Subject: How do leaders use corporate communications to execute strategy in the 21st century?
Corporate communication involves the approach used to effectively convey and reach out to
employees by motivating and building behaviors hence advancing strategy and improving the
results. It is achieved by overhauling the strategies of internal communications by convincing the
employees on the importance, authenticity, and relevance of the purpose and strategic goals of
the company.
Nowadays, companies should communicate strategically due to increasingly complex
organizations and also business settings in order to successfully execute strategy. For the purpose
of organization’s vision, goals and values interpretation, and company’s overall strategy
alignment aimed at strategic positioning, management strategy is a useful tool used by successful
corporate leaders in executing strategy through effective communication. Senior management
communication internally on the organization’s current strategy and status, promotes employees
being more engaged and connected to their work hence leading to high productivity and quality.
Through developing and building a strong culture of communication, in which managers and
leaders have the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally, especially
during change and decision making helps in ensuring high employees and customers satisfaction

Skillful communication helps a company in executing its daily operations, avoiding a crisis,
merger completion, and navigating regulatory blunders. Poor communication and corporate
miscommunication usually lead to problems in controls and execution of firm’s strategies. Since
communication is much more than just words, it needs to be measured since it has an impact on
organizational performance. Therefore it should be managed comprehensively in order to yield
the desired results. It is important for every leader to take communication seriously since it is
very crucial for career advancement and business success. For every person who under
leadership and management level should understand the components which promote good
communication practices since effective communication is a powerful tool for any organization
to execute its strategy successfully. Communication is useful in building an organization’s
culture by embracing well-communicated values hence preventing the organization from
potential future failure and losses. (Montgomery, 2015)
Since executive leaders usually have myriad roles to play, how they define and articulate the
organization’s basic purpose and also future direction is the most fundamental. For a leader
being able to communicate the firm’s vision is an indication of positive organizational
performance and moreover of future success. Communication with fellow employees both
vertically and horizontally is very crucial since it helps in disseminating and retrieving

information on the effective and timely manner, enhance task coordination and completion, for
the purpose of decision making, therefore helping in minimizing and solving conflicts in an
organization. This offers a basis of understanding human process virtually in an organization
such as decision making, cooperation, power and authority use, conflict, morale, resistance and
in creating and maintaining a relationship. Today, mastering of communication by any leader is a
requirement, since the performance and output of employees of an organization depend on it.

Therefore, it is important for a leader and/or managers to understand the best approach and
communication practice to use while executing the strategy since its success and organizational
performance rely on it.
