Developing Qualities as a Learner: A Reflective Essay

REFLECTIVE ESSAY
I have developed many qualities during this module. But the most important quality. I
have developed is courage. A courage to go to the teacher and ask the things that are not clear to
me. The foremost important thing for the leaner is to gather the courage and ask their teachers
about that doubt generated by the students.
Learning is the regular process and one should not stop learning. The moment we start
learning is the time we become more invincible. We learn everything but not the way of learning
everything. There are three characteristics of the learner is having study habits, grittiness and
developing growth mind set. Curiosity is the another trait of a learner. I was very curious to
know certain things and that made me learn more about certain things. With the hard work and
efforts I have gained much knowledge about the module. A good learner should know how to
interpret and understand certain concepts.
A person with the social and personal quality can more easily understand and solve the
problem associated with the module. Self discipline is must for learning new things. During the
studying I have also developed a self-discipline in me. By making a schedule and following it
regularly will help in the development of the self development. For doing this one should keep
themselves motivated for the short term goals as the pressure for achieving the long term goal is
high. Self awareness that what kind of things will take time and at what weak point you have to
work. For this revision is required on the daily basis. Once the person knows about his areas
where he requires improvements he should start working on that aspects.
This module has taught me to manage my work on time. As before this I was not
listening to things clearly. After developing excellent listening skills things become easier and I
have started taking interest in the concepts. This has also helped me in increasing my focus. For
doing anything the focus is must. Because it will shift our concentration from all the distraction
and will lead in becoming a focused person. Focus leads to the determination of completing the
task.
A learner is always who learn the things and afterwards will connect whatever he has
learned in the class with the outside world. I tried to connect things as well and has developed
skills of connecting the things to the reality. That has helped me in other modules too. Team
management is the most important skill I have learned during this module. That can be used in

other fields of life as well. For learning things quickly it is important to develop some traits of
the good listener. As it has created a sense of confidence in my personality. After the
development of the team management skills it has become easier to handle and coordinate with
other for the work.
The change is not same for all the students as some will adjust with change in the
environment but some will find it difficulties in fighting stress and worries. The challenges that a
student will going to face in the future that may be related to learning new strategies and
redesigning courses.
The important part about the challenges is that it can be overcome by the students. Life
never comes with the easy task to be performed. It has always ups and downs. And one should
not loose hopes and scared from all the challenges that it has to face. The best way to handle the
problems is to prepare a plan. If it is uncertain that which kind of challenges you are going to
face than prepare according to the experiences (Bogaerts, and et.al.,2022). Always keep in mind
that you are not the only one e who is facing this type of challenges in life. There are many
people who are going through a lot. Start thinking positive that you can do it and you will
achieve success in whatever you are doing. One should never give up thinking that it is very
difficult and you can not do it. Start feeling your feelings, never try to ignore what you are
feeling, ignoring your feeling will only help in avoiding your problems. A person should perform
its work smartly rather doing hard work. Every people should learn from their mistake and do
research to see how other individual have done that thing. And then find out a way which is
easier in approaching.
The expectations of the university from the students is that they should learn things
independently learner from the day they have enrol themselves as a student. It is expected that
they are self disciplined and are self-motivated. It is the tendency of the every student to not to
attend every class. Thus, the lecturers expect them to attend all the lectures that has been
organized for them. The university represent all the students so it is expected from them to score
high as per the expectations. It is expected from the students that they have learned time
management and will use this in the industry (Rohwer, 2021). Organize time and task according
to the task assign to them. To maintain the decorum of the university and create a good study
environment. They are well aware about the notes taking habit. And they know how to read and

understand basic things. Every university has its certain rules and regulations. They should abide
every rule and regulations. The discipline of the college should be maintained, and they should
not do such things which are prohibited in the university.
For meeting the expectations of the university course, the lecturer will require to address
the students appropriately. If they are using phone while teaching will create a negative image of
the lecturer. The best way of keeping a check on the student is to provide them with the feedback
policy. The feedback provided by the students will help the university in meeting its
expectations.
