INTRODUCTION
The counselling skills are social as well as traits that a consultant used to improved
interpret and listen to their customer. The counsellor are used these skills which are helps a
patients overcomes obstacles that are preventing them from leading a happy life. These skills are
apply in different situations. The counselling is a conversation therapy that concern a trained
therapist perception to helping you find structure to dealing with the affectional issues. The
counselling is requires the therapist and patients to set aside time to explore the stressful and
difficult emotions that the latter is going through. The counselling is for currently, for everyone
who may be daunted by a abbreviated term and impermanent hard phase and for who are
handling with the a degenerative, long-standing challenges that is talking a value on them. The
concept and the counselling theory is based on the how patient's thinking can change feeling as
well as behaviours. This is mainly focused on the patient's present situation and distorted
thinking than on their past. This report is includes the counselling session between therapist and
the patient. This is also includes the reflection which are based on the Gibbs reflective model
(Bager-Elsborg & Herrmann, (2019, June)).

TRANSCRIPT
Client whose name is John has been experiencing low mood and symptoms of depression. He is
taking a counselling session for psychological therapy.
Therapist: Hi... John. Welcome.
John: Hi... How are you?
Therapist: Good. I have been looking forward to meeting you. Let me explain to you a little
bit about who I am and what I do. I am a Psychological Therapist counsellor for
the clinic. So, I understand that you referred because you have been impression
quite downcast in current days.
John: Yeah. I have been impression quite a while so I thought maybe it is time to realise
somebody about it because I want to feel like this more than.
Therapist: Okay, I saw that you have been going to the general practitioner from 3 months.
John: Yeah.

Therapist: how extended you have been thought down entirely.
John: quite a couple of time unit before that as well in reality but it is gotten pretty bad
these past few months so that it is kind of why I taking this counselling session.
Therapist: Okay. So, as it got bad since you saw gear.
John: Yeah.
Therapist: Okay. So, tell me what is going on with you?
John: I am a student as well as I am doing a job for my expenses. From past few months
I cannot manage my expense and I didn't pay my fees at time to time. So these are
increasing my stress. These are increasing my feeling of sadness, loss of interest
in formerly pleasure activities and variety of physical and emotional problems. I
just cannot really have daunted to do anything at all it gracious of find difficult to
get impelled for thing and I genuinely want to be improved but it is just kind of
movement the I want to do something.
Therapist: Okay. So, you said that you are feeling genuinely down, really sad as well as
awareness like you have not any motivation as well as impaired social, physical
and work functioning. You have not got any motivation but it sounds like you
have put quite a lot of pressure on yourself to try and feel a bit improved.
John: Yeah. It is hard for me because there is no one for me to talk about some it.
Therapist: Okay. So, tell me more about yourself.
John: Sometimes I feel fear and anxiety with my family and friends. I did not want to
talk to anybody and I mostly like to be alone. Sometimes I have consumed lots of
alcohol. I feel more mood swings, bad feeling, changes in behaviours and changes
in the physical health. I am losing my ability to feel pleasure in the thing in which
I enjoyed. A Past few months ago, I loved to chilling out with my friends and I
enjoyed late night parties. But now, I don't want to talk to anyone and I enjoy my
own company. Sometimes, this stress develops my suicidal tendencies.
Therapist: Okay. I have completely evaluated your depression. So, you should identify the
negative impression as well as behaviours and regenerate them with the healthy as
well as constructive ones. You need to search relationships as well as occurrence
and create positive involvement with other. There is need to identify the issuing
that impart to your depression as well as change activeness that make it bad. You

should also need to create the capability to support and accept distress using better
behaviours.
John: Yeah.
Therapist: You need to build a strong social network and reduce the isolation. You must
keep a day-to-day contact with friends as well as household. Volunteering is a
fantastic way to get cultural support and assist others while portion yourself. You
must take psychotherapy session on regular basis. These therapy sessions are help
you to realize why you feel a certain manner, what initiation are for the
depression as well as what you can do to stay healthy.

A reflection is given by the using the Gibbs reflective model and person can conduct their
self-reflection effectively. This is given by Graham Gibbs in 1988 to give the clear structures to
the learning from past experiences. It is dived in the six stages and these consider the description,
analysis, feeling, conclusion, evaluation as well as action plan. These are specially helpful for the
helping person learn from condition that they experience on a regular basis. To apply these
stages there must be require the various questions in order to go as deep as possible with your
reflection (Wang et. al., (2018)).
Description:
As a psychotherapist, I have taking a video counselling session of the psychotherapy of
the John. I am present at my clinic at time of video counselling session. John is a patient who is
suffering from the low mood as well as he is feeling depressed. He is choose select me as a
psychotherapist and scheduled a video counselling session with the him. I am use my
questioning skills to understand the John. He is a student and he is living alone. He was working
to earn money so that he can able to manage his expenses. From some past few months ago he
did not able to spend their expenses properly and did not pay their fees instalments at timely.

This may resulting in the feeling of the hopelessness and feel hesitation. This is alter the physical
well-being which are associated with the body aches and it is not sleep properly and decrease the
appetite. He is feel a relentless impression of sadness as well as loss of involvement. I am also
asking to the John to explain me more about their feeling. I use my observation skill and
observed that he is faces the trouble in thinking, concentrating, making decision and feel
restlessness. He is also feeling the sleep disturbance which are associated with the insomnia or
sometimes he sleep too much. I am also observed that he have recurrent thoughts of death,
suicidal thinking and suicidal attack or suicide. I used my listening skills and listen him vary
carefully. I also make some important points during counselling session which helps me for the
depth analyses of the John situation. I show may self awareness to know their body language,
gesture as well as facial expression those are affect the patient willingness to share their personal
information. I make eye contact with him and show that I am listening to him as well as he have
my undivided attention. My control my facial expression that can help me to create a warm,
friendly as well as supportive environment with John. I also observed that he feel that everything
is too hard in his life. He feel so low that things he antecedently relish no longer hold that same
emotion. He feels so much pressure to do anything is even bigger. He find it difficult and harder
to get out of bed in the morning. He is taking so much drugs in each and every day and find
trouble to go to bet at night. He feels inability to change his situation and lack of self-care. He
have deep anger at an unfairness or injustice in life and have lack of strength to take more than
what life has for him. I suggested him that he accept that the depression is part of his life foe
now. He should allow himself to take proper time to get better. You need to get help some place
be it your doctor, a professional or that individual that is ever there trying motive you out of this
(Keeling & Major, (2018)).
Feeling:
As a psychotherapist, I feel that I have more self knowledge or insight in the person about
his personal thoughts, conflicts, desires as well as the understanding the reason behind the
particular behaviours. Felt that I should develop the mature level of dependency which respect
that there is a balance of dependence that is requires but there is also independence is present. I
feel that I give my best during the counselling session. I feel that the John is feeling very sad and
hopelessness and loss of interest in activities. I also feel that he is faces lots of trouble in their life
and also have physical symptoms. John is also hunted by the sense of innocence or uselessness,

lack of anticipation and continual thinking of death and suicide. I feel that the condition is
become very serious if the proper treatment is not given to the John. I need to show empathy to
the John and it is very important to the development of the ability to discern another experiences
and then communicate that perception back to the individual to clarify what he was said. I need
to ask some more questions to get clarify or explore thoughts as well as feeling. I faces some
trouble in the interpretation in to conceive in the light if the John beliefs, judgement or
circumstances(Neophytou, (2021)).
Evaluation:
I have evaluated that John is require the psychotherapy session for live life. I used to talk
therapy to treat people for emotional problems and illness. It helps to John to get the better of
pain from their pasts and create coping plan of action for the future. This session is also assist
him to define their targets as well as elucidative who are and what they want out of life. I use
some counselling skills properly. I use my questioning skills properly and ask relevant question.
I ask both open ended and close ended questions to interrelate what he was said. I observed all of
the positive as well as negative about the counselling sessions. I identify the all problems, assess
the all information and assist John in choice making as well as validate strength or weaknesses of
John. I evaluated that the psychotherapy session is essential for John. I ask some question in
which he feel uncomfortable to answer. The observation skill is helps me to understand the state
of mind of John. I also make some notes which helps me to evaluate the condition properly. I
also evaluate that the therapeutic alliance, empathy, positive regard, genuineness and John
expectation for the outcomes of the therapy. I assess the screening, diagnosis, treatment
planning, goal identification as well as process of the evaluation.
Analysis:
I have analyse from the counselling session for my skills which are based on the video
counselling session. The main aim of this is to identify the impact of my counselling skills on
John. The evaluation of the counselling skills and modality used and suggestion for
improvement. I have capability to be enthusiastic, self-confident and present a impression in the
John's knowledge to change. It can be accommodating in exhortative the patient to movement
forward change. It would be come out that patients are more likely to accomplish their targets
when there is a healthy as well as confiding relationships that present in between the patient and
myself. I have a good listening skills and it assist me to feel through listening has a lot to do with

their body language. I make proper eye contact with patients and remove anything from the room
that may cause distraction from focusing in patient. I also make encouraging verbalization. I
show empathy that allows me to prepare a therapeutic alliances by apprehending the patient's
perspective as well as goals, understanding their specific personality style as well as predilection
and communicating with them in a proper manner. I use my interpretation skill for the verbal
communication by me of the hypothesis of an unconscious conflicts that seems to have

patience when I taking the counselling session. It is the most desirable skills for counselling

Conclusion:
From this session I have concluded that there are so many things which are need to
improve according to the situation. This includes the changes that enhance healthy behaviours
which are require to develop the the relationship, expressing emotions better as well as thinking
more positively. I have good in the listening, self-awareness and in communication. These skills
are help me in the video counselling session and help in the understand the patient problems. The
John is facing trouble in his life he is require to taking a psychotherapy session for his mental
health. He is feeling sadness, irritability, clinginess, worry, ache pain as well as he being
underweight. He is feel too much negative thoughts, worthless, anger, poor performance in their
job and in the education. He is also feel misunderstanding and extremely sensitive. He is started
taking the non professional drugs or alcohol, sleeping and eating too much, self injury and face
loss of involvement in the normal activities and turning away of social intention. John is
requires to take counselling session regular basis for there depression. I need to develop my
interpretation skill, patience, communication skill for the proper counselling session. There are
some more skills which plays an important role in the counselling. It includes questioning,
observation, empathy, respect for confidentiality, trustworthiness as well as self awareness.
Action plan:
I require to develop my all counselling skill and these skills are includes the questioning
skill, communication skill, increase confidence, empathy and maintain professionalism. These
skills can be develop by the mock counselling skill by the family as well as friends. In this the
patient is provide the counselling and record the session. This can help in revisit the recording to
understand areas of improvement. These is also need to use constructive criticism to sharpen my

skills. I can also hire an experienced counsellor as my mentor. I consult with them and learn
about counselling method. These can help me to understand patients trouble and efficiently
handle their trouble. I can also take part in the job shadowing and this help me to understand the
responsibilities, skills and duties of the counsellor. This is also assist in the understand these
professionals handle an emotional and how they can solve patient problems. I should also take
the online courses which help me to learn about more psychology, mental illness as well as
research method. I also need to work on my effective communication and this will help me spend
the majority of time taking to the patients. The communication make people feel relaxed,
thoughtful and open. The capability to sympathise with your patients will increase my each and
every counselling skills. This will help to my patients to feel amended comprehend to and
understand, devising them feel risk-free as well as comfortable (Fatchurahman, Setiawan &
Karyanti, (2021)).
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it has been concluded that the counsellor is plays an
important role which provide the emotional support to the patients and help to improve the
mental health. These have responsibility for the patient and have good counselling skills as well
as counsellor must be a good counsellor. These skills are used to develop rapport, establish trust
and ensure that patients feel heard as well as understood. This report is include a transcript and a
self reflection. The self-reflection is based on the Gibbs reflection model. This is consist the all
six stages which are present in the Gibbs model. The counselling skills are help in the
development of relationship and maintain them effectively.
