Career goal My career goal is to become an expertise technician in aviation in aerospace industry so that I can explore my skills in designing, operation and maintenance of space or aircraft. Impact of technological developments on career goal Aviation in aerospace have witnessed several technological developments. Though this industry is technology based from the beginning but there are several changes which influences the career goal achievement in this direction. Most of the maintenance and repair professionals are communicating with sensors using tablets. These sensors are also capable to track the supply chain. Thus, for moving ahead in this segment I will require understanding the detailed concepts of internet of things (IoT). Predictive analytics is also another technical advancements which helps aviation professionals to expect the possible outcomes so that they can decide the most appropriate decision or action in given situation. For example with the IOT professionals are capable to analyse that which parts of plane needs replacement and which needs repairing instead of replacing part after every fix duration of time. The technical perspective and services are regularly changing in aviation. Thus, to keep myself updated I must also follow the advanced and innovative technologies which emerges in the market (Sampson Jr, James & St, 2012). For instance the Google glass, smart phone modifications are not only for the entertainment purpose. Instead, their technology is also applicable in aircraft. The use of augmented reality such as smart phone modifications or Google glass aviation professionals can get professionals trainings and technical knowledge without need of professional training spots. The manufacturing technologies are also changing rapidly (6 technologies that will revolutionise the aviation and airport industry in 2017, 2017). For instance use of structural health monitoring sensor provides information related to metal structure and composite material. Thus, for long term success I must update my knowledge and skills related to such advanced systems. There has been ongoing research on self healing materials which can completely transform the designing and operational aspect of aircraft. The regular knowledge of design and operational technology will help me to easily cope up with the changes I will observe in my profession after goal achievement.
Educational plan For becoming an aerospace technologist I will have to work with engineers and design scientists. As I want to become avionic technician, my primary work will be related to electronic equipments which are used in planes. I will be responsible for testing and installation of instruments of plane and for interpreting data which is communicated by aircraft. For achieving my goals I must gain deep knowledge of mechanical as well as electrical systems. The strong concepts of science, maths and mechanics will help me to enhance my problem solving skills during job. The extra classes of computer science, maths, aviation and technical writing will help me with my bachelor program of aerospace technology. Along with the technical expertise it is also a necessary requirement that I must understand the technical terminologies and detailed orientation of my subject. Manual dexterity is also one of the vital element of essential skills (Grimshaw, Rhoades & Williams, 2004). The aerospace projects are usually time consuming and needs dedication and efforts. Thus, I must prepare myself for working long hours as per the situational demands. From the perspective of future growth I plan to achieve expertise in instrumentation, control system and navigational guidance. As I have broad focus on maintenance and designing aspect computer aided design software is also necessary. I can apply for certified course in this area as well. Forachievingthesegoalsfinancialconsiderationsandselectionofappropriate institution is critical challenge. Though at present I do not have enough savings or funds to achieve these goals but I am preparing for seeking scholarships. I believe that I have sharpened my knowledge and it will help me to gain scholarship for the program as well. Like all other area's management and quality improvement principles are also required and used within aircraft. For example the lean technique will help to manage available resources effectively and with minimum waste. Thus, I will also pay attention to such strategies along with the technical concepts. When my technical knowledge will be accompanied with lean and other related concepts then my efficiency and accuracy will enhance. It also helps me to determine the alternatives which can allow me to use more innovative practices.
