Abstract
Context: The research context is reflected on development of mobile
devices with the cloud computing for facilitating the medical exchange of
data among the patients as well as doctors. Common people are getting
benefited from the healthcare services developed in the Android based
operating system.
Objective: The objective of this research study is to develop android
application for E-health system combined with the technology based on
cloud based data storage. By using Java programming language, the
android based mobile device is designed. There is development of
prototype of the application will connect to the cloud server plus
manipulate with information.
Method: Secondary research is performed where the data are collected
from the peer review journal articles based on selected topic. The software
development model is used to plan, design, arrange and manage Android
based E-health system. Development of patient’s and doctor’s end
application is followed by using waterfall development methodology.
Result: The Android based platform is developed and designed where the
user interfaces are for the patients and doctors to improve health, well-
being and provide advices on responses to the medical treatment.
Conclusion: From entire research study, it is concluded that the proposed
healthcare app is designed to give support to the patients and doctors.
The cloud based platform is chosen as main tools since of its compatibility
along with operability.

1. Introduction
1.1 Background
The thesis topic is reflected on development of android application for E-health
system based on cloud based data storage. By means of android application, the
patients can provide their symptoms details to the doctor. The implemented
functions in application are patient’s registration, appointment to the doctor,
module for doctor used by them to provide solution or prescribe medicines in
addition to suggestion for remedies for the patients based on their provided
details of symptoms. The main purpose of this paper is to introduce e-health
system for achieving transparency for the patients as well as doctors into current
health system. User friendly user interface as well as health data processing is
demand of the proposed application (Deshkar, Thanseeh and Menon 2017). This
innovative application is addressing health priorities evolved in field of electronic
health.
The current innovation discussed in this thesis paper changed due to
advancement of the healthcare system in various parts of entire world. As the
application is based on Android, therefore it contains 70% of the market of
Smartphone in entire world. The proposed application provides solution to those
patients who are tried to wait at doctor’s clinic and shy to disclose medical
conditions to the doctors face-to-face. With advent of this e-health application,
now the patients are at comfort zone and diagnosed in secured environment.
The research study addressed to refine the e-health application model to create
it easily accessible by the patients, encourage them to avoid self medication and
encourage interaction among patient and doctor (Peddi
et al. 2017). By means of
this app, patients can go for suggestions to any type of medical problems.
This paper provided with problems occurred at the time of offering healthcare
facilities to the patients. The mobile devices are facing issues due to lack of
standardization in hardware and software fragmentations. Android app
development for the operating system is provided freedom to researchers while
the application developer is facing issues in research work. Due to different types
of operating system versions, the researchers are found that it is difficult to
develop the app. It is impractical to be focused on recent android version as
most of the users are not always upgraded to latest operating system.
Framework on cloud computing will help the researcher to formulate on-demand
network access to configurable working out assets made easy. Due to use of the
cloud computing, it becomes easier to manage virtual server as compared to
physical server.
1.2 Aim and objectives
The main aim of this project is to develop e-health system using Android
application based on cloud based data storage. It offers with application used by
e-health application developer in the future. Following are list of the research
objectives such as:

1.3 Brief information about research work
The area which is selected for this particular research work is Information
Technology. Through this research work, the researchers get to gain technical
skills and knowledge by introducing e-health system using Android app. In this
paper, there is description of the completed overview of the android application
for the users. The application is defined properly with state of the real life
problems as well as solutions by means of app. The research investigation has
featured to use Smartphone for strengthening healthcare with data support to
search healthcare services. In order to collect data and information related to
selected research topic, secondary data research is performed where the data
are collected from peer review journal articles, news articles, books and other
sources. Using this research work, it added theoretical concepts of the e-health
application in practical study area by means of implementing the Android based
app using Java programming. The proposed Android based e-heath system is to
be developed into open source methodology. Mainly, the app is implemented
and designed with prototype of mobile based e-health system.
1.4 Contributions
The contribution of researcher is creating an Android application, setting up the
application layout, program in the Java language for the Android based
framework and run the application on Smartphone. The android based
application software is integrated with the health application software allow for
communication taking place and access to the healthcare database. As the
software development process model, waterfall model is better employed with
the application software. This method provides effective workflow to develop
android based e-health application software. The researcher is involved in
research work by building Android based application used to record and retrieve
medical history of patients in the cloud database system.
1.5 Structure of the thesisChapter 1: Introduction:
This chapter introduced android based mobile phone applications in the
healthcare, aim and objectives of proposed system. This section also added
contributions of the researcher and information about the research work related
to selected research topic.Chapter 2: Literature review:
This chapter reviewed on overview of the e-health app, its functions, and
importance of mobile healthcare system in the healthcare sector. The literature

study reviewed about the android based application in efficient way, record the
research results and perform analysis in selected research area.Chapter 3: Research methodology:
This chapter discussed on possible research methods used to process as well as
analyse information related to selected thesis topic. This section allowed the
reader to evaluate the validity as well as reliability of research study.Chapter 4: Experiments:
This chapter introduce data collection methods, experimental data and data
analysis techniques used to collect information related to chosen topic. Data
collections were performed to measure information on target variables and
enable the researcher for analysing the research objectives. The data analysis
involved of methods performed on data help to define facts and develop
explanations of the app.Chapter 5: Results:
This chapter provided user interface design of Android application for the
healthcare system using cloud based storage system.Chapter 6: Conclusion:
This chapter concluded on the findings obtained from the results chapter and
also discussed on limitations and future goals of the research work.
