The objective of this assessment is to assess your skills as
would be required to read and interpret a residential
building project’s specifications and contract requirements
when relating to client variations and their compliance to
Australian Standards and the NCC.

Part 1: Practical Tasks
To complete this part of the assessment, you will be required to participate in a
practical activities and tasks. These practical activities and tasks can be submitted
either as a printed or digital portfolio of evidence.
Your responses will be used as part of the overall evidence requirements of the unit.
You should refer to the list of criteria in the Observation Checklist to understand what
you need to demonstrate in this section of the assessment. This Checklist outlines
the assessment criteria used to assess your performance.
Once completed you will need to submit this assessment and the tasks and activities
you are required to complete to your teacher for marking.
Task 1: Research dispute resolution process within
legislative requirements
Scenario:
You have gained employment with a relatively new building company RB Holdings,
who build a range of residential and commercial buildings. The company is
expanding rapidly on the back of the construction industries continued high activity
and growth. Your primary role is to work with Lisa Balenzo - the Administrations
Manager, to develop systems to support their onsite operations. She is currently
developing a Disputes Resolution Policy for the company and needs you to assist her
with this task.
Task 1
Lisa has asked you to research and provide a written report about the legislation and
other existing dispute resolution policies and procedures that guide the home
building industry. She has assigned you the following specific tasks:
a) Identify the legislation and its sections relevant to dealing with a building
dispute.
(Do not include references to kit homes)
It is included as a type of litigation which mainly consists of disputes with
the contractors as well as disputes which is considered very costly as well
as very stressful in nature. However, there are chances, which can be
selected over building contracts, and it might escalate quickly or else it
can cause delays in order to building a project of construction.

Legislations which are stated in order to make sure for the contract in
order to reduce the dispute. There are various type of legislations which
are included in it, engineering negligence which includes planning, errors
in building contract, negligent work by the contractors, different works
which is carried out by the contractor that is not specified under a
particular contract. In order to help in resolving disputes, customer can
claim a building as dispute and the main party will provide the
compensation. The client will be allotted to pay the building dispute
claims. These are the things which helps to undergo with the procedure.
