It discusses different strategies that educators and government can practice to curb the concern of truancy and absenteeism between students. The investigation uses a qualitative research approach to make a clear association amid absenteeism of students.

absenteeism registered in high schools and
related factors contributing to these

Definition of variables and key terms
School absenteeism is defined as the habit of
staying away from the school without the
provision of authentic causes for not being
available in class
Because of an increased rate of chronic
absenteeism that correlates with the growth
of student
This paper will emphasize the factors which
persuade the absenteeism between students
(Flick, 2014).

education, It focuses on the measure the
number of students who miss a specified
amount of school days.
This amount could be usually fifteen or more
days from school without providing any
actual causes (Gruenewald, 2014).

present in the school system (Suldo,
McMahan, Chappel, & Bateman, 2014).

Chronic absenteeism that is highly featured
by percentage of time duration a student is
out of school without authentic causes.
In current times, 10% of school days have
increased significantly (Morse, 2015).

over the years as it could negatively influence
the life of a student in both future and
academically life.
It has been identified from the investigation
that the rate of a student who cannot read
competently at the end of primary school
level. It is likely to leave from high school

their colleagues who fail to attend school

improving school attendance between

unconducive study atmosphere, housing
insecurity, violence between others and food.
Performing the strategies of reducing chronic
absenteeism in schools.
It is significant to assess the students who are at
risk hence we can intervene prior to their
isolated absence from schools moves towards
chronic absenteeism (Flick, 2014).

Research design
The research practices a qualitative approach
of research and also entails document
assessment, observation, and interview.
The interviews were thematically and
transcribed assessed using DeDoose software
for computer-assisted data assessment
(Childs & Grooms, 2018).

Sampling
The sample of respondents was chosen from
two schools in an urban town of Turkey in
which the target scholars were from grades 9
to 12.
In brief, 423 scholars were sampled out in
which 58.4% were boys whereas 41.6% were
boys comes under 15 to 18 years of age
(Gruenewald, 2014).

Methods of data collection
The practice of demographic data sheet was
practiced for collecting information. These
were managed by using School Assessment
Survey-Revised (SAAS-R) to gather the data
of scholars like their parent’s income, age,
academic qualification and existing
absenteeism between other aspects (Harriss,
MacSween, & Atkinson, 2017).

observation, interview and document
assessment as the key data gathering
techniques.
The interview questions emphasize on
involvement of community in the attendance
initiative, the part played by several entities
and the benefits of organizing and declining
the effects of chronic absenteeism in EPS
(Harriss, MacSween, & Atkinson, 2017).

Data-analysis procedures
The study focuses on utilizing statistical
Package for Social Sciences tool to perform
the correlation between the variables from the
information collected by SAAS-R techniques.
The SPSS was exercised to make the links
between the variances using a one-way
ANOVA for assessing whether there can be an
alteration in the dependent variable with the
changes in the independent variable
(Gruenewald, 2014).

The SPSS AMOS was practiced in the opinion
of the likelihood of the parameters with chi-
square and other error approximation in the
SPSS software (Gruenewald, 2014).

Ethics and human relations
This investigation emphasizes highly sensitive
concern in the education sector of the United
States.
There are several competitors in the education
field such as scholars have spent different years
in addressing significant method to decline
chronic absenteeism in schools.
But, it demonstrates that the solution to this
vice lies in the teamwork amid the local
organization and government as addressed in
this investigation (Morse, 2015).
