Connect Sphere Switch with Virtual Machines

This document provides a step-by-step procedure to connect a Sphere switch with virtual machines. It covers topics such as host network management, adding hosts to the distributed switch, configuring network adapters, moving VMkernal adapter to vSphere, including VM network to vSphere, and more. It also includes instructions for creating a new virtual machine and configuring alarms and notifications. The document concludes with steps to migrate a virtual machine to another host and configure VMWare high availability.

Connect the sphere switch with virtual machines by using configuring the independent virtual machine
or moving virtual machines groups from vSphere distributed switch. Connect the distributed port groups
to associated virtual network for connecting the distributed switches of the vsphere with virtual
machine.
Procedure
 Host network management in the distributed switch of the vSphere – manage the network
connectivity between the VMkernal services and virtual machines for the networking host
management in the distributed organization environment

 Include host to the distributed switch in the vSphere – add the switch with hosts for the
management of the vsphere in the distributed environment
 Configure the network adapters with the distributed switch in vSphere – assign the physical NIC
to the switches. The configurations can be done at the same time to multiple hosts
 Move the VMkernal adapter to vSphere – for handling the traffic for switches in the network
thew adapters move into the vSphere
 Include VM network to the vSphere – manage the network using the distributed switch it will be
included to the labeled adaptors
 Provide a maximum number old distributed post on every host – change the port on the switch
if the running time is earlier

 Provide login details and open the vSphere client in the host.
 Start a new virtual machine wizard for the creation of VM in windows.
 Install vcenter, Choose Windows_VM.
 For a local machine in optical media choose windows installation disk.
 Launch the virtual machine console and choose the console and choose the
power to be on.
 Finish the installation of the virtual machine in the windows.

 Move to the editing of the alarm process- modify the alarm process through the
vcenter server object
 Change the database usage process in alarm disk – the specified events such
as the states, events and the conditions that are triggered from the disk of the
database to activate the environment and verify the functionality
 Configure the alarm to the management of notification- set the server and
sender account for the management in the mail notification process
 Acknowledge using the data store – the storage utilization of the database will
be triggered and can be managed to reduce the usage of the data center
 Migrate the virtual machine to another host. Relocate for the configuration and
storage files.
 Moving to the new host for the virtual machines move the data from one data
center to another data center.
 Changing the virtual disk and the configuration of the data to a new data store.
It can also allow moving the virtual machine to the new location without any
issues and problems.
 Choose the VM to the inventory. Select the migration process, change the data
stores for the migration.
 Choose the format of the disk for management.

Step 1: Login to vCenter Server 6.
Then right-click on cluster name and choose “edit settings”.
Step 2: In the cluster settings, enable the vSphere DRS.
Step 3: Click the “vSphere DRS” option. It will define the automation level.
Based on our environment we can choose any one of the following.
Fully automated: In this option, the virtual machines are placed on the
minimum loaded ESXi servers automatically.
Manual automation level: This will give the relocation reference for the virtual
machines.
Partially automated: It will give suggestions for the relocation automatically.
Step 4: Then click the “DSR Groups Manager”.
Step 5: Then click the option rules.
Step 6: Next choose the virtual machine's options.
Step 7: Select the power management button to state the power management
for ESXi servers.
Step 8: Click the host options to define the specific host power administration.
Step 9: To check DRS functionality, we have moved all the Virtual Machines.
Theory
To configure the VMWare high availability following steps needed:
Step1: First login to the vCenter server6. And click the edit settings in the
cluster.
Step 2: Right click the features and turn on vSphere HA.
Step3: Then select the vSphere HA. Based on our environment we can choose
the one.
Step 4: Then fixed the virtual machine priority.
