Introduction
The planning of events takes a lot of responsibility that comes with planning the event ,
recruiting man power for the implementation of the plan, food and lodging arrangement and
management of crowd for protection against potential disasters of health risk. There are various
kinds of risks associated with different type of events. Crowd management is important to ensure
that the people attending the event would be managed effectively and safely. The overall
operation of the plan for the event is dependent on the management of large crowds (Franke
Lukowicz and Blanke 2015). An important part of crowd management is the adherence to
particular legislative norms regarding plan of action, management, building temporary structures,
safety precautions for performer or public figures making an appearance in the event, assessment
of risks and making sure that the man power employed are competent to hold the management.
Event management also requires management of the facilities of health and hygiene being
provided to the crowd who come to spectate the event. This paper will discuss the major events
managed like rugby game, conference, student union event, marathon, club in UK region.
Additionally, Trinity Talent, Paint festival and theatre fashion show in Qatar.
Rugby game crowd management
It is one of the most popular sporting events in the country of UK, and thousands of
people come to attend the event. Sometimes even from foreign countries if the event is
international. Therefore, it is very crucial that the risk prevention of the crown with respect to
identification, elimination as well as control of hazardous risks is very important.
In any kind of event management it is important to manage the site in which the event
will m occur. The assessment of the site is important to set up the components of the event and

map the infrastructure for the placement of the game as well as set up booth for the ticket
services. Staffs need to be recruited for the management of the crowd at all times. It is important
to determine the landmarks which will help in the process of orientation of the game. There
should be pathways that define the nodes of the events clearly and the area should be subdivided
into districts of functional sites of different components. It is important to understand the
capacity of the crowd in this case the capacity of the stadium. The movement of the crowd also
need to be assessed and pointed to a well distributed so that the spectators can be given space to
enjoy the experience (Eksteen 2014). It is important to allow the spectators to deliver the food
and drinks and set p booths and outlets to collects eatables as well, since the event will go about
for more than 3-4 hours. Several work stations need to be set up for security, waiting space,
disabled provision, reception, green room arrangement and storage units.
It is important to allow certain components to manage the crowd like rope or fencing
barriers, floor coverings, properly assorted entrance passage, and signage for the event. Certain
types of furniture can also be installed for the event. Public facilities also need to be incorporated
and clear distinction between entry and exit sites need to be decided. Crowd can be managed if
the nature of the crowd who will be attending the event can be properly determined. Crowds
have essentially four different attributes like, growth, equality, density and direction. Generally
people who come to sporting events are of the age of 14-40 years of age. Sporting fans are
generally known to be very emotional since they identify personally with the team they support
(Dunning and Sheard 2013). So, it is very important to maintain enforcements to control any
potential threat or catastrophe.

Lego land
Lego lands hosts many tourist as a part of the theme park chain jointly owned by the
Lego Group and Merlin Entertainments. These kind of theme parks offer many kinds of rides and
entertainment to the people visiting. Most of these amusement rides are adventurous and
adrenaline pumping in nature for which it is necessary to maintain strict vigilance of the crowd
as many children are involved. Assortments of well separated queues need to be maintained to
ensure there is no form of brawling and confusion (Solmaz Akbaş and Turgut 2015). The age
limit for each amusement ride need to be ensured and vigilance team need to be cautious of the
people they are letting in for the ride. A skilled group of technical staff need to be enforced so
that the electrical or mechanical difficulties are avoided while maintaining the rides. Theme
parks need to adhere to the safety precautions strictly to ensure that they are not potentially
putting people’s lives in danger. Food stations need to be well distributed and the quality of the
food need to be checked from time to time to avoid any gastro-enteric hazard. Public hygiene
stations need to be set up to ensure people are not put in discomfort.
The crowd coming here are mainly children and families visiting from all over the world.
It is very important to ensure that the area of the theme park is well capacitated to fit large
number of crowds. There have been reports where many theme parks have failed to maintain the
safety of the visitors in theme parks and that caused accidents. Strict vigilance need to be
maintained by security officials to ensure that property damage is avoided. Maintaining proper
queues for the ticket booths is very important and for making sure that the people are reaching
their destination properly. Help desks with managers need to stay alert in case of losing a person.
Management staff need to report in case of an emergency and security cameras need to be
watched to maintain crowd vigilance.
