INTRODUCTION
Communication and collaborative skills plays major role in organisation and its
functioning. The report will determine three lacking areas of manager in organisation through
reflective journals. Reflective journal is the writing where the person demonstrate its own
learning and experience form certain situation and scenario. The report will demonstrate the
development plan of individual which will assist the person in enhancing skills in 3 weeks.
ACTIVITY 1
Description
Being an HR manager in retail organisation, I m very good speaker and have appropriate
skills and knowledge of handling situations. I have been awarded managing effective activities of
employees in organisation. Apparently, if I look into present situation I analysed that I have stage
fear due to which I was unable to communicate with employees at their training and
development session.
Personal feelings
According to scenario I discovered that I am suffering from stage fear in which I feel lack
of communication when interacting with mass audience. It s not like I have not tried to overcome
my this weakness but I don't know what drags me behind and I still fear audience due to which
my career is at stake. Further, I feel that HR manager should have the ability of interacting with
mass audience therefore as per this scenario I am planning personal development plan.
Evaluation
As per the situation, In the training session I was responsible for taking induction session
of newly recruited 15 employees. The session was going great when I was giving introduction to
candidates but as the interaction started I was running out of words. Further, I noticed that I was
not out of words but I have fear of communicating with mass audience.
Analysis
With this fear I analysed that I am good at communication but only when it is one to one
otherwise I lack confidence due to which I spoiled the entire induction session. After this whole
scenario I discovered that it is my past which is dragging me like when I was in school my
friends used to bully me and at the time of presentation I used to stand backstage and this the
reason why my fear has become my major weakness and hampering my professional life.

hampering my professional life. Further, Concluded by identifying that I have good
communication skills but it is my experience of school which is not letting me come out of my
fear.

will focus on preparing my personal development plan in which I will make sure to make use of
every possible resource which can assist me in overcoming my fear of communicating with mass

Personal feelings
I discovered my fear of communication with mass audience but will this I identified that
as an HR, I failed to manage virtual team in my enterprise due to which employee conflicts are
increasing continuously. Further, I know what is the use between people and virtual team and I
even know how to resolve these issue but is my lack of confidence which is dragging me behind
in my career.
Evaluation
As per the situation, I evaluated that my lacking collaborative skills led to conflict
between employees. It was the situation where I was responsible for managing 6 members in
virtual team where I was unable to establishing coordination among them due to time and
language issue (Wilson, & Seymour, 2017). This led to huge loss of business as the team was
unable to meet target on time. In this I evaluated that regardless of my effective communication
skills I was unable to manage employees in virtual team.
Analysis
After this situation in organisation I was scolded by management and I isolated myself
and there I analysed that it is my lack of motivation due to which I was unable to manage team.
Further, I identified that during my learning day I have very less involvement with friends and
teachers as I was very studious and used to devote my most time to books. I discovered that it is
the major reason behind this situation in organisation.
Conclusion
Hence, at last I will conclude by analysing that it is my behaviour due to which I was
unable to manage virtual team and the situation turned into conflicts. It is not that I lack
collaborative skills but I was unable to determine the reason behind the problems and my
weakness (Bell and Smith, 2010).

Thus, now when I have analysed the point where I can improvise and manage virtual
team. Further, I have decided make personal development plan in which I will focus on
participating in group activities and will use of every resources which can assist me in enhancing
my communication and collaborative skills with virtual team.

Description
Being an HR manager in retail organisation, I am responsible for managing conflicts of
team by making them negotiate but as per the current scenario of business I discovered that I am
unable to make employee negotiate one common interest due to which the dispute turned into
aggression and one of them got injured.
Personal feelings
According to this scenario in my organisation I felt there was no point making them
agreeing one common interest one was completely and one was right. Therefore, as per situation
I asked employees to resolve conflict in favour of one and due to which situation became worse.
I was very depressed as I was unable to determine the right and wrong of the situation.
Evaluation
As per the scenario I evaluated that my communication skills are the reason that I was
unable to make employee negotiate with mutual understanding. With this situation I learned that
while negotiating the person has to offer win situation for both parties and I was offering win
lose due to which situation became worse. Moreover, I discovered that my involvement in the
studies is the reason due to which I was unable to make workers negotiate regardless of my
effective communication skills (Eunson, 2015).
Analysis
With the scenario, I analysed I was unable to make workers negotiate because I was
unable to determine the situation. It is my nature that I avoid being in conflicts and fights due to

which I believe in favouring the right person but I forgot that when working with organisation in
need to make employee negotiate in order to maintaining the stability of environment. Further, it
is not like that I do not the ways of communication in case of conflicts as per the scenario I was
unable to draw conclusion.
Conclusion
With activity 3 I summarized that due to my less involvement in group activities I lack
negotiating skills which is key driver of communication. I identified that it is important for HR
manager to understand the importance of negotiation as it helps in maintaining stability in
business environment by resolving employees conflicts on one common interest (Hurn, and
Tomalin, 2013).
Action Plan
Hence, with the situation in enterprise I analysed that as a Human resource manager it is
important for me to learn negotiation skills because it is the strategy which aids the management
in resolving conflicts of employees at initial level. Thus, I accordance to this I planned a personal
development plan in which I will focus on in enhancing my negotiation skills in order to manage
employee conflicts of firm.
