PORTFOLIO_2: Reflective Writing
Once while working in the office, I was asked to make a presentation on a given topic. I made it
beforehand and transferred it to the pen drive and gave it to my office mate. Next, I found that
he lost the pen drive and it was one of my worst experiences I found that the same
presentation is missing on my desktop too. My team leader was asking for the presentation and
this was my life’s worst experience. I should have created a backup of it, it was somehow my
fault.
It was my carelessness that contributed to it. I did not pay heads towards it and did not analyze
the need of it. My behavior of not backing up the data made it worse to handle. My actions
were obviously negative because I did not understand the organizational behaviors and my
carelessness cost me.
I learned that there should be a dedication towards one thing and there can be chances of
various things so one should never rely upon just one source if I would have created a backup
the situation should have handled. I learned that if there is an issue there is a solution too, just
the matter of fact is we have to make smart decisions to solve the problem. Critical thing helps
one to take more effective decisions and helps them to overcome the issue.
I applied critical thinking to solve this problem. As I knew what I made so I asked my mentor to
do the presentation. I have few rough sketches and then the basic ideology which I applied. I
smartly explained everything using some diagrams which I made. Critical thinking helped me in
making the correct decisions and helped me in overcoming this situation.
I will be using critical thinking so that is doing happen in future. The negative impact was that it
showed my careless side and it was my fault that I trusted blindly someone and rely on it. I did
not care enough for backing up the data. The positive aspect was that it made me even more
confident and now on I will be evaluating every decision and critically thinking upon it. It made
me a better human and helped in making me more confident. Both negative and positive
impacts taught me different lessons. I now will be using critical thinking for better judgment and
making more effective decisions which will help me.
