individual
undergoing asthma attack should be able to monitor the situation that triggers attacks and try
to effectively manage the situations (Schatz, 2003). When experiencing a severe asthma
attack, long-lasting treatments can be provided with the help of an allergist to completely
eradicate the symptoms. If asthma is not spotted on time, it would increase the deaths of
infant and account s for 6 million deaths. More than 2 million people visit doctor for
treatment of asthma. Medical sciences have reported a significant increase in asthma rates.
There is number of effective medications available for the treatment of Asthma. Most people
require long term medicines or immediate relief medicines. Few patients are not willing to
take medications because of the immediate side-effects or risk assessed with same. A
recommendation with an allergist can be helpful (Honsinger, 2001).

Whether you are a health professional, caregiver, policymaker, playing a critical role
for achievement of health and well-being of life for patients with asthma and decrease
mortality and morbidity is the main goal.
The medicinal aim is to eliminate the symptoms and adjust the requirement of your
dosage based on your control and symptoms. In order to get instant relief inhaled beta2 is
taken. This is a bronchodilator drug that expands the air-tubes into lungs and improvises your
breathing technique (Kaur 2012). While inhaling beta2, mucus gets removed from the
pathways and can be coughed out easily. The air pathways may undergo bronchoconstriction
and this called as exercise-promoted asthma, recommendation suggest that consult with an
allergist or use medicines for any type of physical activity. The long term medicines are-
Methylyxanthines, Immunomodulators and Oral corticosteroids and Cromolyn sodium.
Asthma symptoms can be controlled for some time through instant relief medications. These
medicines will not control airway inflammation.
The infants may undergo slow growth; this is highly dependent on dosages. Long
term effects are unknown; an allergist can work upon finding the right medicine. The main
aim is to get the best health with least number of medicines. In the first five years of
childhood, the brain makes growth and shapes the mental health of an infant. During the
stress conditions, the strong relationships between parents and children can buffer the mental
state from significant injury (Jin, 2016).
