INTRODUCTION
Community engagement refers to working in groups or as a team so that goals can be
accomplished and purpose can be fulfilled. It is helpful in bringing change in environment and
behavioural changes (Kumar and Kumar, 2020). Rights and equalities in Newham is a charitable
trust which fights for right of people and solve issues related to insecurity, crime, lack of
recreational facilities, concern about discrimination etc. In report, community engagement
principles, benefits of stakeholder participation, relationship between stakeholder and strategies,
social media platforms for promotion of event is discussed. Some ways by which promotion can
be done is described and internal and external factors which affect working of community is
discussed issues and ways to overcome challenges.

In Newham, there are many issues which is faced by people and charitable organisations
should take necessary steps to solve those issues. It is the responsibility of community
engagement practitioner to identify challenges and try to solve it so that people can live their life
safely and without any stress. In East London, discrimination is done among male and female,
because people in this country are not modern and they are not giving opportunities to female (Di
Napoli, Dolce and Arcidiacono, 2019). It is important to fight for right of female and provide
them equal rights to live their life and get good job opportunities in future. So, for solving issue
related to gender discrimination and it should be solved so that all can stay safely and get equal
rights. Some principles of community engagement are:
Careful planning – Principle of community engagement is careful planning; it means
practitioner should make proper plans so that goals and objectives can be accomplished. It is
main element because when planning is done properly then it becomes easy to solve issue. In
Newham, discrimination is done between male and female, and community engagement
practitioner is responsible for making policies regarding no discrimination among women and
men. All should have equal rights and opportunities for living their life and there must be no
restriction.
Collaboration and divide work properly- Another principle of community engagement is to
complete work properly and distribute work to avoid confusion and plans can be implemented in
a better way (Johnston and Lane, 2018). All members of community should work as a team and

coordinate with each other so that there will be less chance of mistake. Leader of community
engagement should make plans for reducing gender discrimination and all must get equal rights
and opportunities.
Impact and action – Another principle is impact and action which means that practitioner should
analyse performance after implementing plans and make changes if required. Event is organised
related to gender discrimination and to make people understand that there should be no
discrimination among people on the basis of gender, race, religion. In Newham, it has been
noticed that females are not getting right to do job or male candidate is given preference.
Openness and learning- Openness and learning means practitioner should learn from their
mistakes and make better plans for solving this issue. It is important to remove gender
discrimination in UK and equal opportunities should be given to females. Practitioner should
learn from mistakes and identify issues so that people can live their life safely (Evans and et.al.,
2018).
Benefits of stakeholder’s participation
When an event is being organised then it is essential to involve stakeholder because they
play crucial role in success of event. In reducing gender discrimination among male and female,
community engagement is important as they make plans or strategies which is beneficial in
accomplishing goals and objectives. Stakeholder’s are having better knowledge and experience
about how to solve issue and what are the ways by which it can be solved. There are some
benefits of stakeholder’s participation such as, they help in taking effective decision which is
beneficial in growth and development of event. They can suggest better ideas for successful
event and determine mistakes (Begg, 2018). It is important to take necessary steps so that goals
can be achieved and discrimination can be removed.
Another benefit of stakeholder’s participation is they are having experience and they can
suggest better ideas for making plans so that females can get equal rights and opportunities. It
saves time and cost of community because they do not have to go anywhere for taking expert
advice. Meeting can be conducted to discuss all issues and stakeholders are having better ideas.
It is the responsibility of community engagement practitioner to take advice from stakeholder
and without their consent no decision is taken. There should be no discrimination on the basis of
gender and in an organisation all people should get equal rights and opportunities. Rights and

equalities charity in Newham is protecting people from such issues and organising campaign for
solving these issues (McHugh, Domegan and Duane, 2018).
Issues and how to overcome challenge
There are many issues which is faced by people and community has to find solution so that
better plans can be made. It is important to identify issues in society and try to face those issues.
This help in reducing problems and better decision can be taken which is beneficial for all. In
Newham, discrimination is done among male and female, in an organisation male candidates are
giving preference and they are selected for work. This should be removed because females are
also having right to take participate in recruitment process and to do job. To overcome this issue
community member should educate senior leadership, get women on boards. They should
promote equality by organising campaigns and educating people that there is no difference
among male and female. All are having equal right and opportunity to take participate in job
opportunities and managers should give them a chance to prove themselves (Heilman and Caleo,
2018).
Community practitioner should organise campaigns in which they should educate people
regarding removing discrimination and better plans can be made for maintaining equality in
environment. They should promote campaign by advertising and aware people about importance
of equality in country. Females are having knowledge and better ideas than males. They must be
given a chance to prove themselves and perform. To overcome gender discrimination,
community members should teach people to give respect to women and appoint female staff
because sometimes people understand things by seeing practical example. Some mentorship
programs is arranged by our community to fight for rights of females. It is important to organise
campaigns which must be creative and innovative so that people get attracted and motive behind
organising campaign must be fulfilled. It is essential to solve this issue so that better plans can be
made and it helps in accomplishing targets. For educating people, community engagement
practitioner should take necessary steps for reducing gender discrimination and provide rights to
females.
Social media platform
To promote campaign, social media platforms can be used by community members
because nowadays, people are more active on social networking sites. Advertisement should be
given on social sites such as, Instagram, Facebook, You tube, tiktok, Pinterest and other so that

people can get information about reducing discrimination. When advertisement is given on social
networking sites then people are more attracted because they want new and innovative
advertisement and understand things in a better way. For accomplishing targets it is important to
promote campaigns so that people can be aware and give chance to females. Social media is the
biggest platform for promotion of campaign and people understand things easily because it is a
tool where most of the people are active and better plans are made (Shearer and Mitchell, 2021).
For accomplishing targets it is essential to make people aware about gender discrimination.
Nowadays, females are having more knowledge than male, experience and better ideas to
work in an organisation. It is essential to promote campaign on social media platform so that
more people can get information about this. Gender discrimination should be reduced because all
people are having equal rights and responsibilities to live their life safely and happily. Social
media platform captures wide area and it is easy to aware people about gender discrimination. In
UK, this is the biggest issue because people in organisation females are not getting chance to
work and this is not correct. For fulfilling goals and objectives community engagement
practitioner should identify issues and try to find solution so that people of UK can live life
safely and females can get chance to prove themselves and get good job in future. It is important
to make strategies for identifying issues and solve it (Duffy and Chan, 2019). Plans should be
made after analysing situation properly and make improvements if required it must be done so
that plans can be implemented properly.
Relevant avenues to promote participation
There are some avenues to promote participation and to attract more people to take part in
event so that needs of people can be satisfied. It is important to focus on promotion of campaign
and make more people aware about this campaign and encourage them to participate in this.
When there are more people then it becomes easy to promote and better ideas can be generated
for promotion of campaign. There are some ways to promote participation such as, provide
resources to people, relevant information about campaign, take help from government so that
more people can be attracted. It is important to promote participate because when more people
join community that it has positive impact on society and they understand things in a better way.
Gender discrimination is one of the biggest issue which must be solved and females should get
right to do work in an organisation and get all other rights. Proper training should be given to all
members for fighting for rights of females and better plans can be made.

Internal and external factor
There are two type of factors i.e., internal and external factor. These factors affect
performance of company and may be goals are not achieved. Internal factors refer to elements
which are present within the organisation and it can be controlled. Community engagement
practitioner is responsible for identifying internal factors and take necessary steps so that goals
can be accomplished. It is important to determine internal factor so that plans can be made
accordingly. It is essential to identify these factors because they are present within the
organisation and it can be controlled (van de Grift, Cuppen and Spruit, 2020). SWOT analysis
should be done because it helps in identifying strength, weakness, opportunity and threat. This
helps in making better plans and targets can be achieved. Strength refers to positive points which
help in reducing gender discrimination and targets can be achieved.
Before implementing any plan community engagement practitioner should check that all
plans are properly implemented or not. Improvements should be made so that better plans can be
made in future and it is essential to take steps regarding gender discrimination. There are some
external factors which are present outside the organisation and these factors are not controllable.
It is important to determine these factors so that plans can be made accordingly. When all the
factors are determined then it becomes easy to make strategies and work can be done properly.
External factors include, social factors, economic, environmental and legal factor (Burger, 2017).
It is important to focus on how to remove gender discrimination and better plans should be made
which help in achieving targets and females can get equal rights and opportunities.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion it can be concluded that, community engagement helps in
accomplishing targets. There are some principles of community engagement such as, careful
planning, openness and learning, collaboration and divide work properly, impact and action has
been discussed. Benefit of stakeholder participation like, better knowledge, good decision are
taken, having more experience has been discussed. Further, issue like gender discrimination and

ways to overcome this issue has been described. Social media platforms which can be used such
as, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other platforms for promotion of campaigns has been
discussed. Further, internal and external factors which affect performance of company like, to
identify strength, weakness, opportunity and threat. External factor like, legal, social, economic
and environmental factor has been discussed.
