INTRODUCTION
The aim of this unit is to provide the opportunity to appreciate that developing knowledge and
skills to achieve high performance is a cross- organization activity. It will help to recognize that
their own professional development is just one route to improving the performance of those
teams and organizations in which they work. They will also gain an awareness of the context in
which learning takes place and how development needs are linked to learning interventions
aimed at supporting an organization’s strategy. Hightown Housing works so that every
individual has a roof over their head. Other than this they support their needs and look after their
range of activities across Herts, Bucks and Berks. This report contains issues such as Determine
appropriate and professional knowledge, skills and behaviors that are required by HR
professionals. Personal skills audit to identify appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviors and
develop a professional development plan for a given job role. Difference between individual and
organizational learning, training and development. the need for continuous learning and
professional development to drive sustainable business performance. Understanding of how
HPW contributes to employee engagement and competitive advantage within a specific
organizational situation. Different approaches to performance management (Nightingale, 2018).

Speaking Ability-
The key skill of HR is considered as the ability of their speaking in front of a large
audience. This skill is considered as one of the most effective skill of HR. It is necessary that HR
makes the speech in a confident manner and it is necessary they try to avoid all the ums, ers and
likes as it annoys the audience and take the centre of focus away from the HR. It is learned with
time many of the HRs of Hightown Housing has gained the perfection in this by gaining more
experience. It is time that helps to develop and boost the personal and professional abilities in the
market in their career (Gao and Bernard, 2018).
Reading people-

This is also considered as key skill for HR. With the experience they have gained in their
line of working they have been able to improve their ability to improve and read the minds of
people. HR of Hightown Housing has the ability to sense that if someone is lying or not about
their profile and experience. Other than this they have the ability to understand their body
language from which they are able to determine the attitude of the individual. With proper
training any individual working in the HR can learn these aspects such as observing things and
learning the expressions that helps them to assess the characteristics of an individual and deal
with them on that basis.
Backbone-
Many of the HR has been seen taking a step down and that makes them weak it is
because they are intimidated by the manager that controls other aspects. Backbone is generated
from the strength on the basis of convictions that an individual has and on the knowledge that is
obtained by him. It is believed by Hightown Housing that more knowledge possessed by HR
more confident they have over them which helps them to prepare for counter with the managers.
Weakness is also determined by age many of the HRs get weak with their age (Dumitru and
Schoop, 2016).
Empathy-
Empathy is considered as one of their skills which is soft and necessary to be a
professional in HR. If they are not able to understand the point of view of a person or employee
to understand the nuance of the situation then they will get stolen of the opportunity which
involves taking decisions appropriately at an appropriate time (De Brún, O’Donovan and
McAuliffe, 2019).
