Background
In context of this report, it is based on Tim Hortons Inc. which is known as a fast food
restaurant chain having a specialisation in doughnuts and coffee products. It can be consider as
one of the largest quick service restaurant in Canada. It was founded by Tim Horton and Ron
Joyce in the years around 1964, almost 55 years ago. It serves its product in various nations
including Canada, Bahrain, Ireland, Oman, Saudi Arabia and many more. The vision of this
company is to be quality in leader in everything they do. They have a mission to deliver superior
quality of services to communities and guests, leadership, innovation & partnership.
Business strategy of given organisation is to make itself a major player in coffee market
in Canada and grab market share with the help of establishing 3500 stores. They applied a
technique of tie up with Wendy's starting joint in order to make effective entry in market of
United states. However, they adopt another strategy to expand their business by signed a contract
with another firm named Cold Stone Creamery through which they can sell products of other
organisations by their outlets.
Organisational culture of given organisation is based on the concept of 'Always Fresh'
that consist focus on several factors like Hockey, Male, Home, Canadian, Multiculturalism. It
includes the concept of following Canadian patriotism, multiculturalism and make guests felling
homely while visiting at their stores.
Need Analysis
Explanation of need to offer a wellness program
Wellness programs in an organisation is essential to maintain health of employees. It help
the staff members to improve their overall health conditions. Wellness programs include number
of activities such as weight loss competitions, physical exercises, managing stress, smoking
cease programs and so on. However, being a restaurant, it is important for Tim Hortons Inc to
develop some wellness programs for their staff members for overall growth and development of
organisation (Von Solms and Von Solms, 2016). It should be a part of benefit package offer by
company. Wellness program in organisations provide incentives, tools, support as well as
strategies which can be adapted for maintain healthy behaviours of employees. Need for offering
such programs are discussed below:

Enhance health behaviour: The core objective of wellness program is to improve health
behaviour of individuals. Respective organisation should implement wellness program to
maintain the health behaviours of their work force. Healthy behaviour of employees will lead to
a healthy organisation.
Reduce health risks: Wellness programs help individuals to stay healthy and manage
their stress levels (Stark, 2018). In organisations like Tim Hortons Inc. such programs must be
implemented in order to make their staff healthy so that they could perform better an effectively.
Improve Productivity: Wellness programs focus on improving health behaviours of
employees. However, respective organisation should conduct and offer wellness program for
making their employees fit which eventually leads to improve their productivity.
What gap has been identified including three categories of organizational, task and person?
While provide training about maintaining safety and improving health in an organisation,
there could be number of hurdles or gaps. It is important that workforce of the organisation
should be physically fit and should not struggle with any kind of illness or health related
challenges.
Gaps in the organisation for developing wellness programs in organisation are discussed
below:
Focus gap: Number of organisations have employees who are at risk factors regarding to
their health and safety. Organisation gets failed many a time about what kind of wellness
program must be conducted for employees. Respective organisation should analyse and focus on
the need of health and safety of employees in order to fill such gaps.
Lack of resources: It is the major gaps in many organisations that could occur during
wellness program. It is necessary for respective organisation to make sure tat they have proper
availability of health and safety equipments and complete resources for developing training
(Gray, Galvan and Donlin, 2017).
Lack of professionals: For conducting a wellness program in order to council employees
and give them correct advice regarding managing stress and improve health behaviours,
professionals are required. Tim Hortons Inc. being a fast food company should hire high skilled
professionals that could teach their work force for implementing safety and to mange health
conditions.
