Explain business operations that can be linked to diversity.

Business operations are defined as the activities in which a firm engage on daily basis in order to
maximize the value of the business and earn profit. The key operating activities of company involves
manufacturing, marketing, advertising and sales activities. Some of the business operations that can be linked to
diversity are as follows:
Recruitment and selection: it is the process of hiring and selecting best suitable candidate within the
organisation who is able to accomplish its objectives. At the time of recruiting employees, organisation
emphasize on gender diversity and hiring both men and women in equal number in the organisation.
They also emphasize on hiring employees with right education, experience and skill sets.
Production: this is the key operation of company which is associated development of product and
services. By emphasizing on diverse talents, organisation is able to blend array of skills as well as
creativity in goal oriented team. For this, company emphasize on bringing diverse talent within the
workplace who belong with different cultures, backgrounds, education levels, etc.
Service provision: at the time of providing services to customers, the service providers must be familiar
with different type of languages and cultures as this helps them in providing effective services to
customers and resolving their issues. Here, linguistic diversity in the organisation plays crucial role. If
the employees have knowledge about different languages, then they are able to deal with different
customers in an effective way.
Marketing: If an organisation have diverse workforce, then it helps in developing effective sales
strategies and identifying the appropriate client base in order to extend market reach. Bilingual staff help
the organisation in reaching out to customers appropriately.

1. Increased creativity Cultural diversity helps in increasing creativity in the organisation and it has
more diverse solutions to a particular issue. If many diverse minds work
together, then it will help in developing more solutions as each individual has
its own way to think, resolving issues and taking decisions.
2. Increase profits Maximized cultural diversity in the company can lead to higher profits. Hiring
employees with diverse backgrounds, cultures, religion etc. will help in
performing the operations more effectively and ultimately enhance the
organizational profits.
3. Reduce employee
turnover Diverse workplace has wider pool of talent who highly contribute in its
success. When the employees with different cultures and backgrounds
workplace together, then the learn more from each other which helps in their
growth and development. This improve the motivation level of employees and
they stay more in the company, which reduces its turnover.
4. Cutting edge
competitiveness Diverse pool of employees helps the company in performing its operations
effectively and brings creativity and innovation which ultimately provide it
with a competitive edge in the market and enhance its ability to beat the
competition.
5. Stronger company
culture Uniting diverse people with distinct backgrounds, education levels, cultures
etc. pool their strengths in culture of company. Individuals value the trust and
confidence that company put into each employee. This helps in developing an
effective culture within workplace.
