Introduction
Present report is going to be about Service User Involvement for Bangladeshi gypsies and
travellers that are dealing with mental health issues. Along with this, assignment will also show
benefits and challenges for Bangladeshi gypsies and travellers within Mid Staffordshire (a
hospital of NHS), England.
Background to Service User Involvement
Service user involvement can be defined as a process that can be used by which people
that took into consideration of service recently or have used a service become involved in the
development, planning and delivery of a particular service (McFadden and et. al., 2018). It is
important because, involvement of service users could help service providers in understanding
the planning process of what particular service is required to be given based on the requirements.
Through this, service quality can effectively be improvised considering Arnstein & consumerism
theory.
Gypsies and Travellers and Service User Involvement
In present context, the group that has been taken into consideration i.e. Bangladeshi
Gypsies and Travellers that are going through a range of mental health issues like dementia and
so on who has gone through discrimination within Mid Staffordshire Hospital. On the other side,
there are a range of policy and legislations like Equality Act, 2010, Health and Social Care Act,
2012 and Care Act, 2014 and some policies will also be enclosed that would help in reducing the
number of issues faced by Bangladeshi Gypsies and Travellers within Mid Staffordshire Hospital
(Aiken and et. al., 2018).
Benefits of Service User Involvement for Gypsies and Travellers
There are a range of benefits can be identified of Service User Involvement for
Bangladeshi gypsies and travellers (dealing with mental health related issues), while taking
treatment at Mid Staffordshire Hospital and these are quality of services will be improvised and
it will also enhance the appropriateness as well. Including this, greater protection against
mistreatment and promotion of respect for service users can also be considered as one of the
benefit in present context.

help them in taking right decisions in specified time frame.
