INTRODUCTION
Consultancy is an area or a practice where people having in demand talent, experience,
communication skills, analytical abilities provide their expertise to a third party in exchange of a
fee, working either as a sole proprietor or as a part of a firm. Strategy, management, operations,
financial advisory, human resource and IT are some of the types of consultancies. This report
will mention the evaluation of learnings and skills developed during the project, demonstrate the
skill gaps and the way they can be addressed(Boles, and, et. al., 2019).
It will also include the demonstration of the employability that the learner will need while
applying for new jobs. The report will also reflect on the problem solving process and the skills
developed through that process.
MAIN BODY
TASK 1
I worked as a management project executive with one of the biggest firms and was
intrigued by the organisation's commitment to active integration of inclusion and diversity
policies in its workplace. It was a truly amazing experience with a lot of challenges as
opportunities to learn. I was able to get a deeper insight into the management department. While
working in the team and in the process of solving problems for clients I learned a set of skills
which will be helpful in getting future employment opportunities. I learned both the tangibles as
well as the intangibles. In tangibles all the technical aspects were enhanced and all the strong
work ethics, high work standards were enhanced in the intangibles. The biggest take away will
always be the long term relationships and friendships forged during the process as it is very
important to have confidants from the same industry to offer you advice, specially in this
competitive field but there were also some vital skills which were developed and some existing
skills were brushed through the working experience(Sanders, and, et. al., 2020).
The first intangible I learned was that it is only when you ask, then you will learn and
improve something. I learned to always be pro-active and look for good work opportunities as it
is the best way to gain experience and learn new skills by practice. Taking initiative also helps
you boost your confidence. There were a lot of opportunities which came in form of new projects
and presentations where I got to gain and boost my confidence. The first presentation I gave was

the biggest opportunity as it was then I got this new level of confidence which earlier I had
doubts about.
I got a new sense of professionalism and a clearer picture of what it is truly meant to be
in the professional space. A sense of discipline was developed slowly and gradually as I worked
with the firm day by day. The primary and most important skills I learned are :-
Time management : I was able to do my tasks within the given set of time but when it
came to group tasks I faced a lot of problems. I was not able to coordinate with the team
members and was not able to complete my assigned work on time. Due to this my group
members' work was also hindered and the overall performance of the team was
hampered. But then slowly I started to coordinate with all of the team and with my efforts
and their help I was able to complete and submit group tasks on time. I developed time
management skill in group assignments which will be beneficial in my future
employment(Choi, Jeong, and Kim, 2019).
Problem solving : This skill is not a very easy approach and a lack of problem solving
skill created hindrance in every task I did. This skill is very crucial and is needed in
developing the best solutions. So I talked to my team mates and my mentors to have
certain solutions. Step by step while solving tasks I thrived my problem solving
techniques to a great extent and was able to provide unique and best solutions to certain
problems of clients. With a lot of efforts this problem got eliminated.
Communication : I had good communication skills but the projects I did at the firm
required better communication both verbal and non-verbal. There were certain projects
which required me to communicate my ideas effectively to my team members and clients.
Those projects were my opportunities to enhance my skills and communicate effectively.
They worked as opportunities for me. It brought my level of communication to next level.
I was able to give effective solutions to my team by communicating effectively.
Team work : This is the core skill one requires in team projects. There is no such task
which can be done efficiently without working as a team. I was used to work alone as I
used to do solo tasks before this. While working in this organisation I got a lot of
opportunities to work on team projects and through those projects I got to brush up my
skills of team work. Team work leads to better problem solving and it further leads to
better outcomes(Eatchel, 2020).Working as a team in the organisation helped me in my

personal growth, increased my job satisfaction and reduced my stress to a large extent.
Developing this skill enabled me to share my ideas and responsibilities and kept the
environment enjoyable at work.
While working in the firm my confidence level was increased to a great extent as I was
able to analyse my strengths and weaknesses and also work upon them. I got to know the areas I
am proficient in. There was times when I was assigned challenging tasks which in turn boosted
my confidence when I completed them on time with efficiency. Timely feedbacks provided by
the mentors was also helpful in levelling up my confidence. The experience made me gain
knowledge and expertise in technical aspects and that was the major source of my increased
confidence(Burger, and, et. al., 2019).
These existing brushed up skills and newly developed skills will boost my career. The
flexibility I gained while working in the firm will help me to adapt the changes which will I face
in my future employment. With the skill set I have achieved, I will be able to demonstrate my
calibre to the potential organisations. They will help me in developing further relevant
capabilities and improve my career prospectus. I will be able to succeed in variety of settings and
it will also offer great benefits to the firms I will work with. All these skills I have learned will
overall be beneficial for my career and future employment.
