INTRODUCTION
Project management involves several steps or process that are used in order to proceed
the project so that desired outcome can be achieved in limited time-frame and budget. Project
manager is responsible for diving the task that need to be performed by specific individual so
that end goals can be achieved. This report contained detailed related to one of the real life
project named as High – speed1 (HS1) that is project related to legally the channel tunnel rail
link. The line carrier international passengers between Europe and United Kingdom which cost
around £5.8 billion to opened and build on 14 November 2007. Thus, the report contained all
crucial information related to the project and the way it can be managed so that best result can be
obtained.
1. Outline the scope of the project and its involvement
High – speed1 (HS1) is one of the biggest project that have wide scope as it was initially
began in 1989, in which initially the project was proposed in order to connect Channel Tunnels
to London. It is first high- speed railway that contribute in 230Kph domestic services and 300
Kph for international services. Thus in order to made interconnection between tunnels there are
several steps or procedures has been followed to complete the project in minimum time possible
for better outcome. For completion of project of HS1, Rail Link engineering was appointed that
is joint venture between Halcrow, Systra, Bechtal and Arup. Project directors, Ailie MacAdam
has make use of collaborative practices at unprecedented in construction industry. It has
continuously review the contract and procurement strategy for each type of work such
involvement has contribute in getting maximum outcome (High Speed 1: A new benchmark in
project management, 2020). The project is needed to be implemented in order to build better
interconnection between domestic and international trains so that long distance commuters can
reach central London in less than half years. Thereby it contribute in saving time, cost of
travelling of people that travel from one place to another for different purposes.
2. Main requirements of project
The main requirement of project is that through the implementation of above project Britian is
able to get first new successful railway line over a century. Combination of government and
private sources has contributed in benefiting people from having a safe railway travel from St
pancras International (High Speed 1, 2019). Project will lead in decreasing overall time takes for
journey to Brussels as less than 2 hour will be taken therefore it is crucial to complete the project

4. Risk Assessment
It is process in which that helps in identifying hazard, potential risk factors involved in
particular project that can lead to high threat or barrier in attaining end goals. It also helped in
understanding associated hazard and the way it can be minimised so that better outcome can be

6. Stakeholder Mapping
High speed (HS1) has been identified as one of the most highly important project within
UK where operation and maintaining high speed at UK's only high speed railway as well as
stations along the routes of St Pancras International, Stratford International. It routes between
London and Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam as well as domestic route from London to Kent.
Stakeholder mapping is process and strategic visual tool used to clarify and categorize which
enable business project to be expanded commercially on successful aspects dynamically. Use of
high speed route by both international and domestic traffic, has created varied technical
boundaries and interfaces where there are large focus on efficiency evolving scenarios.
Stakeholders such as regulators, customer’s operators and suppliers are widely crucial
stakeholder s within HS1, to make it widely successful project on longer run. The project
management is widely done by technical management services and advice for HS1, including
local authorities, network rail and operating companies where there are varied competencies of
innovation involved. Stakeholders such as contractors and suppliers of project have been
identified as widely crucial for HS1, on which business informative growth efficacy has been
profoundly grown. The stakeholders have been competently active to bring on wider strategic
functional standards to derive cultural growth and innovative scale connective strengths on
which commercial strengths have been competently advanced. There is keen competent
development demanded among shareholders profound scale functional growth within HS1, on
which keen potential targets have been growing informatively (Albats and et.al, 2020).
Stakeholders among investors have been analysed to be widely crucial for technical
capital growth an efficacy paradigm productively on longer time run scale, and enrichment of
varied new ideas formatively for new creative ideas. The profound stable growth among
consumers profound goodwill and revenue growth for successful project can be understood to be
widely crucial where best machines implementation with strategic innovation will enable
informative productive edged diversity to be enriched. HS1 as one of the main commercial
project at UK have been informatively heading towards staff capability development and

Subject: Regarding the project of High – speed1 (HS1)
Dear sir,
This is report to inform you regarding several progress that have been made in the project
from starting so that end goals can be achieved and better railway facilities can be given to
people to travel from one place to another for several purposes. The project of High – speed1
(HS1) has been completed and opened on 14 november 2007 therefore manager is taking all
crucial steps in order to measure the steps so that necessarily improvement can be made for more
better services to customers. So, the project status is completed and now progress in made in
order to enhance it more so that people can have better travelling in limited time. There are
several stages involved in project management such as project initiation, planning, execution,
monitoring and closure. Such as in planning stage project manager has take all crucial decision
regarding overall task that need to be completed, total number of resources with be required like
human and finance (Hargaden and et.al., 2019). It has also plan the procedures or key step which
need to be taken by specific individuals in order to complete the task like RLE was mainly
responsible for construction and designing of HS1. It was challenging for company to delivered
the project in limited budget and time as it is large scale despite of that fact it is able to complete
the project successful that helps in achieving the end objectives. Project directors has stated that
they are working with client not just to build a project rather than realise a business venture.
Furthermore, it has stated that in order to complete the project it has brought together people
belonging to different culture so that end objectives can be attained (Auth, JokischPavel and
Dürk, 2019). It has make best use of strength of the joint venture with an purpose to gain

examples: RLE in section 2 as role of construction manager is able to make 8- berth Eurostar,
near Stratford that resulted in completion of project three month early and significant budget.
The lesson learnt from the project was communication is important process as it helps in
effective exchanged of information and completion of task in best manner. Robots budget
contribute in assessment of risk on monthly basis that helps minimising associated risk thus
helped in achieving the project (Sońta-Drączkowska and Mrożewski, 2020). Thus, timely action
taken by manager has helped in eradicate risk thereby more efforts are put for normals project
process like early warning, constructibility and progress updated. So, it can be stated that RLE
approach has helped in enlightened procurement, effective communication and team building for
successful implementation of project.
10.Motivation towards project
Motivation is process of influencing several team members to make best use of their
respective capabilities, strength and skills in order to complete the task. Project manager has
make use of different motivation techniques to induce team member to work together rather than
individuals for achievement of common goals. Motivation has helped in inspiring people to adapt
changes or find new method to complete the task. Maslow need hierarchy can be used to
illustrate the way personal motivation has contribute in coordinate diverse team members
towards common goals. Such as:
Psychological needs: It is most basic needs and wants of individual that inspired people to give
its best so that organisation can delivered best services to customers. Project manager of High –
speed1 (HS1) has ensure that team member psychological needs are satisfied that is they have
better salary, wages and place to live (Zwikael, Chih and Meredith, 2018). Equal and
appropriate wages, salary to each team members has helped them in staying motivated to bear
risk and take steps to proceed the project so that people can have better travel facilities.
Safety and security: It is second stage of Maslow need hierarchy in which project manager
through ensuring safety and security of team member inspired them to give their best so that
fruitful outcome can be gained. Project manager of High – speed1 (HS1) has taken all crucial
steps in order to ensure that team member are safe and secured so that no harm can be caused to
them in any circumstance. Therefore, it can be stated safety and security needs like team member

Sense of belongingness: The third elements which motivates team member is sense of
belongingness as despite of the fact that each team member belong to different culture and
tradition. Manager has tried to coordinate diverse individual by providing them friendly
environment so that chance of conflict can be reduce to maximum level. Project manager of High
– speed1 (HS1) has encouraged team member to share their respective view, innovative ideas so
that better strategies can be used to implement the project in better manner. Thus, sense of
belongingness has helped in inspiring team member to be part of project and make optimum
utilisation of their respective capabilities (Creating a gateway to Europe, 2019).
Esteem needs: For effective implementation of the project High – speed1 (HS1), project
manager has ensure that esteem needs of team member are fulfilled so that they can give their
best for achievement of end goals. Manager has ensure that equal respect and recognition is
given to each team member for their respective effort or contribution in the project so that they
can be influenced to effectively contribute in success of project. Rewards and recognition of
efforts made by each team member towards High – speed1 (HS1) has helped in keeping several
individual stay motivated.
Self actualisation: It is highest level in maslow need hierarchy where each member realised its
importance, potential thus seeking personal growth and peak experienced. Project manager of
High – speed1 (HS1) by allocating different task or superior responsibilities to some of the
individuals of team is able to inspired them to make best use of their skills and capabilities.
Therefore, project manager through self-actualisation is able to contribute in making team
member stay motivated towards the project.
11. CONCLUSION
