Question 1
Suicidal attempt is whereby people try to die through suicide but it fails (Sheraz & Johar,
2019). It is really awful to hear that someone tried to take away his or her life. People try to
commit suicide because of depression, illnesses or other factors that are not making their life
worth living. They therefore see suicide as the only option in their life. There are ways in which
one can care for a person who has tried committing suicide. One of these ways is always being
there and listening to them (Akansha & Nagle, 2016). Most people commit suicide because they
feel they are neglected by friends and family members due to their health conditions. Talking to
them can rebuild their trust and know that people are never against them. Moreover, it is
advisable to remove any possible means from a person who tried suicide (Schlebusch &
Govender, 2015). These includes things like drugs, alcohol and ropes. These are one of the
common methods used by people to commit suicide.
According to Robert (2014), one can care for a person who tried suicide by engaging
them in social activities. These includes playing games, going for a leisure walk or engaging
them in storytelling. People who try taking away their lives are depressed and one way of
preventing depression is engaging in social activities. Also, through interacting with other
people, one will get to know that he or she is not the only one having life problems and therefore
will get encouraged. Moreover, he or she will get to learn ways of tackling life challenges
whenever they come their way.
Lastly, one can care for a person who tried suicide by writing a safety plan or
downloading a reminder app for them. Safety plan or reminder app contains every step one

should take to keep themselves safe when they feel suicidal (Aparajita & Susmita, 2018). They
also contain solutions to some of the possible challenges people face in daily life which can
make them decide committing suicide.
Question 2
Suicide is the tenth leading causes of deaths in the United States. According to Shin &
Nor (2015), Surgeon General David Satcher suggested some of the ways of preventing suicide
which includes talking to the victims, engaging them in social activities and many more.
However, David argued that, although suicide can be prevented, there are some of the things one
should pay more attention to ensure safety of the patient. One of the areas given a priority in
ensuring safety to the patient is taking away suicide means from the victim (Akansha & Updesh,
2015). These may include drugs, alcohol or any other thing which can cause death to a person.
Moreover, one should always stay and listen to the victims to ensure quality care (Sighn
& Neha, 2017). People mostly commit suicide because they feel they are being neglected by
friends and family members. People living with sexually transmitted diseases are the ones who
face negligence by their family members and friends. Staying by their sides will make them more
encouraged and stop thinking about their problems. It will also help them in solving their
problems which are making them to commit suicide.
Writing a safety plan or downloading a reminder app can help one in recovering from
suicidal attempt (Nicholas & Robin, 2011). They contain steps one should take whenever he or
she has a suicidal attempt. They are the best preferred methods which helps one in recovering
from suicidal attempts because they contain solutions to some of the problems which makes one
should take to keep themselves safe when they feel suicidal (Aparajita & Susmita, 2018). They

to commit suicide. It will be hard for a person with safety plan and reminder app to commit
suicide.
Question 3
In order to ensure people who had suicidal attempt are free from suicide means, they
should be kept in a room where there is nothing which can cause harm to them (Mahmoud,
2012). In case there is no person to check on them while in those rooms, they should be taken to
the hospitals. It will be hard for them to commit suicide since there are nurses to look for them.
Also, it will be hard for them to cause harm to others since they are kept in a separate room with
a person to guide and counsel them.
People should always stay with people who have tried committing suicide to minimize
chances of repeating it. In this case, health experts should educate people on the importance of
staying close to these people. For the people who face negligence due to chronic diseases, health
experts should educate people on how they should take care of them. Moreover, they should tell
them on the medication and kind of nutrition to give these people. They should tell them that
some of these chronic diseases are curable and if they pay attention the diseases will heal. People
tend to neglect them because they feel these diseases are incurable and staying by those people is
wastage of time. Also, people living with sexually transmitted diseases face negligence from
their family members because they think the person is evil and is a burden to them. Health
experts should tell them that not all people who have sexually transmitted diseases got them
through sex. They should know that they can be transmitted through sharing a sharp object.
According to Moshe (2011), most cases of suicidal attempts are due to negligence from friends
and family members.

NURSING 5
In order to develop a safety plan or a reminder app to the person who tried committing
suicide, one should engage him or her into a conversation (Halder & Mahato, 2016). In this case,
one should know the challenges which are making them think of taking away their life. They
should therefore assist them in coming up with solutions. Coming up with solution will include
possible steps one should take to care of themselves to ensure they are safe from committing
suicide. For example, if one is facing depression because of having sexually transmitted diseases,
telling them to explain to the people what happened to get that illness will help from being
misjudged. Explaining to the people that you got the illness through sharing sharp object will
stop them from misjudging and take care of you.
Question 4
It is a wish of everyone to see a success in everything he or she does. In order to ensure
the strategies for safety, care and recovery of the patient are effective, one should put them into
test. To ensure that the patient stays in hospital where he or she is free from suicidal means, one
should encourage them to visit hospitals where they can receive good counselling. Also, telling
them that it’s only in hospitals where they can get the best solutions to what they are going
through will encourage them to pay a visit. For example, a person who had a suicidal attempt due
to chronic diseases can be advised to go to hospitals to receive medication. Upon reaching
hospital, he or she will be taken in room of people with suicidal attempts. They will be guided on
what to do to prevent those diseases. Moreover, in order to achieve keeping a person in a closed
room at home where there are no drugs and alcohol, one should tell them its importance. One
should tell them that they are being kept there to prevent them from hurting themselves. They
should be told this with a lot of sympathy and show how you value them. In this case, they will
cooperate staying in the room and listen to your advices.

In order to ensure family members get enough education on how they should care for
people who had suicidal attempt, one should ensure he or she has visited every home with a
suicidal attempt victim. They should also engage in campaigns against suicides. Through those
campaigns, people will get to know some of the things which makes one to commit suicide. For
example, a suicidal attempt can be due to negligence from family members. Visiting all homes
and taking part in campaigns against suicidal attempts will help people understand the effects of
neglecting their people.
Finally, to ensure that a suicide victim has a safety plan, one should involve an experts to
help in coming up with a quality plan (Halder & Mahato, 2016). Not all people are good at
guidance and counselling and therefore people might end up giving solutions which can worsen
the situation. Also, some are not familiar with those cases and may not give the best advices to
the patient. For example, if a person had a suicidal attempt due to chronic diseases, it’s advisable
to engage a counsellor who has dealt with the similar case before. Due to exposure and
experience he or she will be able to give the best solutions to the problems. Also, he would come
up with the steps one should follow in future to ensure they are safe from suicidal attempt.
