INTRODUCTION
Diabetes has been one of the chronic disease whose vulnerability can be reduced to great
extent by appropriate management and treatment strategies. In addition to the genetic factors
unhealthy life style and environmental factors are primary causes for type 2 diabetes among
adults. The untreated hyperglycemia or diabetes can result in life threatening situations. The
purpose of this project is to enhance the awareness among people regarding management
practices of diabetes so that it can be treated effectively. The adults are highly vulnerable to this
chronic disease due to lack of awareness about its causes and treatment strategies. The adoption
of healthy life style practices can eliminate the severe complications of diabetes to a great extent.
However there is need that attractive and influential resources must be chosen by health
professionals such as nurses and general practitioners to education public regarding public health
issues.
Thus the purpose of this project is to education people about this health issue so that
along with the treatment treatment strategies people can also understand the severity of this
public health issue and role of health care professionals and life style changes in treatment. For
this project poster is chosen as the resource so that wide range of audience can be informed about
health issue. The project is structured in several chapters. The first part describes the rationale for
choosing poster as the resource for this project. The poster or resource will describe the key
elements of project such as symptoms, causes and treatment strategies for diabetes which can
create awareness among people. The report will also consist of action plan describing the actions
intended for completing the project.
RATIONALE
Resource selection is very crucial for achieving the purpose of this project. A poster is
selected as the resource as its servers various advantages in education particularly in nursing and
health care. According to () as compare to the leaflets or booklets, posters are effective in
developing a quick visual impression on the targeted audience through attractive graphics,
colours and quality summary. As compare to brochures, posters are larger and thus they provide
more compelling message to audience through provocative design. Another benefit of using
posters in nursing profession is that posters allow continuous exposure and thus wider and more
influential impact is created by them. There are other resources as well such as web resources

and booklets which can inform communities about diabetes management. However they are
more costly than posters.
() stated that for nurses and health professionals the posters can also serve as the means of
promoting treatment strategies and interactive option. For instance the relevant images and brief
description of the life style management techniques can influence audience to gain the
knowledge or to obtain information about health care service providers. The service providers
are also able to use some quick response code (QR code) or coupons so that individuals who
seeks some kind of advise or discussion can contact the health professionals for valuable
information. The colours, logos and design of poster in alignment with the health safety or the
health care services can develop a more emotional and influential appeal.
In this project the target audience for the poster is adults in the age group of 20-45 years
who are more vulnerable to diabetes due to their unhealthy life style and nurses in transient phase
which needs knowledge. Another benefit associated with the posters is that they are highly
versatile and huge number of designs a re possible. The pictorial messages used in the poster can
be highly beneficial for gaining the attention of audience. Within health care services posters are
considered as valuable and effective means for knowledge sharing. With the impactful colour
schemes the posters are highly flexible in terms of shape and size. Thus they can be used for the
variety of purposes and on different locations as well.
Another critical benefit of using poster resources in health care is that nurses and service
providers can easily distribute or place these resources. In terms of distribution and placements
also posters are highly flexible. The use of posters for completing the assessment of public health
issues fits well for nursing academia, clinical ladder program and for rising public awareness.
The posters are also known to be cost effective as they can be employed in multiple settings such
as in public events, clinical meetings and other health awareness programs. Due to vast range of
benefits in knowledge sharing and rising awareness posters are considered as effective medium
for the interaction. In order to make posters more interactive suitable design techniques, logos,
colours and graphics must be chosen by the health professionals.

CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the project that public health issues such as diabetes must be
addressed by creating awareness among communities. For this purpose the health service
providers must use influential resources which can create positive impact on people. It has been
analysed from the above sections that posters must be designed with suitable choice of colour,
design and informative pictures. It will be helpful for the people to be aware about the
implications of chronic diseases such as diabetes and its treatment strategy.
It is recommended that apart from providing health care services to the patients nurses
and professionals must also use strategies to create awareness among people so that risk factors
for the disease can be reduced. There is wide range of informative resources available which can
be chosen by service providers for the purpose. However the chosen resource must be effectively
implemented considering various aspects of the disease. It is suggested that while designing such
posters or other resources individuals must emphasis on making them attractive as well as
informative. The resource must be designed in a way such that it is able to organise information
systematically which can convey the message to audience. The pictures and graphics which are
used in the project must be selected as per the understanding of the target audience. They must
not be highly complex.
