This presentation discusses the process of design thinking and its application in solving the parking problem in CQU University. It explores the identification of the problem, tools and techniques to develop ideas, stages in the design thinking process, challenges in implementation, and the necessary steps to address the issue. Design Thinking
 The process of design thinking is not at
all involved with the occupation of a
designer. It is the process that is
acknowledged by greatest innovators in
in every field of art and science
(Chasanidou, Gasparini & Lee, 2015). It
is even practiced in business
organisations as well.

Identification of the Problem
 CQU University in Melbourne does not have
a car parking system and this has been
creating a huge problem to the employees,
the staff and the students. It is also been
found that without a car parking system it
is impossible for people to commute as
most of the population in Melbourne
depend upon driving their own car to the
destination (Armitage, Cordova & Siegel,
2017).

 Previous structure and architecture of
the University
 Not enough resources for the
Automation of car parking system
 No infrastructure for car parking within
the university premises

Complexity and Overlapping
 Some phases in the implementation of
design thinking for solving the car
parking system problem in the
university can appear as a complex
problem (Beckman & Whalen, 2018).
 It can also we found that the design
thinking process may have an element
of overlapping spaces.

What needs to be done?
 Without thinking about all the
incompetency of the university in
having an automated car parking
system, it is important to think about
involving these constraints within the
University focusing on the bigger picture
of serving the people associated with
the university and even the visitors.
