Scenario and Analysis
As an artist music one’s music is protected from illegal downloads or sharing by the
copyright Law. In Saud Arabia copyright Laws was issued as per Royal decree No. M/41
dated August 30th 2003. The Saudi copyright Law Protects all of the intellectual works of any
type and the music that one produces fall under this category. The authors rights are protected
until a period of 50 years after his or her death. In this case being an artist, my compositions
are legally protected by the copyright law and copyright infringement is one of the leading
challenges. There are several ways the copyright laws can be violated and are usually
violated within the county, this involves illegal downloads from the internet, sharing of the
music videos or the music content with others. This has significant effect to us the artist and
leads to the loss of value of an artist hard work. This is referred to as copyright infringement.
It is one of the leading problems in the music industry.
The law provides multiple remedies for violation of the copyright laws within the
country; the Copyright laws makes distribution and performance of copyrighted works
illegal. This has been one of the leading challenges in the music industry. One music is easily
duplicated to others making the accessibility of the content very easy. Also, the distribution
of this music content has been a major challenge for the copyright law violation. Different
measures have been taken to control this violation (Field, 2015).
The law has taken different measure to control copyright infringement in the county,
All the copyrightable work is protected once created but to show ownership for the artists,
some jurisdictions require the registration to grant protection as a proof of ownership. Saud
Arabia has been a member state of the Berne Convention for the protection of literary Artistic
works since the year 2004 March 11th. The law has put in place several measure to control this
which includes a warning, this is the first measure as per the law where one is warned against

this but when this continuous, the law has provisions for fines which do not exceed Saudi
Riyals 250,000. Also, the law advocates for the closer of infringing outlets (Price &
AlDebasi, 2017). This has been one of the most effective ways to fight copyright
infringement. And finally, the law has the provision for imprisonment as well as the
compensation for the owner and in our case the compensation of the artist. This
compensation is usually proportionate to the damage done.

copyright infringement. This is a particular violation that affects the music industry a lot but

of people who have been charged with copyright infringement and got charged by the law
with fines of up to$1.5 million. This shows the magnitude of the violations.
