Discuss the need for wind power generation and attitudes towind power generation in north Wales.Energy is one of the most important resources required for carrying tasks and survivingin the world. Because of high cost and environmental problems involved innonrenewable resources of energy, many countries have been taking initiatives forshifting towards renewable energy resources. This is highly critical for ensuringsustainability in environment and reserving energy for future generations. Therenewable energy resources do not consume the finite natural resources available onearth and they can be replenished again and again. There have been several resourcesof renewable energy sources such as solar energy and wind power. This essay hasfocused on analyzing the need for wind power generation in North Wales. Moreover, attitudes of people towards wind power generation have also been analyzed critically. Wind power that is often referred to as wind energy is the form of energy that isextracted from wind through turbines for producing electrical power (Tong, 2010). Thewind power is produced when high speed wind turns blades of the rotor that is furtherconnected with the shaft that spins turbines for generation of electricity. The windturbines are usually mounted on the tower for capturing wind energy. The high of windturbines is usually 100 feet above ground level. The main reason of having this muchheight is to capture less turbulent and faster wind. The wind power can be used fordomestic purposes or they can further be connected with the major electrical grid forenhancing electricity distribution. However, the distribution of wind across large scaledistribution lines for large population is quite difficult process (Hauand Renouard,2013).For promoting use of sustainable energy resources such as wind power, it is importantto understand what people think and perceive regarding this form of energy within NorthWales. A survey has been conducted to know perceptions of people regarding windpower. There have been 20 males and 12 females in the survey sample that revealsthat results of survey will depict perceptions of both gender groups.

Respondents were asked about their age group. It was found that a large percentage ofrespondents i.e. 90% were above 36 years of age. Only 6% respondents were between25-29 years of age. The rest of respondents were between 18-24 years of age. Thisimplies that the perception regarding wind power reflects opinion of individuals above 36years of age who compose 90% of sample. Respondents were asked that whether they are tourists or local residents of NorthWales. In was found that 75% respondents including 50% males and 25% females weretourists in North Wales. This implies that the recorded analysis on wind power is morelikely to reflect perception of tourists in North Wales regarding wind power generation. Respondents were asked that whether they like wind turbines. In response to thisquestion, 72% respondents agreed that they like wind power while others denied this. Itis important to note that 70% of male respondents suggested that they like to have windturbines that implies that perceptions of males is positive towards wind turbines. Thissuggests that perception of people in North Wales is similar to those of UK becausesurvey in UK also suggested that 70% people supported wind power. As far as opinionof people in US is concerned, online discussion with Alyssa suggested that people inUS support wind power because it is sustainable and clean form of energy in the longrun. Next, respondents were asked whether they would authorize the installation of Windturbines if they have authority to do so. The results of this question were quite surprisingbecause despite of liking wind power, only 22% respondents suggested that they wouldauthorize installation of wind turbines if given right to do so. 72% respondents denied inthis question whereas the rest of respondents were uncertain in their action. Morespecifically, 80% males suggested that they would not authorize installation of windpower despite of the fact that 70% males liked this source of energy. These results arebit contradictory to those of UK because survey in UK suggested that 68.1%respondents agreed to choose installation of wind power if they were given right for this. This implies that people in North Wales are still reluctant to take measures for windpower generation as compared to people in UK. Moreover, 51% respondents of surveyconducted by Sunday Times in UK also suggested that government should invest in
