Introduction
The Civil War began with uncompromising differences between the slave and free
states over the authority of the national government to disallow slavery in the territories. In
1860, Abraham Lincoln won election as the first Republican president. Abraham Lincoln
took a pledge to keep slavery out of the territories and then seven slaves formed their new
nation. It segregated the United States into the various small countries. Changes and
amendments which are followed by the U.S. after the Civil War are reported in this paper. On
the basis of U.S. history some judgements are also mentioned in the report.
Task A
History
The new chapter of America was introduced after the Civil War. In January of 1865,
thirteenth amendment was passed in American history. After the end of the war, million of
African Amercian’s eradicated slavery from the United States. Former slaves travelled all
over the South, to look for their relatives who got separated during war. Former slaveholders
were in the situation of dilemma from the freedom, whether to show concern or anger
towards people in the country.
In North and South, black and white men and women began the work of forming new
social order and renewal of the shattered union. It was a reconstruction period for them. They
were disappointed by implementation of social orders in the nation. It was starting of a long
journey with the complexities and struggle which influence the people adversely.
In the constitution, two new amendments were added at the time of reconstruction
period. In 1865, the fourteenth amendment was implemented for granting the citizenship to
those people who born in the United States. New amendment was introduced to guarantee
that no American would be denied for their legal fundamental right of vote. But Americans
