Comparing the main methodological difference between the two studies
In the first article, which includes the research on the topic of analysing the effect of
economic crisis on society. Scholar in order to gather the information about the effect of the
economic crisis on the society has used semi structure questionnaire and also utilised the
interview method for collecting the relevant facts or figures. The objectives of facilitating the
interview is to gather data or information about the way participants lived their lives during the
crisis, if and how they were affected by unfavourable economic conditions (Brody &
Pureswaran,2015). As the objective of investigation is to analyse the subjective experience of the
people belonging to the different age group qualitative research technique have been used by
investigator.
On the other hand in another article, the investigation is conducted on the subject mater
relate to the analysing the impact of emotion on person behaviours. In this article , observation
techniques has been used for gathering the information about the effect of an emotional feeling
on individual behaviour.
Summarising the main methodological and theoretical differences
In the first article on the topic of analysing the effect of economic crisis on society ,
scholar has selected the participants for executing the research on the basis of diversity in context
of class, employment status, gender , qualification , relationship status etc. Researcher in order
to ensure an equal distribution of gender has computed the average age of participants which
was 35.1. The interview was conducted at two biggest Greek cities., these locations has been
selected in order to secure diversity of place. In the present research , open ended questions were
included in questionnaire form. The several themes were designed by the researcher in order to

In the other article, the participants were selected using random sampling technique and
face to face interview has conducted for gathering information (Caniëls, Lenaerts & Gelderman,
2015). Scholar in order to gather information has used mainly two research approaches such as

holistic and categorical. By utilising these two investigation approaches has analysed the sub
sample. This technique have helped researcher in narrative qualities that were present in each of
the participants. In this article the data analyses has been conducted in following manner,

The similarities between research in both the article is that thematic analysis has been
used for presenting , recording and interpretation data. Another similarity is that ethical
considerations has been made by both the scholars. One of the major similarity is that in both

techniques
Both of the techniques used in the research are equally useful and helpful in context of
the gathering the relevant information. Qualitative as well as quantitative research techniques
when applied in appropriate manner will help in generating the desired outcome. It is required
by the researcher to select the research techniques by considering the nature of topic etc. As in
both the articles , research is on analysing the effect of particular factor on individual life,
qualitative will help investigator in gathering the suitable information (Daudt, van Mossel &
Scott,2013). It will also assist investigator in reaching to the conclusion and making suitable
decision.
Ascertaining the theories used in both articles
In first article , which includes the research on the topic of analysing the effect of
economic crisis on society., the contemporary approach which states that generations are usually
conceptualised on the basis of age-cohorts has been used. This research approach allows the
operationalisation of the concept. But limitation of this research philosophy is that it restricts the
inclusion of sociological questions which can be asked by the participants during the interview.
In this research deductive approach has been utilised by the scholar. The benefit of deductive
approach is that it has focus on deducting conclusions from suggestion. It begins with the
unexpected patterns.
In another article inductive theory has been used . This research theory has helped
scholar in developing as well as maintaining the concentration on sub-sample of 38

accounts of non-belonging (Foroudi, Foroudi & Duda,2017). It has assisted investigator in
identifying the suitable as well as justifiable reason for non-belonging, Qualitative techniques
with the inductive approach has helped scholar in explaining the fact that a rather communal
story arch represented non-belonging as becoming less important with age, partly due to
increased self-confidence. The benefit of utilising the inductive approach is that Begin with
detection or observation and seeks to find a structure within them.

The Epistemological theories when applied by the scholar during the investigation help in
finding the answer to the various questions which assist researcher in reaching to the appropriate
solution to the problem. This hypothesis provides the various principles which is based on the

to the suitable conclusion (Mackey & Gass,2015). It allows the scholars in ensuring the
reliability of information, facts which was collected during the investigation .
Ontological theory is concerned with the analysing the current situation. ontology and
epistemology helps scholar in creating a holistic view. In the second article analysing the impact
of emotions on individual behaviour Ontological theory has been applied by the researcher. It is
required by the scholar to develop the understanding about the philosophical assumptions. As
this strategy will assist researcher in improving the quality of investigation.]
