1INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION REPORT A reflective report is writing a piece that summarises a critical reflection on a particular experience. Through reflection, one gets the opportunity to learn through understanding own behaviour and response in a particular situation. The primary objective of this paper is to reflect on the experience of creating a group presentation on different types of learning and evaluate the role of an individual by performing self-introspection. Teamwork is very essential in order to carry out a particular task appropriately. Every individual in a team requires providing their best performance. The presentation that was created by us was on different types of learning in psychology. It was very challenging to work together as it was necessary to be on the same page for everyone. Since every individual is different, we divided the task accordingly. The idea of creating the presentation was done by one member while the execution was done by another. The process of my experience with teamwork began with goal setting. We decided the goal on the first day. It was indeed not very easy to determine the goal at one instant. We faced the issues of decision making from the first stage. While someone was willing to make the decision, some did not want to take the risk associated with it. It was then we realised the importance of leadership in teamwork. Although every member possessed some leadership qualities, we decided on making someone who would along with leading be a great motivator. The team leader was selected and moved to the second stage of the process. The second stage of the process was awareness. We needed to be aware of each one’s best qualities in order to produce the best result. The leader was also asked to ensure that team performance all the while was checked appropriately. The possible chances of disputes were to be carefully maintained such as miscommunication and clash of ideas. While communicating our ideas and plans, we certainly felt the need to be more careful as we have already learned that communication is a
2INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION REPORT vital part of teamwork and it may cause dispute if not done accordingly. Since I am an introvert, I certainly felt challenging to communicate my ideas, however from the very beginning I was widely encouraged by my team members. The third stage of the teamwork was to build trust among each other. Although our goal was one, however, our approaches are different which made us have conflicts often while choosing ideas. It was then the leader made us aware of trusting each member. After our work, we performed trust activities. Since we were carrying out our presentation on various learning theories, we even applied some of the theories. As behavioural theory states, we often perform the same behaviour by modelling someone else we began choosing one trait of each other that we like such as the habit of reading in spare time, doing relaxing exercise after the working hours and many more. Also, we found us experiencing conditioned learning. We encountered certain awareness when our phone rang thinking it was meant for the assignment and we immediately ran for it. I am a person who likes to be punctual; therefore; I complete my tasks on time. It was a challenge for me as well as others since I had to cope with their pace and they had to cope with mine. Finally, the problem was solved when we decided a time schedule of doing our task along with a grace time. This helped me keeping my mind in control and not becoming anxious. Lastly, the last process of teamwork was the application. We applied our theories, knowledge and skills in producing the presentation. An application was required in order to understand that our hard work was tangible and worth presenting in the class. Also, it helped us checking the tick box that we had constructed in the beginning. There were several points when my partners and I of the team decided to quit the presentation due to lack of ideas and corporation, however, we have overcome the challenges and made possible to reach our targeted goal within the time frame. We
3INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION REPORT realised the importance of incorporating with each other, diversity and good leadership along with ethical values. There were several things we learned through the process of teamwork. Everyone can work individually; however, it requires facing many more challenges in order to perform teamwork. Also, teamwork is a fun way of learning and learning even exceptional things as every team member is different in their own way. Every team member has something to contribute, and it is essential that while producing the end result, each member’s best qualities are utilised. Through this reflection, I certainly learned and aim to do better in my next teamwork.
