INTRODUCTION
Professional principle can be defined as a standard of personal conduct of a professional
in a business dealing, it typically focuses on the ethics, appropriate personal interactions, code
conduct and workplace integrity. Professional values are considered as values which are
demonstrated through professional relationships and practices (Turner, 2018). The connection
between principles and values should be considered by an individual in its career. In this report
Bedford hospital is taken an organisation which is a 400 bed district general hospital located in
the town of Bedford UK. Present report discusses about the role of reflection within the health
and social care practice which includes the purpose of reflection and models and tools used for
reflection. This report also discusses about the practice themes and also discuses the link
between practice theme and performance indicators. Report also includes the methods used to
gain the evidence of reflective practice and also includes the portfolio of evidence using practice
themes as a framework. This report also produces the target for developing a professional career
pathway.

Supervision is one of the reflective practice that review reflection in health and social
care for a reflection process, one is need to identify the strengths and weakness. This can be done
by supervising efficiently and comparing with expert one.
D1 how own reflections can impact on personal and professional development
Reflection is done to identify the weaker areas and it has been analysed that weaker areas
are barrier in development. So, it is essential to overcome those and directs career in right way.
By reflection, an individual can go thorough a training process which makes development in
their personal skills and then results in professional development by implementing them in their
work process.

Performance indicators is the mechanism to measure the quality of health care services
in order to facilitate quality improvement and systems in the health and social care sector.
Performance indicators is used to analyse, monitor and optimising of all health care processes in
order to improve individuals service delivery. There is a strong link between the practice themes
and performance indicators, practice themes can help in improving the performance of an
individual in the Bedford hospital. If an individual is confident an individual can treat a patient in
better way and can also reduce the patient waiting time and an individual can provide proper
treatment to patient as it can have confidence on its knowledge which is gained by an individual
during training period which can result in effective treatment method. Confidence is directly
linked with the performance indicators like safety of patient is depends up on the staff members
of the hospital (Clauss, Hoppe, Steidle and Michel, 2018). Some times individual have to face
the cases which are very critical at that it is the confidence level of an individual which can save
the life of a patient. If an individual is confident it can result in high level of patient satisfaction
and patient can easily trust that individual.
Locus of control is another theme which is linked with the performance indicators of an
individual, an individual with high locus of control could result in the positive outcome of an
individual treatment. When an individual with high locus can result in fewer errors which can
improve the service of an individual and can result in high level of patient satisfaction and
personal satisfaction as well (Yousman, 2019). Having control on the actions and knowledge
gained by an individual can improve the performance of an individual in the hospital. Also,
individuals with strong locus of control can serve multiple patients at the same time with low
error committing factor which can reduce patient waiting time and patient can feel secure in
getting treated by a particular individual. This can result in the ultimate goal of an individual for
its performance indicators which is high level of patient satisfaction and security.
So, there is a strong link between practice themes and performance indicators which can
help an individual in providing quality service to patients from the knowledge and skills gained
by an individual with high level of confidence and locus of control.

M2 a plan for reflecting on own learning and development
A plan for reflection that leads to learning and developing skills. Gibb's learning theory is
one of the most reflection practice which makes an individual to learn and develop their skills.
First plan is to identify the weaker areas and then lead to plan strategies to overcome those
weaker areas and then implementing on work process.
D2 effectiveness of the plan in supporting the development of own reflective practice skills
Effectiveness of implemented plan can be checked through the outcomes of work. If
objectives are achieved within time schedule then reflective plan is effective. It is helpful in
developing skills.

P 5 Methods used to gain evidence of effective reflective practice
There two methods which are used in order to gain the evidence for effective reflective
practice in ones own area, one method is Gibbs reflective cycle and Kolb's reflective cycle.
With the help of Gibb's model there are various evidences gained like as per the Gibbs
model individual has also used five stage while reflecting the own experience like an individual
have given the proper description of the experience like what happened during two days of
training and who were involved in the training process. An individual has also expressed its
feelings related to the training, like how did individual felt during training sessions and after
training sessions attended by an individual. While reflecting on own practice individual has
given a proper evaluation of its experience of 2 days training and in its evaluation it has included
what went well and what went bad during training program. At the end individual has framed a
conclusion in which it has discussed about how 2 day training has been positive experience and
what an individual would if faced by the same situation and what are the skills which could be
developed by an individual in the future(Dholakia, Jung and Chowdhry, 2018).
Another method which is used by an individual in order to gain the evidence for
reflective practice in its own area is Kolb's reflective cycle. An individual's reflective practice
also includes the four stages which are mentioned in Kolb's reflective cycle. In the first stage
individual has discussed about its concrete experience where an individual was provided the
tasks which had to be completed by an individual. In the second stage has mentioned entire
experience where lot of question were asked and individual has written a report what has
happened during the training process which includes major and minor events that took place

during the training process. Individual has also discussed about what has happened and has
provided the proper interpretation of the various events which took place in 2 day training
sessions. Individual has also made reflection and made comparison between what an it has done
and what it already knew (Howell, Devendorf and Ryokai, 2018). Individual has made a proper
plan how it is going to put whatever it has learned into practice within the Bedford hospital
which is one of the important factor of the training program which is to learning into practice.
So, these are the two methods which has helped an individual to gain evidence as
individuals reflective practice includes the points which are help in formation of a perfect
individual reflection and it also included the factors which are important for framing a reflective
practice.

Portfolio of evidence may be defined a collection of documents which must compile to
show the competence against a set of learning outcome and evidence is required to be presented.
Portfolio is the way of collecting the evidence in systematic manner with a support from a

One of the practice themes is confidence. It makes me learn about the attitude and
behaviours that is needed in health and social care practices. Confident behaviour makes me
developed and helped for achieving business objectives on time.
Another theme is of locus of control. In this I analyse that my skills for controlling and
monitoring becomes qualitatively and I can control my team very easily for giving qualitative
performance.
D3 own holistic professional learning and development
Social, mind, emotional, spiritual growth, physical development is carried in holistic
approach of learning and development. These small care are taken for caring health of small

children. I only don't focusing on learning but also to implement the learned methods in work
process.
P 7 Reviewing the evidence gathered
According to the views of Dijkstra, (2018 ) confidence is one of the major factor which
contribute to own personal and professional development, a person with high level of confidence
has much more balanced personal and professional life. A confident person is willing take
challenges in its personal and professional career. Person with high level of confidence does not
hesitate in taking the challenges which is can help in development of professional and personal
development. Being confident can help a person in overcoming the various challenges and can
increase person's capability of dealing with multiple tasks and this can help a person in its
personal and professional development. Whatever a person has learned should have the
confidence to implement the knowledge in the practical life and this is one of the major factor
which can contribute towards the personal and professional development. But a person with over
confidence can result in problems for a person which restrict the growth of person in its personal
and professional development.
As illustrated by Bennett-Levy and Finlay-Jones, (2018) locus of control can also
contribute towards the personal and professional development of a person, a person with high
locus of control always believes in positive outcomes which is factor which can contribute
towards the personal and professional development. Having a locus of control can help in
cooping up with the stress and can face the challenges in a more effective manner which can help
a person in developing its personal life and professional career.

There are various targets which can be set in order to develop a professional career path
are mentioned:
 Looking for the company which is willing to support the professional development, as
some health and social care companies provide the opportunities for the professional
development which can help in professional career.
 Finding of a mentor within the hospital sector which will provide training and knowledge
that will help in developing a professional career.
 Attending of various health and social care work shops which will provide the chances
for updating the skills and enhancing knowledge.

 Taking of various online courses which can help in developing of professional career by
looking at the courses online which are relevant to professional career.
M4 own personal learning and development in terms of its contribution to own journey towards a
future career pathway
For future care development, I learn from expert trainers to have confident in my
behaviour and attitude. And also to make controlling process efficient. This makes a right path
for future development. For making career, qualitative learning is important.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the above report reflection plays an important role in health and
social care practice as individual can come to know about its strengths and weaknesses. There
are various tools and models which can be used for health and social care practice. It can also be
concluded that there is a strong link between practice themes and performance indicators and
there are two methods which are used to gain the evidence of reflective practice. Present report
also concluded that there are various targets set in order to develop a professional career
pathway.
