Dairy Queen which is abbreviated as DQ is a branch of the Hathaway Inc and a chain
of fast-food restaurants and ice cream. The DQ has been in existence since 1940 and giving
its customers tasty food and craving treats. Over the years DQ has established itself in the
fast-food restaurant businesses by opening branches in both existing and new markets.
Majorly DQ’s success is linked to their exemplary performance in franchising, a big number
of stores that serve DQ menu are franchised, and DQ only owns a few numbers of stores.
Franchising is the major strength that DQ uses to wade off competition from other fast-food
restaurants. Despite the huge developments that DQ has gone through over the years so as to
adapt to the ever-changing conditions required by the market, the tenets of offering quality
products and services to their clients and ensuring customer satisfaction has been the main
guiding factor in DQ’s business model. With this goal at the heart of their operations, DQ
ensures it provides quality products and services to its customers as well as having an
operational organization structure that oversees all of its operation as a fast – food company.
This paper clearly documents the products and services offered by Dairy Queen and the
organizational structure that ensures efficiency in their operations.
Some of the products that DQ sells to its customers include renowned desserts from
dairy products, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, and numerous beverages. In terms of food,
DQ provides bunk lunch, combos, salads and sides, chicken strip basket and kids meals. For
instance, bunk lunch provided by DQ is made up of sandwich and chicken. Combos, on the
other hand, are made up of grilled burgers. Treats are composed of signature creations,
Blizzard treats, Candy classics, and royal. Commercial drinks at DQ are made up of fruit

customers can combine selections from the already defined products. Due to ever changing
customer demands and preferences DQ has innovatively been designing their products and
services in ways that will enable them to satisfy their customers adequately. For instance,
with regards to chicken, DQ has adequately invested in price and size differentiation so as to
be able to reach to a huge number of clientele (Hurst, 2006). Three piece, 4 piece, and full
basket chicken strips are some of the differentiated products that DQ provides its customers
with. In terms of grilled burgers, DQ offers bacon cheese burger, flame thrower grill burger,
and cheese grill burger, all these differentiation in their foods is to be able to satisfy their
customers’ preferences fully. Turkey BLT, chicken bacon ranch, and Kansas City BBQ that
is pork pulled are some of sandwiches offered at DQ. In addition to this, crispy and grilled
chicken sandwiches are the recent addition on the sandwich menu at DQ.
Apart from the food highlighted in the paragraph above, DQ also provides its
customers with snacks that will accompany their meals, buffalo chicken, chicken bacon BBQ
and pretzel sticks are some of the snacks sold at DQ. Further, salads are good meal
compliments and DQ offers chicken BLT and side salad for their customers. As a special
niche, DQ has created a meal choice for kids too. Since majority of their customers come to
eat at their fast-food stores during family treats, DQ decided to incorporate a meal menu that
will cater for kids too. Some of the products that DQ has under the kids’ meal include, 1
choice form entrée which is composed of hamburger, hot dog and chicken strip, 1 choice
from the side dishes, which is made up of kids fries, bananas and apple sauce, and one choice
