Different theories of life span developmentThis report will give a comparison ofdifferent life theories of an individual'sdevelopment and the relation ofpsychological theories to humandevelopment stages.Stage theories vs. open ended theories:The first one that is stage theories saysthat every human goes through similardevelopment levels. The issue ofcontinuity and discontinuityfocuses on the changes ofpeople are dramatic orgradual. Continuous theorytells that these changeshappen gradually and bysmall steps. For instance,children gain weight inschools with year after yearand not suddenly. On theother hand discontinuitytheory tells that thesechanges occur more like astair step series just like ateenage boy suddenly growsup to 6 inches and startsgrowing beards.Besides this, thevarious theories are beentaken into the considerationby the various theories thathelps the individual to gainbetter productivity andsustainability in the societybyimprovingitspsychological well-being.The different types of thetheories that have been takeninto consideration arePsychodynamic and thecognitive approach of lifespan development.Jean Piaget's CognitiveDevelopment theory:According to Piaget's, a childunderwent various sort of thepsychological changes thatleads to the betterdevelopment of the child. Hefocuses on the mentalstructure of the children andfocuses on the various sort oflearning processes that leadsto the better development ofthe children all over his lifespan.
