ABSTRACTThis research paper show that how cyber crime has increased in recent times. Cybercrimes is divided into two types. First is criminals steal computers to commit crimes and secondis malicious activity done with computers. Internet has become a source of increasing crimes.The major market of cyber crime is through internet. It has allowed criminals to hack companysystems to get confidential data. This data can be sold to other company or used for financialpurpose. Due to malicious activities it is not possible to identify from where crimes haveoccurred. There has been some research done on cyber crimes. The biggest concern is lack ofcritical systems in government, institutes and companies. It has lead to data loss, misuse ofsystems, etc. There are various methods by which cyber crimes are investigated. It helps inreducing them by taking proper measures. Also, applications, tools and methods used in thismust consists of effective security measures. The expansion of internet has created several issuesamong people. It has created a platform from where money can be generated.INTRODUCTION: Cyber issues are increasing day by day due to failure of security measures. Computercrime has been a serious issue since 1970. Cyber crimes is divided into two types. First iscriminals steal computers to commit crimes and second is malicious activity done withcomputers. Internet has become a source of increasing crimes. The major market of cyber crimeis through internet (Whitty, M., and et..al, 2015). It has allowed criminals to hack companysystems to get confidential data. This data can be sold to other company or used for financialpurpose. As many organizations are using advanced technology for protecting their data andinformation hacker are trying to hack them. The increase in rate of cyber crimes is a very seriousissue. It has allowed organisation to install strong security measures. Also, cyber frauds arehappening due to lack of awareness among people regarding use of social media. There are manylaws and rule developed by government of UK in order to stop these crimes (Kent, 2016). But ithas not been implemented properly. Also, the actions taken by companies are not enough toreduce rate of cyber crimes. These crimes can occur anytime and anywhere. Hacker generallyhack system which are having weak network security. The expansion of internet has createdseveral issues among people. It has created a platform from where money can be generated.Also, there has been adverse effect on countries relation due to cyber crimes. Cyber crime isknown for doing crime through misuse of computer or internet. The purpose of this study is to1
identify how cyber crimes are responded and what are threats and attacks of these crimes oncomputers (Abawajy, 2014 ).BACKGROUNDCyber crimes are serious issues in today's world. Business are facing real threats due tocyber crimes. Most of the crimes are done for financial advantage. It also happens with peoplewho do not have enough knowledge about security measures and are victims of these crimes.There has been social and mental affect of cyber crimes on people. Due to malicious activities itis not possible to identify from where crimes have occurred. There has been some research doneon cyber crimes. According to Gopal, and et..al 2004, the most pervasive form of cyber crime isdigital piracy. It means illegal copying of digital goods, software, documents, etc. withoutpermission of copyright holder. It is been estimated that in 2005 about 1.2 billion illegal copiesof copyrights were made. The international federation of phonographic industry IFPI in a reportestimates that across $4.5 billion loss was their in music industry due to piracy. As said byHiggins et al., 2006 most of software piracy is done by college students. Also, there has beenincrease in rate from 2003 to 2005. Moreover, two third students believe that it is okay todownload software illegally. Daniele, Maugeri, and Nagurney, 2017, said that cyber fraudmeans stealing of personal information like name, address, credit card number, etc. without yourpermission. In other words it includes fraud that involves financial or private information. Thefederal trade commission FTC 2006 there are various forms of cyber theft. The biggest concern is lack of critical systems in government, institutes and companies. Ithas lead to data loss, misuse of systems, etc. It is said by Yung, Debar, and Granboulan, 2017,that internet has created various cyber crime communities. They are group of people whose mainpurpose is to do cyber crimes. It involves experience people who understand computer and seekto destroy it. On the other hand Lee, Bagheri, and Jin, 2016, said that these communities existbecause of companies. They have created and developed them in order to gain competitiveadvantage. This is the result why cyber crime has increased in very rapidly. However, measureshave been taken by companies to secure their systems. According to Wells, and et..al 2014,social impact by cyber crime has created awareness in people. It has allowed them to use internetin secure way.
