Curriculum development of health education professionals1Curriculum development of health education professionalsLack of proper knowledge and skills in the healthcare workforce has disastrousimplications over the health and well-being of the millions of people. Scaling up the educationalprogrammes will help to deliver multidisciplinary healthcare service. This multidisciplinaryservice will address the healthcare need of the community in a comprehensive way (WorldHealth Organisation, 2018). The following assessment aims to draft an educational programunderlying the use personal protective equipments for infection control. The main targetpopulation of this educational program will include trainee healthcare workers. The assignmentwill mainly follow the ADDIE (Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluation) Model, afive-phase approach for building effective learning solution (Davis, 2013). AnalysisInstructional goalsHealthcare acquired infectious (HCAIs) or nosocomial infection is defined as spread ofinfection between the patients and the healthcare workers during the process of care in hospitalor other healthcare facility. The spread of HCAIs mainly spreads due to lack of proper infectioncontrol strategies undertaken by the healthcare workers and lack of proper knowledge about themedium of spread of infection and consequences of the spread of infection. This lack ofknowledge and skills is known as competency gap. Due to this competency gap there is a highrisk of spread of HCAIs (Iliyasu et al., 2016). Spread of HCAI cause increased rate of morbidity

It also delays theover process of care, increase in the length of hospital stay and increase in the overall cost ofcare. Moreover, when the infection affects the healthcare professionals, it increases the turnoverof the healthcare workforce and this further increases the overall cost of care (Iliyasu et al.,2016). Desired outcome of the successful completion of the course will help the healthcareworkers to earn and understand the principles of infection control and risk assessments in orderto guide proper infection prevention practices (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,2018). Target audience characteristicsThe main target audience for this curricula development include trainee healthcareworkers working for infectious disease prevention in the community healthcare settings. Theexisting knowledge of the trainee healthcare workers about the spread of infectious disease isextremely poor. The majority of the trainee healthcare workers fail to identify the importance ofthe infection prevention measures, risk factors associated with the patients and the mode ofdisease transmission via close contact (Alsahafi & Cheng, 2016). The trainee healthcare workersalso lack desired kills in effective use of the personal protective equipments (PPE) in the domainof infection control. The experience level of the healthcare trainee is 0 to 1 years. They arehowever proficient in English language and are motivated enough to work diligently for theproper infection control. According to McClung et al. (2017), healthcare workers perceivedpatient safety and clinical outcomes as the main motivators to reduce HCAIs. Proper leadershipengagement and data driven interventions with periodic feedback of performance can also beregarded as important facilitators of HCAIs prevention.

Curriculum development of health education professionals3Required resourcesThe PPE will be used as resources for the educational program to generate awarenessabout HCAIs among healthcare trainee workers. The content technologies that will be used todeliver the educational program include power-point presentation. This power-point presentationwill be delivered under small group workshop. Proper user guide will be used via postershowcasing the instructions manual of each and every HCAIs. Figure: Projecting poster planning as an user manual for PPESource: Created by author
