INTRODUCTION The current assignment is based on evaluation and reflection on the process and learning made during the team solving assignment of business problem. The reflection is based on the experience and learning get during analysis of Hospitality industry of UK along with the impact lead by COVID-19 and sudden shut down on the performance of Hospitality industry of UK and its Neighbouring Country New Zealand. This assignment comprises of a discussion about the new skills and learning developed and enhanced by current project along with new findings and knowledge get during the course of project. Further, a discussion about improvement in confidence and use of this learning for future career is also made. At last, three skills gaps and areas of improvement are also evaluated along with a proposed action plan to fill these gaps through developing these skills. Task 1 Reflection on learning process and evaluation of skill development The current task is based on reflection about the learning and experience get by me during taking part in and having worked as a team for solving business problem. The experience of working in a team was quite knowledgeable and full of learning experience which leads to development of better understanding and learning in me about the hospitability industry and the impact seen on its performance due to sudden lock down and shutdown created by COVID-19. A better comparison and evaluation was made by me in the circumstance and changes lead by COVID-19 on economy of UK and its neighbouring country New Zealand. During course of current investigation many skill and capabilities are enhanced as a result of team working and gathering of information for study. The most vital and important skill that get improved during taking part in current team solving activity was my communication skill and being working in a team it is essential and vital to communicate and interact in an effective way to share relevant thoughts and have clear discussion on vital ideas and key information of project. For instance, during course of current team project, I need to discussion and planned out many activities like discussion in relevant sources for collection of data which requires effective communication and interaction with my team members, thus my communication and other interpersonal skills got improved with current project and team assignment (Effective Team- Working Skills, 2020). Apart from this, management of time and effective organisation of task 1
was also vital capabilities and skills that were learnt and developed by me during the course of current team assignment as it time management skills are learnt to ensure timely completion and effective understanding of work. On the other hand, my planning and organising skill are got improved and more developed while making coordination and ensuring proper balance with team activities and other members that is vital for achievement and completion of problem solving assignment.Further, problem solving and effectivedecision makingskillswere also got improved and developed during current team study as the assignment was based on evaluation and analysis of problem along with leading effective solution and ways to overcome that problem thus, vital decision making skill and problem solving attitude was required by me and my team members. During current team assignment many new learning and knowledge was get and learnt by me about which I was not having any clue or idea before this assignment. I got to develop a betterunderstandingandknowledgeabouttheHospitalityIndustryanditsimpacton development and performance of economy through generating more employment and giving boost to tourism and entertainment sector. Apart from this, the main learning and knowledge gathered by me during course of current investigation was based in the problem statement of assignment which comprises analysis of Impact of COVID-19 on performance of Hospitality industry along with the main challenge and loss of revenue faced by Hospitability industry due to sudden lock down. A better comparison of facts between the impact of COVID-19 on economy of UK and its neighbouring country New Zealand was also learnt and evaluated by me from current assignment and a better understanding about the fact that the GDP of UK is affected in most hazardous manner by the great Lockdown of 2020 as compared with global financial crisis of 2009 which has left a larger number of people unemployed and a large number of hospitability business and other organisation are facing a big threat of shut down. Finally a better learning and understanding about the people’s preference on going out to places like gyms, gardens, lodges and other public places was also made by me. Apart from this, the most vital learning and new information got by current team assignment comprises of analysis of effective ways like adopting work from home, small and varied short shifts and other anti anxiety measures and effective promotions and advertising to overcome this situation of global pandemic in an effective and more viable manner. 2
